国王特色 | 如何将"正念冥想"应用在儿童教育中?

教学活动的周二下午,国王幼儿园内会出现一个非常美好的场景:


躁动了一天的孩子们,围着Ms. Danielle安静地坐在地上,闭上眼睛,一起跟随她调整呼吸、放松心灵,为一天的校园生活画上美好的句号。



这正是深圳国王学校独创的正念冥想课程(KSS Mindfulness Course)。今天我们特意邀请国王幼儿园正念冥想老师,同时也是我们的副园长——Ms. Danielle为大家分享如何将"正念冥想"应用在儿童教育中。

Ms. Danielle 加入国王第三年,担任幼儿园副园长一职。有着丰富的执教与领导经验,曾在英国和多所国际学校工作过;是一名拥有国际专业认证的正念冥想导师,她对正念冥想教育充满强无限热情,期待能帮助孩子们提高个人专注力、改善自我认知并调节自身情绪。在日常教学以及课外活动课程中孜孜不倦地向国王学生传递正念冥想理念

如今,在拥有优质资源和美好追求的学校中,正念冥想课程变得越来越重要。它可以帮助孩子们提高专注力,并以健康的方式管理、调节自我情绪。通过学习关注当下,孩子们可以意识到自己的思想和情绪,进而提高选择关注什么和应对挑战的能力。并且通过有规律的练习,孩子们可以学会让心灵平静下来,找到自我空间和宁静,并为他们的日常生活带来快乐


在Ms. Danielle的正念冥想课程中,她以有趣、引人入胜和互动的教学方式帮助学生放松练习,旨在提高学生在日常生活中对自身身体、心理和情绪各方面的掌控力。能够自主探索与管理情绪,对我们学生教育的每一个阶段都非常有益。国王学校的正念冥想课程包括:静坐、平躺和运动的练习,以及富有同理心的心理探究活动。通过这一系列多维度的课程,Ms. Danielle旨在让正念冥想作为学生了解自我感受与调节情绪的日常生活工具。



Ms. Danielle致力于在全校范围内传播正念的理念,以加强正念课程。她的目标是将正念冥想教育理念融入学校的日常生活中,让孩子们能够积极探索正念冥想如何帮助自己在当下变得更快乐,从而提高情绪弹性,变得更善良、更富有同理心。

艺术疗法


儿童天生具有艺术性和创造性,Ms. Danielle利用艺术疗法让孩子们在聆听舒缓音乐的同时,为他们提供了一种更简单的方式来表达自己。在艺术疗法课程中,学生们学习在专注于艺术创作的同时,通过谈论自己的感受来表达自己的情绪和想法。孩子们被鼓励以一种全新的方式去交流和创作他们的艺术。

曼陀罗艺术


曼陀罗是用来代表宇宙的符号。梵文字面意思是"圆"。创作曼陀罗艺术是学生探索艺术构图和心灵的绝佳方式。这些即兴发挥的艺术装置创造了美,并允许学生以一种有趣、具有创造性的方式练习正念冥想。创作曼陀罗艺术可以帮助孩子们提高灵活处理问题的能力、激发内在灵感和创造力。

亲近大自然


在喂鸟活动中,国王学生们可以在得天独厚的青青世界山脚下,享受给鸟类喂食、观看和聆听鸟声的乐趣。这项活动的目的是帮助学生在户外变得更加放松、同时警觉和有意识。Ms. Danielle引导学生们,安静下来打开心扉去聆听到鸟儿的声音、树枝在风中沙沙作响的声音,并全身心去感受周围所发生的一切自然活动。

粘土创作

使用粘土进行创作是一种历史悠久又非常有助于培养正念冥想的方式。粘土制作,是艺术创作的经典活动,任何人都可以练习。制作粘土的过程是通过楔入、挤压和定心的过程;它需要孩子们保持专注,集中注意力感受粘土当下的手感,以及不同粘土之间的不同和联系。

培养注意力的小游戏


课程活动中,Ms. Danielle还提供很多易操作的正念冥想小游戏,例如记忆象棋、积木、陀螺、记忆石、筷子堆叠等。她以一种有趣的方式使用这些具有吸引力的活动来帮助孩子们平静下来,更容易集中注意力并关注当下。所有这些活动都遵循正念冥想的原则,每一个游戏玩具也都可以帮助孩子们提升整体的平静感。

平衡板


平衡板的使用,非常考验专注力和集中力Ms. Danielle通过平衡板来帮助孩子建立信心和鼓励正念冥想。对于大多数孩子来说,仅仅站立在平衡板上并使其摆动就需要他们必须全神贯注。

正念呼吸


在此课程活动中,学生会学习正念的基础知识并学会调整自己的呼吸节奏。通过使用经典的玩具(例如霍伯曼球面),孩子们可以学习如何控制自己的呼吸,保持呼吸与打开和收缩霍伯曼球面的节奏一致,这是正念冥想的关键技术之一。

