8月21日，威睿达思国际学校（VCA）深圳龙华校区正式开学，经过了一个暑假，每位同学都以最饱满的精神状态迎接新学期的到来。2023-2024学年VCA迎来了一批新的成员，早上的第一节课，德育主任Alice与行政副校长黄校为孩子们上了开学的第一节班会课。

On August 21st, Veritas Collegiate Academy (VCA) Shenzhen Longhua Campus officially welcome the new school year. After a summer vacation, every student was in the fullest state of mind to welcome their new semester. 2023-2024 school year VCA ushered in a new batch of members, and in the morning's first class, Alice, the Director of Moral Education and Huang, the Vice-Principal of Administration, gave the children the first lesson of the beginning of the school year.

威睿达思（Veritas）的本意是“真理”，哈佛、耶鲁、加州理工、约翰霍普金斯等美国顶级名校的校训中都出现了这个词。这也是VCA一直以来的“信条”，我们希望在VCA就读的学生能够勇于追求真理，不畏途中艰险。

Veritas means "truth", a word that appears in the mottos of top American schools such as Harvard, Yale, Caltech, and Johns Hopkins. This has always been the "credo" of VCA, and it is our hope that VCA students will be able to pursue the truth without fear of danger on their way.

黄校提出了两个对孩子们的美好期望，第一点是修身美德：VCA的孩子们在学习的过程中也不能松懈对自己品德的修炼，所有的老师都会注重孩子们的素质教育。第二点是培养特长：作为一所国际学校，作为未来的升学目标是前往美国大学的孩子们，特长的培养尤为重要，VCA将会重视每一位孩子的爱好和其发展成特长的可能性，尽可能地为所有学生提供他们需要的资源。

Mr. Huang put forward two expectations for the children. The first one is to cultivate virtue: VCA children can't slacken on the cultivation of their own character in the process of learning, and all teachers will pay attention to the children's character building. The second is the development of specialties: as an international school, the development of specialties is especially important for children whose future goal is to enter an American university. VCA will emphasize each child's hobbies and the possibility of developing them into specialties, and will provide all students with as many resources as possible to meet their needs.

VCA的教育目标是培养具有全球眼光、全面发展、个性鲜明的未来领导者、探索者、思想家和艺术家。

The educational goal of Veritas is to develop future leaders, explorers, thinkers and artists who are globally minded, well-rounded and distinctive.

黄校作为校长发言之后，德育主任Alice组织每位任课老师与同学做了自我介绍，并在接下来的时间里为同学们详细讲解了学生手册与新学期第一周的课表。孩子们将会主要通过学习AP体系的课程完成在VCA的学业，老师们会根据孩子们的年级与水平为孩子们分班，采取小班制教学。

After Mr. Huang's speech as the principal, Alice, the moral education director, organized each teacher and student to introduce themselves, and in the following time explained the student handbook and the schedule for the first week of the new semester to the students. The children will complete their studies at VCA mainly through the AP system, and the teachers will divide the children into classes according to their grades and levels to teach them in small classes.
