设计工艺课程的重点是了解材料特性并应用到会被使用的产品中。所以，所有年级小组一直致力于了解许多不同种类的材料的特性（例如：塑料和纺织品），发展自己的能力，以便将所学运用到设计工作中。

在12年级的学生开始进行课程作业时，13年级的学生已经快要完成他们的课程作业了。Andy Z一直在努力对宿舍进行创新性的重新设计，而Tina L则设计了一个精美的书架来放置学习资料。

到目前为止，设计工艺课程度过了非常棒的一年，我们都期待着接下来的几个月会给我们带来什么惊喜。

饰品制作拓展课为学生们提供了使用激光切割机和造型黏土来制作复杂作品的机会。拓展课上的学生们很高兴地制作了圣诞装饰品并将这些饰品展示出来。激光切割机在过去几个月中得到了广泛的使用，并吸引了许多学生观看和体验使用。

许多学生，尤其是Yisa Y和其他12年级的学生，一直在为学校的圣诞制作布景和服装设计，并在表演前花了大量的时间来完善布景，最终使这场表演把观众带回到维多利亚时代的圣诞节。

Studying DT allows students to focus on planning, designing, and creating products and helps gives them the skills they need to enter the world of enterprise.

While the later years have been busying themselves with their coursework, the Year 10 students have been introduced to this process by researching the possible target markets for the mechanical toys that they have been developing. They have learned about different mechanical devices that they can use to create their toys and have been using the machinery in the workshop to do this.

It is essential to understand the needs and desires of the user to be able to fully encapsulate this in a working product and to do this properly, we have also been making sure to consider the specific needs of different types of people, such as older, younger, and disabled people, and how we can incorporate this into the design process.

DT centers around applying an understanding of material properties to the ways in which a product will be used and so all year groups have been focusing on understanding these properties for many different kinds of material, such as plastics and textiles, and have been developing their ability to relate these to their design work.While the Year 12 students have been starting their coursework, the Year 13s have been approaching the completion of theirs. Andy Z has been working hard on an innovative redesign of the dormitories while Tina L has created a beautifully considered bookshelf to house educational resources.

So far it has been a fantastic year in DT and we all look forward to what the next few months will bring us.

Advanced Jewellery Making CCA has given students a chance to use both the laser cutter & modelling clay to create intricate pieces. Students in this class have also enjoyed creating Christmas decorations and displays for their jewellery. The laser cutter has had a lot of use over the past few months and has been fascinating for many students to watch and experience using.Many students, especially Yisa Y and other Year 12 students, have been working on the set & costume design for the school Christmas production and spent the run up to the performance perfecting the scenery - resulting in a show that brought the audience right back to a Victorian Christmas.
