The pace of growth is always faster than we imagined. In this academic year, all the teachers and students of Hualang International Academy have created numerous happy memories and become important partners for each other. This first year of Shenzhen Hualang International Academy has brought much joy and exciting cherished memories.

The academy students who have completed this first year have brought so much life and energy to the campus and have achieved great things both individually and collectively. 

完成首年学业的同学们无论是从个人层面还是集体层面都取得了不可小觑的成就，是你们为我们的校园带来了如此多的活力与生机。

It is a privilege and a pleasure as principal this year to witness the growth of each student and to celebrate their individual achievements however big or small. 

作为校长，我很荣幸也很庆幸能见证今年每一位学生的成长，我要为他们取得的点滴成就喝彩。

Certainly, all of our students have changed, for the better, from the experience and have grown in their self confidence as they have become familiar with the school’s expectations and with the great support of our teachers. 

不得不提，每个学生都在这一年的经历中变成了更好的自己，大家对学校的愿景以及老师们的全力支持都更加心照不宣。

At the start of the year, we met with each and every student and listened to them describing their dreams and aspirations for their future in university and beyond, and I think they are heading down that road supported by our belief in them. 

在今年年初，我们会见了每一位学生，聆听了他们对于大学及未来的设想与愿望。往后，他们始终走在逐梦路上，不断向着心中目标靠拢，而我们的信任就是对他们最大的支持。

I have worked in schools for more than 30 years and 20 years in international leadership, so I have seen students come and go, but I have never met a group so rewarding to work with as the first IGCSE group this year at Hualang. 

我已有30余年的在校工作经历，更有20余年的国际化管理经验。我遇见过太多的学生，却从未遇见过像华朗第一届IGCSE大家庭这样值得合作的团队。

I believe they can achieve anything they want in the future, be entrepreneurs, artists, inventors, scientists and innovators. They are all capable of great contributions to the world and I am very thankful for the parents support of our academy through thick and then.

Education in Hualang goes beyond the classroom and our student, despite pandemic restrictions, have been given plenty of experiential learning. These are some of the competitions and opportunities we have provided for our students.

Model United Nations (MUN)

In November, although our students were not able to go to Shanghai, they participated in the MUN conference online and received several individual awards for their outstanding contributions.

Duke of Edinburgh

爱丁堡公爵国际奖

Part of the weekly schedule has included training for the students in the Duke of Edinburgh. Just this past June 23, we have organized our first mini expedition.

House Events

Every Friday all of our students and teachers are involved in inter house competitions. These events are sometimes led and created by students. These house events are fun and create house spirit and comradery between students and teachers and make a wonderful feeling for the end of the week.

Scholars' Cup

Our students participated in the local regional round of Scholar’s Cup and achieved success winning several awards for their debating and knowledge skills. They plan to participate in further national rounds.

Costume Party

This was an amazing day of dress up, games and learning about the related cultural. The students decorated the 3rd floor and many of our teachers participated in the dress up fun.

International Day

In November 2021, our students celebrated both International Day and Thanksgiving through setting up booths and displays including posters, food games and quizzes celebrating the countries and cultures of our international academy family.

Newsletters

校园快讯

During the online learning period in February and March this year, newsletters were created to update the school community on what was happening on campus during their absence and to celebrate the learning that continued online. Although we were all separated from each other, the newsletters kept the spirits up and reminded us of our shared connections. Online learning was a difficult time for some, but some students showed great resilience during this time.

在今年2至3月的在线学习期间，为了纪念这次特殊的学习经历，分享彼此的校外生活，我们一同创建了校园快讯。虽然我们彼此分离，但通过制作及阅读实时简报，我们的精神得以振奋，它时刻提醒着我们彼此之间仍紧紧相连。在线学习或许是一次艰难的考验，但很多学生都表现出了很强的韧性。

Languages and Literacy

In the second semester several in school events and competitions were held by our Chinese, Spanish and English students and teachers. These included Spelling Bee, writing and poetry competitions and presentations on Spanish authors. Our students also gave a trilingual assembly presentation about the importance and benefits of language learning.

在第二学期，我们针对汉语、西班牙语及英语举办了多项校内活动与比赛，如拼写、写作和诗歌比赛以及关于西班牙语作家的主题演讲。学生们还就语言学习的重要性和益处进行了多语言演讲。

Arts Festival

The arts take a very prominent role at Hualang, and we have had several amazing drama productions and music shows in the Black Box Theatre as well as art exhibitions. We have some very talented actors, musicians, and artists.
