This allows for on-the-go reading, personalized content recommendations, and interactive features that enhance the overall reading experience.

To ensure that the library's collection caters to the diverse interests and learning needs of the students, the following strategies are employed:

1

Gathering Student Input: The librarian and library staff actively seek input from students by asking about their reading preferences, interests, and suggestions for new books and resources.

2

Teacher Recommendations: Teachers play a vital role in identifying books and resources that align with the curriculum and students' learning needs.

3

Regular Evaluation: The library staff conducts regular evaluations of the collection to identify outdated or less popular materials.

Library Classes

The library, recognized as the center of learning by the International Baccalaureate (IB) and specifically designed for young learners, plays a vital role in a school setting.

At ISNS, our library classes are carefully designed to enhance students' library skills, cultivate a passion for reading, and explore diverse genres and literature. These classes are engaging, interactive, and customized to cater to specific age groups and grade levels. We adhere to both the Canadian library standards and the IB standards to ensure high-quality education and resources.

EY & PYP

When it comes to engaging Early Years (EY) and Primary Years Programme (PYP) students during library classes, a variety of strategies are employed. Here are a few examples, Storytelling, Hands-on Activities, Book Talks, Interactive Games.

MYP & DP

MYP and DP Programme students in our classes prioritize the development of research skills, information literacy, and media literacy. To actively engage them and foster growth in these areas, we incorporate interactive research activities, collaborative projects, technology integration, and real-world connections.

Library Policies

Our library is designed to allow students, staff members and parents to access a wide range of books and resources from the library. Each person has a library account linked to their student or staff ID number.

They can borrow up-to 8 books per week including 5 English and 3 books in other languages. And they can keep the books for two weeks and renew one time after that.

Programs & Activities

The library has implemented the Library Ambassador Program, where selected students serve as ambassadors. They organize reading events, recommend books, create displays, and lead book discussions, actively promoting reading and utilizing their leadership skills to foster a love for reading among their peers.

In addition, the library has planned reading challenges, author visits, and a book fair throughout the year to engage students and further encourage their interest in reading. These initiatives collectively create an enriching reading environment and cultivate a lifelong passion for reading among students.
