[V-Shark Saying] Shenzhen Victoria Park Academy is a Year 1 to Year 9 bilingual school. Victoria Education Organization was founded in Hong Kong in 1965, and is well known in Hong Kong for its excellence in academics, character building, and individual nurturing of young learners.

VPA will integrate the Chinese educational tradition of respecting the teachers and valuing rigorous academic disciplines, with the pioneering teaching concept of inquiry-based learning. The Academy continues the 50 years’ tradition of immersive bilingual education – ‘one teacher, one language’.

一、IB为何能风靡全球教育界？

在过去的五十年中，国际文凭课程（International Baccalaureate，简称IB）在全球迅速发展，深受学界和家长的欢迎。IB与全球150多个国家、5，000多所学校合作，为超过195万名3至19岁的学生提供四类教育课程（PYP、MYP、DP、CP）。

IB为何能风靡全球教育界？小鲨认为，IB的广受赞誉与其先进的理念密不可分。国际文凭组织（IBO）以“通过教育去改变世界，让世界变得更加平和美好”为使命，课程体系也在不断的进步和完善。在高水准学术水平的基础要求下，IB鼓励学生熟悉世界的变化，从认知、关爱、责任的角度去采取行动，以开放的态度去拥抱改变。

另一方面，IB的对学校和学生的影响力，已经过大量学者的研究验证：IB在塑造人、成就人方面拥有巨大优势。一项2020年的研究调查了小学项目（PYP）对美国加利福尼亚州公立小学学校风气的影响。研究发现，学校氛围显著改善：对社交情感学习和全体学生的关注度增加，更多地使用跨学科教学和教师合作。此外，定量数据显示，六种学校风气的数据显著改善：

堪培拉大学、香港大学和弗吉尼亚大学的一项联合研究探讨了来自亚太地区的大学预科项目毕业生考入这三所一流大学之后的表现。研究结果显示，IB大学预科项目毕业生在运用各种21世纪技能方面具有更高的能力，在文化感受、国际情怀、批判性思考、领导才能和时间管理等方面对自己的能力都更自信。

In the past five decades, the International Baccalaureate (IB) has developed rapidly around the world and is well-received by the academia and parents. With presence in over 150 countries and over 5,000 IB Schools worldwide, the IB is globally renowned for excellence, offering four educational programmes to more than 1.95 million students aged 3 to 19.

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) was founded with the mission ‘to change the world through education, to make the world a better place’. Since then, the curriculum system is constantly evolving and improving. With the foundational requirement of high academic standards, IB encourages students to become familiar with the changing world, to act from a cognitive, caring, and responsible perspective, and to embrace changes with an open mind.

二、IB理念与孔夫子的不谋而合

也许对于国内的学生、家长来说，IB有些陌生、难懂。实际上，很多学者已经发现IB的理念与我国教育名家孔子的许多观点不谋而合。小鲨将利用《论语》与IB理念的共通之处，帮助大家快速理解IB的核心观点。

IB学习者的培养目标，着重「独立思考」与「国际情怀」，让学生「藉着跨文化的理解与尊重，建立更美好、更和平的世界」。而孔子择善固执，周游列国，冀才为世用，实现其政治理想，这种「知其不可而为之」的精神和「以天下为己任」的观念，与 IB 教学理念正是不谋而合。

In order to understand the globally flourishing IB teaching philosophy conveniently, V-Shark takes the similarities between Chinese traditional educational thoughts represented by Confucius and the IB for example.

The IB Learner Profile shares a lot in common with the philosophy in the Analects of Confucius. IB values ‘independent inquiry’ and ‘international-mindedness’, nurturing students to ‘create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect’; and Confucius chose what is good and held fast to it. 香港沪江维多利亚自2007年成为香港首间一条龙IB世界学校，提供小学项目PYP(Y1-5) 、中学项目MYP(Y6-10) 及预科项目DP(Y11-12)。VSA国际文凭预科项目毕业生成绩斐然， 2021年出了3位IB满分状元。VSA自建校以来共培养出13位IB满分状元，已成为香港顶尖的IB学校之一，是全球IB学校前50强。

四、VPA课程设置：培养好奇的心智

VPA教师鼓励学生表达兴趣和疑惑，在学习内容、方式等各个方面作出选择，并明确建立自己的学习目标，培养学生成为自己学习的主导者和学习过程中的合作者。教师们通过倾听来识别学生的能力，尊重并回应他们的想法。

