The Theory of Knowledge Course (TOK) – A Bridge to Real-World Knowledge 


TOK is a course taken over two years in the Diploma Programme. At SIS, students understand more about how we create and understand knowledge in various disciplines. Students also learn how language and technology impact how we create, share, and validate knowledge.



The Extended Essay – A Bridge to University


The Extended Essay is a self-directed research project that students design and implement over 40 hours between the first and second years of the Diploma Programme. Students work with a faculty advisor and the Library Sciences to create a research question connected to one of their passions in their subjects. They then design and implement a research methodology, ending with a 4000-word essay. In the process, they develop critical skills needed for university, such as research methodology and project management. SIS student Jace notes that his Extended Essay in Business Management helped him understand how what he was learning in class connected to actual issues in industry. 



The Creativity-Activity-Service Programme (CAS)– A Bridge to the Community 


CAS is a programme that students complete and reflect on outside their subjects. In Creativity, students create a product or performance. In Activity, students reflect on exercise and sport as part of a balanced and healthy lifestyle. In Service, students help serve an authentic need in the community. SIS student Anneke found meaning and personal fulfilment working with a local animal shelter in her Animal Rescue CAS project. Nick applied what he learned in Film class to help create the Gecko News, a bi-weekly news video service for SIS students.

知识理论课程(TOK) -通往现实世界知识的桥梁


知识理论课程(TOK - Theory of Knowledge)是国际文凭大学预科项目中为期两年的课程。在深圳市蛇口外籍人员子女学校(SIS),学生们通过TOK更深刻地了解我们如何创造和理解不同学科的知识。此外,学生还学习语言和技术如何影响我们创造、分享和验证知识的方式。



扩展论文 - 通往大学的桥梁


扩展论文是一个自主研究项目,在国际文凭课程的第一和第二学年之间,学生自行设计和执行,学时共计超过40个小时。学生与指导老师以及图书馆科学部门合作,构建一个与他们学科中感兴趣的研究问题。接着,他们进行研究方法的设计与实施,最终完成一篇4000字的论文。在这个过程中,他们培养了通往大学所需的关键技能,比如研究方法和项目管理。SIS学生Jace分享了,他的商业管理扩展论文帮助他理解了课堂知识与实际行业问题的联系。




创意-活动-服务计划 (CAS) - 连结社区的桥梁


CAS (创意-活动-服务计划) 是一个学生在学科之外完成并进行体验复盘的课程项目。在创造力课程中,学生创造一个产品或进行表演。在活动课程中,学生运用运动和体育,反思及平衡健康的生活方式。在服务课程中,学生帮助满足社区的真实需求。SIS学生Anneke在她发起的动物救援CAS项目中与当地动物收容所合作,找到了服务的意义和个人成就感。学生Nick运用他在电影课上学到的知识,帮助创建了壁虎新闻 (Gecko News),为SIS学生提供一项每两周一次的新闻视频服务。
