"NATIONAL ESSENCE THEATER GARDEN" VISITS HUAMEI FOREIGN LANGUAGE SCHOOL
Theater is a precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, possessing values in various aspects such as national art, moral concepts, traditional customs, literary knowledge, and historical understanding. In order to promote traditional culture, disseminate and popularize it on campus, and enhance students' cultural cultivation and artistic sentiments, an event named "National Essence Theater Garden" was held at Huamei Foreign Language School on November 30th, featuring renowned performing artists.
Through a combination of lectures, teaching, questioning, learning, performance, and interactive experiences, the event presented a cultural feast for the students. Prior to the commencement of the performance, Assistant Principal Wei Xutao delivered a welcoming speech. Subsequently, Ms. Zhao Min, Vice Dean of the Guangdong Provincial Institute for the Popularization and Education of National Essence Theater, conducted a lecture on traditional Chinese theater, delving into aspects such as its historical heritage, artistic features, and cultural significance. This aimed to guide students in understanding and appreciating traditional theater, promoting the inheritance and development of outstanding Chinese traditional culture. An on-site interactive Q&A session with prizes was conducted, with students actively participating and creating a vibrant atmosphere.
As the music played, the artists, with full enthusiasm, performed famous excerpts from plays such as "Selling Water," "Puppetry," and "Sichuan Opera Face Changing." The artists' expressive gestures, magnificent costumes, melodious and powerful singing voices deeply captivated the students. The children were emotionally engaged, enthusiastically enjoying the performance, and the campus echoed with applause and cheers. After the program, the artists warmly invited the students to participate in interactive activities, where they applied facial makeup and wore theatrical costumes, learning the skills and movements of actors. The participating students gained a profound appreciation for the challenges faced by theatrical performers – truly exemplifying the saying, "a minute on the stage, ten years offstage."
This "Theater into the Campus" event allowed students to closely understand traditional Chinese opera, opening a window for them to experience the charm of theatrical art up close. They felt the essence and allure of theatrical culture, appreciating the profoundness of traditional Chinese culture, simultaneously enhancing the recognition of traditional culture among teachers and students, elevating artistic cultivation, and boosting cultural confidence.
