Bromsgrove School UK's Summer School has been running for over ten years. In that time, they are proud to have built an experience for their summer visitors which is both fulfilling and rewarding.
Bromsgrove is one of the top ten day and boarding schools in the UK, but they also excel at sports - they have featured as a top-six school for sports across 26 different sports for many years. Sports facilities are extensive and, like their 100 acres of grounds, are well maintained.
This year they are offering their popular Summer Vacation Programme once again, which includes trips and time with the local day children who attend day camps whilst still allowing time in a classroom setting to improve and extend our students' English language skills.
The summer school aims to give children the opportunity to improve their English language skills whilst having fun. Summer schools are the ideal opportunity to sample life in a traditional British Boarding School. Bromsgrove celebrates its 500-year-old history but is also a thriving hub of modern living - the accommodation is modern and comfortable, the teaching is rigorous and thorough, and pupils are at the heart of everything they do.
All summer school pupils have lessons for half the day and participate in activities for the other half. Students are split into different categories; Preschool (K1-K3) Juniors aged 8-11 (Prep 2 –Senior 7) and Teens aged 12-14. There are fifteen hours of formal English tuition each week, taught by native English speakers who are specialists in the needs of those learning English as a second language. They offer optimal learning opportunities, and pupils sit tests on arrival, enabling them to join a class that suits their ability.
The activity sessions are also attended by local day pupils so that international pupils have the chance to practise their English naturally. Activities on offer include a massive selection – sports, creative arts and technology, dance, fitness, cookery, team games and just about anything else they can think of!
Full day excursions are included to destinations such as Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, Shakespeare's Stratford, Oxford and London. So, if your child joins the summer school, they will make friends for life from the local area as well as the rest of the world.

As you will be aware, Bromsgrove School has a reputation that goes back over 500 years. As one of the UK's top boarding schools, they welcome pupils from over 50 different nationalities and have extensive experience in the needs of young people living away from home. As a result, the Bromsgrove UK summer visitors experience an authentic taste of what a traditional boarding school has to offer, as well as let them take advantage of their fantastic location to enjoy the very best of what England offers – from scenic walks on the Malvern Hills to thrilling rides at the many adventure parks within easy reach of us. The summer school also provides children with a taster of what life will be like if they move to Bromsgrove School UK through our 'Priority Placement' programme.
The summer school is wholly owned and operated by Bromsgrove School. They have a safe and welcoming environment at Bromsgrove – all staff are Bromsgrove staff who work at Bromsgrove during term time and who know the School really well; they all understand the importance of looking after youngsters in a pastoral setting whilst giving them opportunities to grow and challenge themselves in a safe and secure environment. They aim to provide pupils with a rich educational experience, encouraging them to flourish and develop existing talents, discover new passions, and make lifelong friends.
They offer challenging and exciting new academic programmes for this year. Qualified teaching staff are all experienced teachers dedicated to providing pupils with engaging, fun and exciting lessons. They have a staff-to-pupil ratio of 1:12.
Summer School pupils have optimal learning opportunities - they sit tests on arrival, enabling them to join a class that suits their ability. Teachers continually monitor pupils' progress, giving feedback and support and at the end of the course, each pupil receives a certificate to show their attainment. The challenging academic programme is balanced by an exciting programme of day trips and excursions; trips will be with the local children attending the day camps.
The aim is for all the young people who go to spend some of their summer with Bromsgrove feel safe and comfortable. All the staff at summer school work at Bromsgrove all year round. They understand the needs of youngsters away from home and are always on hand to smooth out any difficulties. Bromsgrove pride themselves on offering exceptional pastoral care in a safe environment. We want children to go home after their time with them feeling that they have made friends for life and have learnt a lot about themselves while they were there.
