What inspired you to join our school as the Lower PYP Coordinator?

I believe it's important for this community to understand that I actively participate in the broader IB curriculum network. I am an IB educator who conducts workshops and contributes to curriculum development for the wider IB organization. When I contemplated my career path, ISNS became the ideal destination for me. Personally, I chose ISNS because, within the broader landscape of international schools, the Pang family stands out. International schools vary significantly, and this institution has earned a stellar reputation for prioritizing the well-being of students. I was eager to work at a school that shared these values. 

How do you plan to enhance and develop the curriculum for our lower primary students?

I am delighted to have the opportunity to contemplate our strategic plan and how we will navigate this journey, especially when considering the direction, we intend to take. Our focus lies in nurturing leaders of learning. The future is inherently uncertain, evolving from what it has been traditionally. Consequently, we must equip our students with the skills to creatively solve problems and adeptly navigate the ever-changing technological landscape. 

As I reflect on what our school can accomplish, it is evident that the possibilities are boundless. One aspect of our approach involves understanding our students deeply, aligning with our holistic education philosophy, a principle shared across all IB schools. Here at ISNS, we place particular emphasis on fostering global citizenship. Our students, as they grow, will undoubtedly play pivotal roles in shaping the future of our world, which is a truly exhilarating prospect. 

Our journey involves a comprehensive analysis of data and assessments to understand our students not just as learners, but as individuals with unique potential. We are dedicated to cultivating their ability to make positive contributions both locally and on a global scale. Therefore, our curriculum is mission-driven, and any future changes will be made in harmony with our strategic plan. That, you can be assured of. 

Can you discuss your approach to working with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance the lower primary experience?

Originally, my background was in science, and education became my second career. When it comes to collaborating with teachers, my goal is to help them grasp the latest findings in brain research and the science underlying the learning process. We aim to explore how we can enhance our strategies and methods to make them more efficient and effective. My approach is firmly rooted in evidence-based best practices for our learners. 

I'm genuinely enthusiastic about working alongside our teachers, and it's heartening to see their eagerness. They are open-minded and highly motivated to adopt cutting-edge approaches that facilitate our students in becoming adept and proficient in various domains, whether it's reading, writing, mathematics, the arts, or any other subject matter. Their dedication to this cause is admirable and will be a key focus of our curriculum. 

How can parents and the broader community actively participate in the success of the lower primary curriculum?

I'd like to emphasize that parents are our valued partners, a belief that holds significant importance for me, especially as a parent myself. As a parent, you play the pivotal role of being your child's first and last teacher. Your active involvement in your child's education is immensely beneficial. 

How can parents provide the best support? Firstly, being role models of learning is essential. Share your own areas of interest and what you are currently exploring. Additionally, consider engaging with various aspects of the school. You can contribute by sharing your expertise, perhaps as a guest speaker, or by joining us on field trips. There are numerous opportunities for you to actively participate in your child's educational journey.

我想强调的是，父母是我们重要的合作伙伴，这一信念对我来说非常重要，尤其是我作为一名家长。作为父母，您扮演着关键角色，是孩子的第一位也是最后一位老师。您积极参与孩子的教育是非常有益的。
