十年级的学生今年开始了他们学习艺术和设计基础的旅程。课堂学习非常强调绘画基础，因为这可以说是在美术领域取得成功的最重要方面。他们已经学会了如何精确测量生活中的物体，并开展教授体积设计绘图、比例、照明以及阴影的基础知识。本学期将对这些知识进行扩展，继续教授绘画入门，学生们将学习水彩、丙烯的基础，最后是油彩绘图。我们的目标是在每个项目开始时都要有很强的绘画能力，并通过对照明和色彩理论的掌握来填补空白，使绘画作品达到国际课程规定的标准。

与此同时已经完成上述基础的十一年级学生一直在全心投入地努力完成他们第一部分的课程作业，以赶上最后的评分阶段。在这个阶段，学生们可以自由地探索他们所选择的课题，并选择如何解释它们并制作一套探索课题的作品，来通过课程中列出的所有评估目标来完成测验。

十二年级的学生一直在进行A Level课程的开始准备作品。在这一点上，学生应该掌握艺术和设计的基础知识以及各种媒介和材料。他们的课程作业将展示他们各自研究和学习的许多艺术家、艺术运动和思想，这将单独影响学生对不同理论、技术和过程的认识，有助于他们对个人作品的更大理解和发展。学生们有广泛的主题，并根据自己的长处和短处来拓展他们的作品。

最后十三年级的学生已接近他们在莱克顿学习的尾声，很快就要毕业。到目前为止，每个学生都已经形成了自己的视觉特性、个人品味和由个人作品集补充的课程作业。许多人已经拿到了国外顶尖艺术大学的录取通知书并且正在稳步地制作每周的内容，并辅以一系列的辅助研究。许多人已经学会了错综复杂的数字绘画工具，这对他们在上海疫情期间继续创作高质量的作品大有帮助，并还有很高期望。

Year 10 students started their journey into learning the foundations of Art and Design this year. Classroom projects have had a strong emphasis on drawing foundations as this arguably the most important aspect to succeed in the greater field of Fine Arts. They’ve learned how to accurately measure objects from life in person and have had numerous projects teaching the basics of volumetric design drawing and the basics of proportion, lighting, and shading. This semester will be an expansion on that knowledge going onto teach Intro to Painting, where students will learn the basics of watercolors, acrylics, and finally oil paints. The goal is to start every project with a strong drawing and to fill in the gaps with a grasp on lighting and color theory to produce paintings that will achieve the standards set out by the international curriculum. 

Meanwhile Year 11 students having already completed this have been dutifully working towards the completion of their Component 1 coursework in time for their final markings. Students at this stage have been given free reign to explore the Titles of their choice and choose how to interpret them and produce a body of work that explores their Titles that checks all of the listed Assessment Objectives outlined in the course.

Year 12 students have been working on the beginnings of their A Level coursework. At this point students are expected to have a grasp of the foundations of art and design in addition to a variety of mediums and materials. Their coursework will see them each researching and doing studies of numerous artists, art movements and ideas that will each individually influence the students knowledge of varying theories, techniques and processes each contributing to their greater understanding and development of personal work. Students have a wide range of subject matter and are encouraged to each develop their work according to their own strengths and weaknesses.

Lastly Year 13 students are nearing the end of their tenure at Lucton and will soon be graduating. Each of the students has by now developed their own visual identity, personal tastes and a body of coursework complemented by their personal portfolio. Many have already had offers from top art universities abroad and are steadily working on producing weekly content supplemented by a body of supporting studies. Many have learned the intricacies of digital painting programs which as greatly helped them continue producing quality work during the Shanghai quarantines and expectations for them are high.
