On February 21st , the Spring term officially reveals its curtain, and we also have our boarders returning to school back from home. This time, we witnessed more independence and autonomy among the students. Our boarders have been able to navigate the entire back-to-school process independently: submit the documents prepared in advance, transport the luggage to the dormitory with the help of houseparents and volunteered students, and quickly unpack and prepare for the upcoming academic studies. Everything is arranged in order.

The first weekend of school day is the Lantern Festival of the Lunar New Year. The Boarding & Pastoral Department organized the Lantern Festival Amusement Party and the Ice-breaking Gala for our boarders to celebrate the last day of the Chinese New Year, together with the twenty -ish new joiners of our Lucton family.

Our boarding students come from all over China. Many students made ‘Tangyuan’ by themselves for the first time, some even tasted the ‘Tangyuan’ with meat paste for the first time. Although they were not be able to celebrate the festival with their families, the festival food and amusement party give them opportunity to experience love and joy of friendship in Luctonian family.

The splendid events are not limited only to the Lantern Festival. The Ice-breaking took over the torch. The Ice-breaking party is a Lucton tradition. The whole Lucton community across year groups and houses make acquaintance with new joiners in this special event. This time, the February birthday party is held in the same time, which promoted the atmosphere of the event to its highest peak. Not only are cakes and snacks a feast for the eyes but also houseparents ordered customized birthday and welcome Coca Cola for new joiners and February borns. Our new joiners, Harry Y, Kevin Q and Johnny C was awarded with the ‘Best Team of Lucton Ice-breaking Gala’ while as Victor L and his buddy were rewarded the ‘Super Buddy’. Victor himself is also a February born. He didn’t have much mood in celebrating his special day due to the pandemic. After coming to Lucton, he had one of his most memorable birthday parties ever. Victor made a wish that he hopes to celebrate his next four birthdays surrounded by his Lucton families.
