We’re excited to welcome all of our students back on Wednesday, 10th January, for the beginning of Semester 2. Additionally, we welcome 28 new students to our vibrant SIS community. 

Semester 2 will be learning filled with hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and inspiring lessons tailored to meet the needs of each of our students.

Food Services

ISS World will begin serving food at Net Valley from Semester 2. We are confident that this will enhance our students' school experience. Additionally, we are actively looking for improvements to food services at JS.

Thank you to all the people who completed the Meatless Monday survey. There was considerable support for this initiative. However, it is clear that, as a community, we aren’t ready to make this leap just yet. While we continue to deepen our understanding of the diverse plant-based protein sources and their benefits, including a lower environmental impact, we are excited to expand our non-meat options in school cafeterias. This initiative will be complemented by closely monitoring dietary trends and actively engaging our community through educational initiatives, fostering a well-informed and health-conscious school environment.

An exert from the recent Conference of the Parties (COP23): “The State of Climate Action 2023 report also advises that, in addition to halving global food loss and waste by 2030, the world should also shift towards more sustainable diets, with lower ruminant meat consumption per capita, particularly in high-consuming regions – with the caveat that this does not apply to low-consuming populations, especially those in low-income countries.” (Boehm et al., 2023).