颂钵冥想


颂体冥想过程,将带领学生感受颂体所创造出的不同频率的声音,帮助他们培养精神专注力。整个过程中,学生会获得舒适感以及深度放松,他们能释放压力并找到内心的宁静。

户外瑜伽


通过户外瑜伽,Ms. Danielle教导学生活在当下专注自己此刻正在做的事情。同时,Ms. Danielle鼓励大家去发现并感受身边美好的事物,例如大自然中的花花草草。在户外瑜伽过程中,Ms. Danielle还会穿插一些有趣的游戏和故事,这些游戏和故事都带有积极的主题,例如同理心和感恩等。

Deputy Head of Pre-prep


Danielle joined the King's School three years ago and  is currently the Deputy Head of the Pre-Prep. Danielle is a qualified and experienced teacher who has worked in the UK and other international schools. She is a certified mindfulness teacher and teaches mindfulness to students both during the normal day and as part of KSS ASP programme. Her passion for mindfulness is directed towards helping children pay attention, developing awareness and improving their emotional development.


Mindfulness


Mindfulness is becoming increasingly important in good schools today. It helps children to improve their focus and manage their emotions in a healthy way. By learning to pay attention to the present moment, they can become aware of their thoughts and emotions and improve their ability to choose what they focus on as well as how they respond to the challenges they face.With regular practice children can learn to quieten the mind, find space and stillness and bring joy to their everyday experiences.


During her mindfulness lessons, Danielle teaches students relaxation exercises in a way that's fun, engaging and interactive, aiming to help students navigate the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of their life. Being able to explore and manage emotions is very beneficial for every part of our student's education. Each lesson includes mindful sitting, lying and movement practices as well as compassionate enquiry. In so doing, Danielle is using mindfulness as a vehicle for students to understand their feelings and emotions.



She has sought to strengthen the mindfulness curriculum by focusing on developing the foundations of mindfulness across the school. Her aim is also to incorporate mindfulness into the daily routine of the school so that children can explore how it can help them be happier through being in the present moment, thereby also helping them to be more resilient, kind and compassionate.

Below are some of the effective ways Danielle uses mindfulness to provide children with a sense of calm, a focused mind, and a happier outlook on life:

Art therapy


Danielle uses Art therapy to provide students with an easier way to express themselves while listening to soothing music; children are naturally artistic and creative. During the art therapy lesson students learn to express their emotions and feelings through talking about how they feel while focusing on the activity. They are encouraged to talk and write about their art in new ways.

Mandala Art


A mandala is a symbol used to represent the universe. The Sanskrit word literally translates to "circle". Crafting mandalas is an excellent way to help students explore artistic composition and mindfulness. These temporary art installations create beauty and allow students to practise mindfulness in a fun, creative way. Working with mandalas helps children to learn valuable coping skills.

Being close to nature


During this activity the students get to enjoy feeding, watching, and listening to birds in nature. The aim of this activity is to help students become more relaxed, alert, and aware outside. Danielle teaches students that becoming silent themselves opens the way to hear the sounds of birds, the rustling of tree branches in the wind, and to accept all the natural activity that is going on around them.

Clay making as a mindfulness activity


The process of working with clay is an ancient practice and very good for developing mindfulness. Clay work as art-making can be a specular activity that can be practised by anyone. The ways in which force is applied to clay is through the process of wedging, pinching, and centering; it requires concentration, focus, a sense of being in the here-and-now with the clay, and a relationship between the potter and clay.

Games that develop concentration


Danielle provides simple mindfulness games such as memory chess, block building, spinning tops, memory stones, chopstick stacking, etc. In a playful way she uses these engaging activities to help teach children to calm themselves, focus more easily, and stay present, all using the principles of mindfulness. Each of these toys can also help promote an overall sense of calm.

Balance boards


Danielle uses balance boards as a way to build confidence and encourage mindfulness; balance boards require focus and concentration. For most children, simply standing on and trying to manoeuvre the balance board will require their full attention.

Mindful breathing


During this activity students learn the basics of mindfulness and discover how to follow their breath; by using a timeless toy such as an expandable ball called a Hoberman sphere, children can learn how to follow their breath as air goes in and out of their lungs, one of the key techniques of mindfulness practice.

Singing bowl meditation


This beautiful mindful listening game encourages students to enjoy the sound of frequency that the singing bowl creates while helping them to cultivate mental focus, practise present moment awareness, release stress and find inner calm.

Outdoor Yoga


Through yoga, Danielle teaches the students to live in the moment and focus on breathing and body posture. When they go outside to practise yoga, Danielle encourages students to see and feel so many wonderful things such as the beautiful parts of nature. In her yoga classes, Danielle also weaves in fun games and stories with positive themes like compassion, gratitude, and strength.
