HOME-SCHOOL COLLABORATION,
EDUCATIONAL FEAST
THE EIGHTH CAMPUS
TEACHING OPEN DAY AND
CLASSROOM CULTURAL EXHIBITION
On the morning of November 22, 2023, from 8:00 to 12:00, Huamei Foreign Language School held three activities:
The Huamei Foreign Language School Teaching Open Day.
The Huamei Foreign Language School Classroom Cultural Exhibition.
The Jin'an Group's Special Research and Teaching Activities for the Comprehensive Review of the Third Year of Junior High School.
Today, we comprehensively showcased the cultural atmosphere of Huamei classrooms to parents. Each class from grades one to nine had four lessons, including three school-level showcase lessons. These were given by Teacher Luo Honglian for history, Teacher Wang Yinsi for English paper review, and Teacher Wang Bei for an English showcase lesson."
Group Teaching and Research Activities: Vice-principal Hu Shaoming delivered an expert report titled "Huamei Reflections on Quality Enhancement,"which was very down-to-earth, highly practical, and successfully implemented President Deng Dengjiang's educational philosophy.
After the mid-term exams, teachers carefully analyzed the test papers and summarized the first half of the semester's teaching. After nearly two weeks of preparation, they reported to parents through this activity.
Most parents arrived at the school early, attending almost all four lessons. In each classroom, students sat neatly in front, while parents sat behind them in an orderly manner.
Some parents interacted with students, participating in the teaching process. For example, in the visualized mathematics class of Class 401, Mom Jiaosige went to the podium and explored with the children. Other parents also thought together with their children, and the classroom was filled with laughter and joy.
Teachers presented exciting lessons, children actively participated, and parents were focused. One child had the opportunity to showcase three times. When he wasn't selected the fourth time, he felt sad and shed tears. It wasn't that the child was greedy, but he wanted so much to make his parents proud.
During each break, parents and teachers warmly exchanged ideas, delving into common and individual aspects of education and teaching. Only when parents personally experience and feel can there be shared information with teachers and students, emotional integration, and shared values."
Teacher Wang Bei first reviewed several color aspects related to the Earth with the students. Then, she introduced the scenario of recruiting environmental guardians and advanced the teaching content in a challenging way, triggering the children's curiosity and competitiveness.
Task 1: Watch for the main idea. Listen to the recording, understand the general idea of the article, and grasp the overall perception of the text.
Task 2: Read for structure. Skim through the entire text and guide students to divide the article into three parts based on the three keywords: beautiful, sick, clean. Help students independently paragraph and assist them in clarifying the structure of the article.
Task 3: Read for details. Read paragraph by paragraph. Assign cooperative exploratory learning tasks to small groups, with a preset 5-minute exploration time.
"The next group presentation and reporting session is the highlight of this lesson. Using a projector, the group's collaborative worksheet is showcased to the class, presenting their research findings. This is followed by a gamified exercise of keyword substitution, clearing reading obstacles, enhancing the fun of learning, and boosting learning enthusiasm.
Finally, based on the keywords on the whiteboard, guide the students to summarize, and provide a preview of the next div of the learning content."
Quality is the foundation of survival. Moral education and nurturing talent are essential, with the main battlefield being the classroom, and teaching being the school's core business. What belongs to the nation is part of the world; the more rooted in one's nationality, the more global influence it has. Regardless of the educational philosophy, it is essential to follow the laws of education and teaching. Explicit academic achievements are the "surface," while implicit learning qualities are the "substance." Only when the surface and substance align can harmonious development be achieved. President Deng Dengjiang proposed a comprehensive quality perspective based on this understanding.
President Deng introduced "One Standard":
In this semester's series of classroom cultural exhibition activities, the emphasis is not on flashy forms but on researching everyday challenges and issues. The goal is to make students enjoy classes, and teachers genuinely benefit. For example, bringing paper review lessons to the stage, incorporating new technologies into the classroom (Geogebra), and opening up classrooms to parents. President Deng attends and evaluates each school-level showcase lesson, providing guidance on writing reviews and urging the use of simple language to extract new insights, ensuring that teachers gain practical benefits. President Deng instructed the organic integration of showcase lessons with various school activities. For instance, conducting three activities simultaneously today significantly increases work efficiency and multiplies the effects.
President Deng put forward "Two Awarenesses":
During each evaluation, President Deng first praises the students' bright spots and meticulously analyzes the children's psychology. In President Deng's view, every child is "teachable" and "lovable." President Deng always emphasizes that when problems arise, teachers should reflect more on themselves rather than shifting blame. Zhongkao awareness significantly impacts a child's lifelong development, reflecting a school's comprehensive and concentrated educational level. Emphasizing Zhongkao awareness means tightening the quality string at every grade level, cooperating synergistically to exert the combined strength of education. This is the greatest responsibility to students, parents, and society. Therefore, we must energetically and uprightly focus on quality.
Out of the ten subject groups, eight have already showcased nine school-level open lessons (including 2 from the Arts and Sciences group). These group-level open lessons are carried out simultaneously, providing parents with a comprehensive display of the school's classroom teaching. This open scrutiny allows mutual progress and growth with parents.
