Students are assessed in MYP on four different competencies: two are receptive and two are productive. They will produce written and oral text and they will also read and listen. Then when the four competencies are mastered, students will move on to DP and add one more competency, which is interactive. That is their final oral assessment, which is a conversation of 10-15 minutes with the teacher.
Each year grade 6 to grade 10 students are working actively and explicitly on the same Approaches to learning (ATLs) to deepen their skills. From Grade 6 to 10 for example, we work on communication as the first ATL of the year. After that, every year they get better at it throughout the French program in MYP, students will learn to develop all their ATL skills, which are research skills, thinking skills, self-management skills, communication skills and social skills. Students learn about the French community
which is an international community. They learn to be curious and interested in other cultures. This is such an important part of the IB program at ISNS.
