Drama Teacher 戏剧老师

Here at Lucton School Shanghai we are committed to expressive arts and the 2020/21 academic year began with students across each year group taking an introductory course in drama. Students developed their ensemble skills by collaborating with workshop exercises, fun games and challenging activities.

After September, years 10 and 11 embarked on a journey of discovery into mask acting, storytelling and this year they’ve been working on their original poetry.   Embedding literacy into the curriculum is at the heart of drama at Lucton and regardless of ability, each student is provided an opportunity to develop their English language skills in speaking and writing. 

At Christmas our A Level Drama students took a lead role in producing and performing a full scale production of Charles Dickens’, ‘A Christmas Carol’, adapted and directed by Mr Warburton. Students stage managed, designed set, costume, lighting, sound and even wrote and performed an original score to create a first class debut performance, and due to its resounding success it has now set the bar high for further productions. 

The ethos of the Lucton drama programme is too rapidly improve the development of students in a variety of areas, such as speech and articulation, physical fitness, memory, teamwork and to foster an appreciation of classical and contemporary theatre texts and practitioners. For students wanting to study abroad, drama is an excellent course to add to strong facilitating subjects and universities recognise this in their admissions.

Next academic year we aim to offer a wider range of courses in drama and all students in our expressive arts programme will take centre stage.  At the end of this term we will hopefully be in a position to invite you to our Summer Showcase, where students will present a selection of their talents.
