Dear SIS Families,

On behalf of the primary team, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support and attendance in our parent-teacher and parent-teacher-student conferences. Your presence and engagement have been invaluable. The conferences provide a vital opportunity for open communication. Your insights into your child's needs have enriched our understanding, allowing us to tailor our teaching methods to better meet their requirements. We hope that you continue your reflections with your child at home and planned ways to ensure they achieve their new goals for the second semester.

If you have yet to meet your child's teachers, please reach out and schedule one. We are happy to meet with you and discuss your child's progress thus far.

Last Monday 11th December, the French International Programme hosted their first concert “Les Restos de SIS”. French language and culture are also an integral part of the SIS way of life, and this annual celebration will remind us how open-minded and caring our community is! 

What an incredible show it was! FIP Students from PreK1 to G5, FAL students, teachers and volunteering parents put their effort together and produced an exciting and entertaining concert fully in French, going through classic French songs, a poem recital and exhilarating dancing! 

We were glad to welcome Blandine Cressard, the Advisor for the French expatriates in South China from the French consulate. She was thrilled and moved by the students’ performances.

Thank you to our FIP team and students for their dedication and hard work. This concert, inspired by “Les Restos du Coeur”, is a way for us to raise funds for the French charity association to help those people in need. As of this time, we have raised over 6000 RMB. If you would like to donate, please scan the QR code below and write “FRENCH” in the note. This will be open until 18th December.

12 月 11 日上周一，法语部FIP举办了他们的第一场音乐会“Les Restos de SIS”。法语和法国文化也是 SIS 生活方式的重要组成部分，这一年度庆祝活动将提醒我们我们的社区是多么开放和充满关爱！

这是一场多么令人难以置信的演出啊！来自PreK1到G5的FIP学生、FAL学生、老师和家长志愿者们齐心协力，制作了一场完全用法语进行的激动人心且娱乐性十足的音乐会，包括经典法语歌曲、诗歌朗诵和令人陶醉的舞蹈！

我们很高兴地迎来了法国领事馆在华南地区的法国侨民顾问 Blandine Cressard 。学生们的表演让她感到兴奋和感动。

As part of our How We Express Ourselves unit in visual arts, the PreK2 Artists recently collaborated on a project to make a sign for our community wellness space. This serene green area is dedicated to activities such as reading, planting, and mindfulness.

To bring their artistic vision to life, the young artists drew inspiration from the Zen patterns and soothing sounds created by renowned artist Yukikawae. They used their senses and various artistic tools to paint and create lines on their boards. The Prek2 artists observed the change in patterns, lines, and shades as they experimented with different paint techniques.

Working collectively, they shared the workspace, communicated with each another, and responsibly cleaned at the end of each session. Together they created a beautiful sign that will contribute to the overall wellness of our Jingshan community.

作为“我们如何表达自己”的视觉艺术单元的一部分，PreK2 艺术家最近合作开展了一个项目，为我们的社区健康空间设计标志。这片宁静的绿地专门用于阅读、种植和正念等活动。

为了将他们的艺术愿景变为现实，年轻艺术家们从著名艺术家Yukikawae创作的禅宗图案和舒缓的声音中汲取灵感。他们利用自己的感官和各种艺术工具在板上绘画和创作线条。Prek2 艺术家在尝试不同的绘画技术时观察了图案、线条和色调的变化。

他们集体工作，共享工作空间，相互沟通，并在每次活动结束时负责任地进行清洁。他们共同创造了一个美丽的标志，将为我们鲸山社区的整体福祉做出贡献。

In the bustling hallways of our beloved SIS The Bay, something extraordinary is happening – students are discovering the magic of public speaking and sharing what is important to them! It's not just about standing in front of a crowd; it's about finding our voices, building confidence, and unleashing the power of expression through the Voice of a Gecko during our weekly Friday assemblies.

Public speaking helps young learners to boost their confidence, find more ways to communicate effectively, and demonstrate leadership skills as we celebrate our commonalities and diverse perspectives.

The Grade 1 Artists have been exploring how humans use patterns to make connections in their Where We Are in Place and Time unit.  Through this exploration,  they created weavings, patterned paper using printmaking techniques, braids and rainbow watercolour paper. In collaboration with the library, the artists created patterned fish using recycled paper, unique patterned paper and expired masks. Each fish is unique and celebrates the diversity of our SIS community.   The artists also created woven artwork and bags as part of their understanding of art as decoration and functional art.  You are invited to visit this art celebration on the first and second floors of TB library. 

一年级的艺术家们一直在探索人类如何利用图案在其“我们所处的时空”单元中建立联系。通过这一探索，他们创作了编织品、使用印刷技术制作的图案纸、编织和彩虹水彩纸。与图书馆合作，艺术家们使用回收纸张、独特的图案纸和过期口罩创作了图案鱼。每条鱼都是独一无二的，庆祝了我们SIS社区的多样性。艺术家们还创作了编织艺术品和袋子，作为他们理解艺术作为装饰和实用艺术的一部分。欢迎您参观太子湾图书馆一楼和二楼的这次艺术庆典。

Thank you to our PSA officers for organizing a parent event at Jingshan this morning. We made some holiday frames and shared some fun and stories with each other. Watch out for our next event!
