小小的瞬间大大的回忆

“Graduation” derives from the Latin word gradus, meaning “to step”. Last week, our kindergarten children marked the step away from preschool and embarked on the next stage of their educational journey.

"毕业 "一词来源于拉丁语的“gradus”，其含义是 "向前迈步"。上周，大班的孩子们从幼儿园迈出了关键性的一步，迈入了他们教育旅程的下一个阶段。

The theme of this year’s graduation was inspired by the following quote by Cesare Pavese “We do not remember days, we remember moments.”

今年毕业典礼的主题灵感来自于切萨雷·帕韦塞的一句话：“我们记住的不是那些日子，而是那些瞬间。”

The graduating children did not don academic regalia, which is important to save for that significant step at the end of their school journey. Instead, the ceremony marked how children without costumes, make-up or fanfare can stand strong, capable and proud. This event was meaningful to the children in creating a lasting moment of their very first graduation.

小毕业生们没有穿着毕业服，因为我们坚信毕业服是要留待他们结束校园生涯最重要的时刻再穿上的。虽然我们的毕业典礼没有特殊的服饰、绚丽的妆容和隆重的开场，但它让孩子们展现出了自己的能力，以及坚强、自豪的精神面貌。这一活动有着非凡的意义，它将作为孩子们人生中的首次毕业典礼而被铭记。

To signify our belief that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers, we invited the families onto the stage to accept the certificate with their child. It was important for us to acknowledge the integral role parents play in their child’s educational journey.

我们邀请了孩子们的家人上台共同见证了授予毕业证书的特殊时刻。我们深深相信，父母是孩子的第一任也是最重要的老师，他们在孩子的教育过程中所扮演的角色是不可或缺且至关重要的。

Parent involvement didn’t stop there. We invited the parents back onto the stage, where they joined hands with teachers and danced, laughed and twirled until the whole theatre was filled with joyous energy.

然而，家人的参与不止于此，我们还把父母们请回舞台，与老师们牵手共舞。大家一起欢笑，一起旋转……整个剧院洋溢着满满的欢乐。

In 1895, the Irish poet and playwright, Oscar Wilde, wrote, "Memory is the diary we all carry about with us."

For our kindergarten children, the first moment they walked into preschool was a noteworthy entry. This point marked the first step into our community. A community bounded by values. A community led by integrity and encased in warmth. A warmth signified by the first "hello" in the morning to the last "goodbye" in the afternoon and all the cuddles and comfort in between.

For some children, their first diary entry might read like this…

"Many new faces, a new language, I miss my mummy." For others, it may read, "A white building, warm faces, butterflies in my tummy."

To our parents, your first entry may read… "A new school, a familiar name, genuine smiles."

Or, "A new school… fingers crossed!"

And what of today? What will be your child's last diary entry? It might read something like this…

And parents, please let us have one final page in your diary. Our last entry to you…

Lastly, to our kindergarten children. Each of you has enriched our diaries, and we look forward to the day when we can reminisce together on the dog-eared page, titled … ‘Huayao Preschool.’

This is not goodbye, just farewell for now. We will miss you all so much.

“好多新面孔，一种新语言, 我想妈妈。”而对于另一些孩子来说，可能这么写：“一座白色的建筑，温暖的面孔，我肚子里扑扑腾腾的蝴蝶。”

对于家长们来说，您的第一篇日记可能会记录下......“一所新的学校、一个熟悉的名字、真诚的微笑。”

或者，“一所新学校......希望好运吧！”

那么今天呢？您孩子的最后一篇日记会是什么样的？它可能会是这样的......
