Head of Science

On Monday this week, students from MIS set out on their first Science-related field trip of the year. After many of them completed wonderful projects for Science Week, it was time they caught a glimpse of how research is conducted in professional laboratories. 

Incidentally,  staff from Shenzhen Bay Laboratories helped to judge last year's Science Fair and provided science internships for many of our students over the summer, so there was no one better to host us! The students began by taking a tour through the lives of the scientists and the training they had to undergo to get to the positions they are in today. 

They then received a lecture on neuroscience, specifically how neuroscientists study the brain. Finally, they witnessed the animal lab, which is where most of the neuroscience experiments take place. Shenzhen Bay Laboratories is part of Shenzhen government's Science Park project in Guangming, and the site did not disappoint, housing the most up-to-date and advanced scientific equipment and resources. 

We thank the wonderful scientists and staff at SZBL for hosting us, and we are excited for our next offsite adventure!

本周一，曼校的学生开始了他们今年的第一次与科学相关的实地考察。在许多学生为科学周完成了精彩的项目之后，是时候让他们一睹专业实验室中研究是如何进行的了。

顺便说一下，深圳湾实验室的工作人员曾帮助评审去年的科学展览，并为我们的许多学生提供了暑期科学实习机会，因此没有比他们更适合招待我们的了！学生们首先参观了科学家们的生活以及他们为今天的职位所接受的培训。

然后，他们接受了有关神经科学的讲座，具体涉及神经科学家如何研究大脑。最后，他们参观了动物实验室，这是大多数神经科学实验进行的地方。深圳湾实验室是深圳政府光明科学园项目的一部分，该地点没有让人失望，拥有最先进的科学设备和资源。
