Abbi was born in Shropshire, England and attended an international school herself during her high school years. She knows firsthand the magical environment of international schools like ISNS.

Abbi graduated from Durham University with a BA in English Literature. After graduating, Abbi obtained a distinction in her postgraduate degree in Education from Warwick University, where she specialized in secondary school education. Abbi is TEFL trained and a licensed instructor for the Teaching English in Multilingual Classrooms course. 

Abbi has just moved from Beijing to Shenzhen and has been living in China for the past five years. Previously, Abbi has lived in Sichuan and Shanghai.

Having held various pastoral leadership roles, Abbi is a keen believer in holistic education. She believes that happy students learn best and strives to create a supportive, engaging classroom environment. 

In her free time, Abbi enjoys reading, travelling and learning Mandarin. She is thrilled to be living in Shenzhen and working at ISNS.

Greg is from Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada. He has over 15 years of experience in education, including teaching roles in China, New Zealand, and Spain, as well as private school senior leadership roles in China.

Greg completed his Bachelor of Arts at Acadia University, then went on to study the Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary) at the University of Auckland. While teaching in China, he completed the TEFL certificate program from the University of Toronto and received his Master of Professional Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Western Ontario.

Greg encourages students to develop hard and soft skills both inside and outside the classroom setting in order to gain their spark for lifelong learning. He is excited to be part of the ISNS community as a Middle Years Individuals and Societies teacher.

Calling Shenzhen home since 2011, Greg enjoys exploring the numerous parks around the city with his family. As avid hikers, they appreciate the many exciting hiking challenges that the mountains of Guangdong Province provide.

Mary Ann grew up in Prince Edward Island, Canada, where she cultivated her passion for knowledge. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a multidisciplinary focus encompassing Psychology, Biology, and Chemistry. Additionally, she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree specializing in International Education. Currently, Mary Ann is in the final stages of completing her Masters in Counseling Psychology at Yorkville University.

Mary Ann's professional journey brought her to ISNS, where she is embarking on her first year as a team member. Her responsibilities include teaching Environmental Systems and Societies while also fulfilling the role of a counselor for students in grades 9 and 10.

With ten years of experience teaching various science courses in China of the Canadian curriculum, Mary Ann is thrilled to embrace the International Baccalaureate Programme and wholeheartedly aligns with ISNS's mission statement.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Mary Ann leads an active lifestyle infused with her love for sports and exercise. She particularly enjoys engaging in basketball, hiking, and cycling activities, which contribute to her overall well-being and zest for life.

Dylan Compton is an MYP art teacher at ISNS and is also involved in the athletics program as an assistant basketball coach. Mr. Compton is certified to teach in multiple academic subjects and has taught in the United States as well as China. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with a minor in Chinese language from Colorado College; he studied abroad at both Fudan University in Shanghai as well as Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany.

Dylan enjoys photography, travel, museum visits, and time spent in nature. He studies Chinese and Spanish in his free time and believes that modeling excitement for lifelong learning is one of a teacher’s most important jobs. He is looking forward to help students grow in their creative thinking and communication skills this year at ISNS.

Thinus is a MYP Math teacher at ISNS. Prior to his relocation in March 2020 to Shenzhen, Thinus taught Math in South Africa, Thailand and United Arab Emirates. He started his teaching overseas journey in 2013 after teaching for 3 years in South Africa. He completed his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of South Africa.

He is proud to be part of ISNS and be part of the mission in developing young people to reach their full potential and do their best.

Thinus is a global citizen and have been to 34 countries. He likes golfing and online chess.

Mark is the newest Physical Education teacher at ISNS, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge from his semi-professional basketball and Australian football background. Mark began his journey in education in 2017, with a memorable year spent coaching basketball in China. This was followed by roles in Australia, where he specialized in both Physical Education and Learning Support.

Having originally hailed from Adelaide, South Australia, Mark returned to China and is excited to be a part of the team at the International School of Nanshan Shenzhen. He completed his Master's in Teaching at Curtin University and has always been passionate about mentoring students to achieve their sporting aspirations.

Mark believes in the power of sports to shape young minds and is committed to helping students reach their full potential, both in athletics and in life.

Outside the classroom, Mark is a tech enthusiast and enjoys cycling. He appreciates the outdoors, often finding time to play basketball or simply enjoy the environment around him.

Angelina Liu became an esteemed member of the ISNS community in 2023, taking on the role of an MYP Mandarin teacher. Her journey towards this role began with a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language from Central South University, followed by her pursuit of a Master's degree in Education at King's College London. During her studies in Chinese language and education, her passion for teaching Mandarin deepened, and she found herself drawn to the art of education from multiple perspectives.

What truly fuels Angelina's enthusiasm is her genuine connection with her students and a strong alignment with ISNS's mission. She firmly believes in the school's mission to nurture students into responsible, creative, empathetic and well-rounded globally citizens and life-long learners. This dedication to education is evident in her wealth of professional knowledge and her unwavering commitment to her students' growth.

Angelina is vivacious and optimistic, she enjoys everything in life: traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. As she embarks on this adventure, Angelina eagerly anticipates the growth and shared learning experiences that await her and her students.

Ryan is a Guyanese American who brings a wealth of experience to ISNS, having lived and worked in the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia. His wife and their eighth-grade child will be joining him at ISNS.  

Ryan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management from the Southern Columbia University, a Master's in Education in Advanced Teaching from the University of the People in partnership with the IB, and a TEFL certificate. In his previous school, Ryan served as a Learning Support Coordinator and Crisis Management Team Coordinator for school safety and child protection.  

Ryan's philosophy on teaching and learning is based on the idea that every child is unique and has the potential to succeed. His mission revolves around creating an inclusive learning environment that focuses on the individual requirements of every learner. He recognizes that learning is a multifaceted process, encompassing everything from the learning environment to relationships and instructional techniques.
