Millner Family Geckos since 2009, visit campus | 2009届壁虎家庭重聚SIS
Max Millner and Lara Marie Millner attended SIS from 2009-2013 when they were in the preschool and primary years. When they visited campus recently, they felt a deep sense of belonging, recounting their memories of the safe, green campus and friendly teachers. It felt familiar and welcoming despite the changes! Many features of SIS from that time remain constant at Mountainside, including the warmth they felt in visiting their former classroom spaces and meeting up with a few former teachers! They fondly reunited with Ms. Ann Lopez, Mr. Al-Joseph Cruz, Ms. Xiaoman Ge and Ms. Betty Zhang.

After leaving Shekou, the Millner family spent one year in Hong Kong before returning to Vienna, Austria. They continued their education in their home country, where they had the option to add a fifth year to their high school experience to train for a career. Max, now 18, will graduate this year with all the usual high school subjects and an Interior Design qualification. Lara has two more years and will graduate with a qualification in hospitality and tourism. These are exciting interests with the potential for global careers. Max plans to focus his upcoming mandatory military service in a social service area, ideally using his carpentry and design skills by contributing to a government project in Uganda before considering further studies to become a pilot. Lara has an upcoming internship in a Rosewood group hotel in Vienna, and future placements may bring her to Hong Kong.