每个单元的开始，老师们都会通过富有创意的导入活动来激发学生对探究主题的兴趣，提出尽可能多的问题。

例如，在三年级的“共享地球”这个单元，两位班主任老师故意在同学面前假装发生矛盾，引发全班关于冲突产生的原因、缓和及解决个人冲突的策略等方面的热烈讨论。借由同学们的疑问、课堂上观察到的语言和肢体动作，以及自己的亲身经历，“和平与解决冲突“这个与个人和社会都息息相关的探究主题得以开展。

此外，VPA的每个教室中都会设有一面“疑问墙”(wonder wall)，收集并展示同学们在整个单元的学习过程中所提出的问题，并在单元的最后反思自己的疑问是否得到解答，还是需要进一步的个人探究。

课程设计及教学时，老师们也会赋予学生大量的学习选择权。比如数学课上，每项核心技能练习都会设置金、银、铜等三种不同难度的题目。同学们会根据自己对数学概念的掌握程度选择入手的题目，然后向更复杂的题目发起挑战。这样一来，同学们既能挑选合适的题目来巩固所学内容，逐步建立自信心，又能通过题目的划分评估自己的初步学习成效，设立进一步的目标。

在小学的高年级阶段，老师还会邀请同学们一起讨论并共同制定单元的评估标准，赋予学生对自己学习的主导权。同学们在单元的开始，就已经明确了解符合标准的学习成果是什么，并监察自己的学习过程。单元结束时，老师还会收集学生的学习体验及反馈，用来调整和改进课程的设置与教学。

VPA的课程设置将围绕三类课程展开：

· 基础型课程:严格按照国家课程标准和深圳市年度课程计划完成教学内容。

· 探究型课程:以项目学习为主，结合学校及区域特色，利用校内外等多方资源，充分挖掘学生自主能动性，强调以解决现实为题为入口，打破学科之间，校园和社会之间的界限，通过主题式跨学科探究，开展深度学习。

· 拓展型课程:根据实际情况及学生需求，以限定性拓展和非限定性拓展两种形式，分别开设人文科技学术课程，健康生活素养，校园社团活动、体育活动、社区实践和服务课程、中国传统文化、正念教育等多项课程。

孩子从VPA的小学项目中获得的最重要的东西是一种具有探究能力的心智，以及懂得如何自己找到答案，并采取行动以造福当地社区的能力。

VPA Course Structure:

· Foundation Courses: Teaching content follows in strict accordance with the national curriculum standards and the Shenzhen annual curriculum plan.

· Inquiry-Based Courses: The inquiry-based courses are project-based, fully exploiting students' initiatives, emphasizing on solving real-life problems.

· Expanded Courses: Based on the students’ individual needs, we offer a number of courses in humanities, science and technology academic courses, campus club activities, sports activities, community practice and service courses, Chinese traditional culture, wellness program, etc.

Through the programme of inquiry and by reflecting on their learning, VPA students will develop knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and the attributes of the IB Learner profile.

五、创造、行动、与服务（CAS）

CAS: Creativity, Activity, Services

在VPA，学生将基于个人兴趣组织和参与本地及境外活动，扩阔国际视野和增强社会责任意识。

小学项目 : 行动

小学项目的重要组成部分就是学生自行主导的行动。学生需要在反思的基础上，做出明智的选择和采取行动以帮助同侪及造福社区。

中学项目 : 服务即行动

中学项目旨在帮助学生在日新月异和日渐相连的世界建立归属感，及培养正面的学习态度，并以「服务即行动」为课程核心之一。

在VPA，「服务即行动」等同「社区参与」。通过积极并持之以恒及以创新的方式参与社区服务，学生将扩展国际视野及培养知识学习法。

At VPA, students will organise and participate in a wide range of activities, both locally and globally, through which they could develop a greater sense of international mindedness and social responsibility.

Primary Years Programme – Action

An important aspect of the PYP programme is student-initiated action. Students are encouraged to reflect, make informed choices and take action that will help their peers and the wider community.

Middle Years Programme – Service as Action

The Middle Years Programme is designed ‘to help students find a sense of belonging in the ever-changing and increasingly interrelated world around them and to foster a positive attitude to learning’, with ‘service as action’ as one of the main focuses.
