Computer Science Field Trip



5月19日上午,协和浦东雪三林校区和雪野校区的计算机科学组开展了户外教学,参观了在上海世博展览馆举办的2023年物联网展览。

In the morning of 19th May, the Computer Science students from both SUIS Sanlin and Xueye campuses had off-campus learning experience at the 2023 IoT (Internet of Things) Exhibition held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention. 

在出行前两天的计算机课上,学生们先在线参加了由行业大咖们组织的关于平台和数据安全的高峰论坛。随后,在周五上午赴展会现场,参观了涵盖传感器与智能设备、通信与精确定位、工业物联网与应用平台、光通信与云计算大数据和RFID自动识别展览,五个领域的展览。

Two days before attending the exhibition, the students first joined the online forum on platform and data security led by industry experts during lesson time. Then on Friday morning, they visited the exhibition covering five areas: Sensors and intelligent devices, Communication and accurate positioning, Industrial Internet of Things and application platform, Optical communication and cloud computing big data and RFID automatic identification exhibition.

What is IoT?

IoT(物联网)是物理对象(嵌入传感器、软件和其他技术的“事物”)的网络,目的是通过互联网与其他设备和系统连接及交换数据。

IoT (Internet of Things) is the network of physical objects - “things” that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet.

展览期间,学生们观看、测试并体验了传感器和智能设备在物联网中的实际应用。他们还听取了参展商关于他们的产品、工作原理和用例的简短讲座。学生们与物联网产品进行互动,并有机会向该领域的行业专家请教。 

During the exhibition, students saw, tested, and questioned the real-world application of sensors and intelligent devices in IoT. They also listened to short lectures by the exhibitors about their products, how they worked and how they are used. Students engaged in interacting with the IoT products and had the opportunity to ask the industry experts in the field. 

学生们非常感兴趣的一个设备是 Alhua 的 Waythscan,这是一种可自动检测体温、手机等的步行式人体扫描仪。学生们随后测试了一个防盗系统,该系统采用压力传感器并连接到其他设备以实现物联网。他们了解了 RFID(射频识别)技术,包括打印机、精密测量机以及用于各种设备的物联网传感器和芯片。

One device ICT student enjoyed studying was Waythscan by Alhua, a walk-through body scanner that automatically detects body temperature, mobile phones etc. Students then tested a burglar system that employed pressure sensors and connected to other devices to make IoT. They got an introduction to RFID (Radio frequency identification) technology with a printer, precision measurement machines, and IoT sensors and chips for various devices.





物联网项目-气象

IoT Project-Weather Station

下午,同学们回到雪野校区,练习搭建自己的第一个物联网项目—气象站,他们学习了袖珍型计算机—树莓派。他们两人一组合作连接和配置了自己的树莓派系统,以在计算机上创建一个完整的工作项目。然后,他们应用传感器技术构建了他们的第一个物联网项目——树莓派气象站。这次实地考察是知识转移和学习经验的绝佳机会,物联网项目让学生能够应用所学知识。

In the afternoon, students returned to the XY campus and practised to build up their very first IoT project – Weather Station. They were introduced to the pocket-sized computers, Raspberry Pi. They worked in pairs to connect and configure the Raspberry Pi to make a fully working project on the computer system. They then applied sensor technology to build their first IoT project - Weather station with Raspberry Pi. This field trip was an excellent opportunity for knowledge transfer and learning experience and the IoT project engaged student in applying what they had learned.

From syllabus to real-world

总的来说,学生们获得了一次很棒的从行业专家那里学习和体验 IGCSE 教学大纲中涵盖的计算机硬件、软件、传感器、自动化和新兴技术在现实世界中的应用的机会。

In general, students had opportunity to learn and experience the application of computer hardware, software, sensors, automated and emerging technology covered in the IGCSE syllabus in the real-world from industry experts.
