At SIS, we believe that small actions can create a big impact. With this belief, from September 15-24, SIS secondary school students came together to participate in the Global Goals Week and International Day of Peace. Global Goals Week is a shared commitment to accelerate action on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).  

Throughout the week, our students demonstrated their unwavering commitment to creating a better, more sustainable world. Let's take a closer look at the activities they conducted and the knowledge and spirit they gained during this inspiring spirit week.

On Sports Day, our students kicked off the week with enthusiasm and energy. They donned their active wear or outfits representing their favourite sports and teams. Beyond the fun of dressing up, they took a moment to focus on their physical and mental well-being by practising Yoga. This day highlighted the importance of SDG 3: Good health and well-being, emphasising the need to prioritise health as individuals and communities.

Tuesday brought Beach Day, where students embraced school-appropriate summer casual wear. The day was about much more than just fashion. Our students dove into discussions about the impact of plastic waste on marine life and human health. They explored the crucial role of conserving water in supporting life below water, gaining a deeper understanding of SDG 14.

Wednesday was all about advocating for social justice and reducing inequality. On Twin Day, students dressed in the same outfits as their peers, sending a powerful message about inclusivity and unity. Our students stood together to support social justice organisations, amplifying their commitment to SDG 10: Reduced inequality.

Peace Day on Thursday saw our students dressed in soothing blue attire. They didn't stop at wearing blue; each student crafted a peace pledge dove to symbolise their dedication to peace, justice, and strong institutions. These doves became part of a beautiful World Peace Day banner, showcasing our students' commitment to SDG 16.

As the week came to a close, our students celebrated Vintage Day by wearing clothing that was three years or older. They delved into thought-provoking discussions about the impact of clothing production on the environment and local communities. Through these conversations, they understood the role of fast fashion in waste and disposal issues and explored ways to make more sustainable choices. This day reinforced their commitment to SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production.

Global Goals Week and International Day of Peace at SIS were about fostering a deep understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspiring meaningful action. We are proud of our students embraced the spirit of the week with open hearts and open minds, showcasing their commitment to creating a more sustainable, inclusive, and peaceful world.

星期二，我们迎来了“沙滩日”，学生们穿着学校允许的夏季休闲装。这一天的意义不仅仅是局限于时尚，我们的学生深入探讨了塑料垃圾对海洋生物和人类健康的不良影响。他们详细研究了保护水资源对维持和支持水下生命的关键作用，进一步加深了对可持续发展目标14（SDG14）的理解 - 即水下生物目标。

星期三，我们将焦点聚集在倡导社会公正和减少不平等。在“双胞胎日”，学生们身体力行，纷纷穿上了与同伴相同的服装，这不仅仅是一次时尚的亮相，更是积极传递出关于包容和团结的强烈信息。我们的学生在这一天齐心协力，向社会正义组织贡献力量，他们的行动进一步放大了对实现可持续发展目标10（SDG10）的承诺 - 即减少不平等。

在星期四的“和平日”中，我们的学生穿上了象征和平的蓝色服装。然而，他们表达对和平、正义和强大制度的坚定承诺，并没有局限于简单地身着蓝色服装，学生们更是纷纷亲手制作了和平鸽，并且写上了为维护世界和平的宣言以及行动计划。那一只只代表SIS学生坚定意愿的和平鸽，汇聚成了一幅美丽的世界和平日横幅，悬挂在了中学教学楼的一楼大堂，成为了令人振奋的景观。这个横幅强烈地展示了我们的学生对可持续发展目标16（SDG16）的承诺，即追求和平、正义和强大机构的目标。

随着这周系列活动的谢幕，我们的学生们穿着三年或更久历史的服装来庆祝“复古日”。与此同时，他们进行了深刻的探讨，关注服装生产对环境和本地社区的影响。通过这些引人深思的对话，他们更加深刻地理解了快时尚对废弃物和处理问题的负面影响，并积极探讨了如何做出更为可持续的选择。这一天加强了他们对可持续发展目标12（SDG12）的承诺 - 即负责任的消费和生产。

SIS学校开展的全球目标周和国际和平日的目标在于深化学生对可持续发展目标（SDG）的理解，同时鼓励和启发学生们采取有意义的行动。我们为学生们感到自豪，见证了他们以敞开的心态和开放的思维，积极拥抱了全球共存的精神。学生们的参与不仅是对创造一个更可持续、更包容、更和平的世界的有力呼吁，也是这一承诺的生动体现。
