学院日是VSA维校的传统活动，今年12月8日是VPA首届学院日，各学院进行了各种趣味运动的比拼，包括躲避球、双人合作运球等团队活动。

我们学校分为四个学院：

长江、黄河、珠江和黑龙江

长江的代表色是绿色，核心团队精神是IB十大培养目标中的积极探究。我们希望孩子们像长江一样，“探索”着整片中国土地，再“注入”东海，探索整个世界。

黄河的代表色是黄色，核心团队精神是IB十大培养目标中的胸襟开阔。我们希望孩子们像“母亲河”一样开阔，包容着大地，包容着世界。

珠江的代表色是红色，核心团队精神是IB十大培养目标中的勇于尝试。我们希望孩子们能像珠江沿岸的“探险家们”一样，勇敢面对挑战，积极面对困难。

黑龙江的代表色是紫色，核心团队精神是IB十大培养目标中的善于交流。我们希望孩子们能像黑龙江一样，拥有将中国与世界连接在一起的能力，善于交流、懂得合作。

通过投票，我们还选举出了8位学院长（每个学院2位）。

December 8th was our first House Day. Students had different kinds of activities such as dodgeball, dribbling a ball with a partner, and so on.

There are 4 houses in our school：

Yangtze River, Yellow River, Pearl River, and Heilong River

The color for Yangtze River is green, and it corresponds to Inquirer from the IB learner profile. We hope that students can be like Yangtze River, "inquire" the whole nation of China, and "enter" the East China Sea and explore the whole world.

The color for Yellow River is yellow, and it corresponds to Open-minded from the IB learner profile. We hope that students can be like our "Mother River," be inclusive to the world.

The color for Pearl River is red, and it corresponds to Risk-takers from the IB learner profile. We hope that students can be like the "risk-takers" who live around the Pearl River, and be brave enough to face the challenges.

The color for Heilong River is Purple, and it corresponds to Communicators from the IB learner profile. We hope that students can be like Heilong River, and have the ability to connect China to other countries, be able to communicate and cooperate.

VPA十分重视孩子们的体能发展，除了像学院日这样有趣的活动，以及传统的体育课，每周还设有由外教授课的网球课和足球课，以及放学后的体能社团，让我们的体能教育更加丰富、多元。通过种类丰富的体能课程，我们希望孩子们不光能强身健体，还能从中学习到很多人生哲理和社交技能，并且最终能建立良好的品格和坚毅的心态。

众所周知，适当的体育活动对学生的整体健康是必不可少的，作为全人教育的重要组成部分，体育锻炼能促进孩子们的心理健康和认知发展。学校体育教育的好处是多方面的，它是能够增进学生的自尊和性格发展以及提高学习成绩的“秘密武器”。

定期的体能训练可以提高运动技能，增加肌肉力量和骨密度。研究还表明，不爱运动的学生更有可能出现睡眠障碍。定期锻炼可以减少压力和焦虑，有助于健康的睡眠模式，从而改善心理健康、免疫系统功能和整体健康。

Self-esteem

在有组织的环境中进行团队运动可以加强领导能力和良好的体育精神。在团队中扮演不同的角色可鼓励学生尊重自己和同龄人，还能教会他们理解他人，并在他们的困难中支持彼此。

要让孩子们明白，自尊不应该依赖于赢或输，重要的是参与和从每一个机会中学习。善于接受建设性批评的孩子更善于做出改变来提高自己，无论是在学校、工作还是在运动中。他们知道总会有赢家和输家，但重要的是要接受这一点，重新站起来，鼓励周围的人继续前进。

Better Grades

VPA truly cares about children's physical development, besides the fun activities on the House Day and traditional PE class, we have tennis and soccer class taught by foreign teachers every week, along with the after school sport clubs. Through different kinds of PE classes, we hope children can not only have good physical health, but also learn some philosophies and social skills, and eventually build good characters.

It is no secret that appropriate physical activity is necessary to a student's overall well-being as a part of whole-person education. The benefits of physical education in schools are far-reaching, including both increased student physical health and better academic performance.

PE improves motor skills and increases muscle strength and bone density. Studies also suggest that students who are less active are more likely to experience sleep disorders. Regular exercise reduces stress and anxiety, contributing to healthy sleep patterns.

Physical education demonstrates the value of cooperation, while being part of a team gives them a sense of identity. Children can learn the essential communication skills and social skills through PE lessons.

自尊和性格发展

Playing team sports in a structured setting reinforces leadership and good sportsmanship. Playing various roles on a team and gaining new skills encourage students to respect themselves and their peers.

It is important for children to understand that self-esteem should not rely on winning or losing, but in the taking part and learning from every opportunity. Children who receive constructive criticism well are shown to be better at making changes to improve themselves, whether it be at school, in work or in sport. They learn that there will always be winners and losers but it is important to accept this and to get back up, or to encourage those around us to carry on.
