【 PBL华美国际化课程 】 户外研学系列——走入世界之窗,探寻世界风情

科学是一种认识物理世界的技术。艺术则是探索认知边界的手段。科学求真,艺术求美。前者严肃,后者自由。它们同属于人类的精神文明,是人类对深处的探索,对极致的追求。它们在顶峰相遇,成就了伟大与惊喜。



2023年11月29日星期三,华美外国语学校小学部1-5年级开展户外研学。此次研学以英语学科为基础,聚焦1-5年级校内正在实施的PBL跨学科项目化学习主题,延伸到户外,跨学科探索深圳世界之窗公园中各国的建筑艺术、人文历史、自然环境、动植物,从科学与艺术的角度加深对这个世界的认知。根据不同年龄特征,师生们围绕五个方面进行探究:

  • 不同国家的代表性动物及特征;

  • 不同国家的代表性建筑及艺术特征;

  • 雨林、火山在不同国家及地区的分布;

  • 不同国家的人文历史及代表性人物;

  • 地球上不同国家、文化的多元性与彼此的联系。

项目化学习注重“概念驱动教学,兴趣驱动教学”。学生们要理解“特征、原因、联系”这三个重要概念,同时以“动物、植物、环境、地质、分类、信息”等不同学科维度的相关概念为抓手切入学科的探索。


学生要发展以下技能:组织技能、心态调节、时间管理等自我管理技能;倾听、解读等交流技能;绘制、调查等实践操作技能。学科融合:科学、艺术、语言、体育等四方面进行PBL跨学科探究:

  • 科学

能够认识不同国家的代表性动物及特征;能够实地探寻雨林、火山在不同国家及地区的分布;能掌握相关科学知识并迁移到课堂中的学科理论知识。

  • 艺术:

能够欣赏不同国家的代表性建筑及艺术特征;能了解不同国家的人文历史及代表性人物;能带着对世界的理解和自我的感知进行构思和艺术创作。

  • 语言:

能够用中英文解读和世界之窗户外探索相关的视频资料和文本;能够使用书面和口头语言,用中英文清晰地表达自己的观点,解读地球上不同国家、文化的多元性与彼此的联系。

  • 体育:

学生能够掌握基本户外探索方法;能努力实现个人的目标;能够以实际行动进行合作,以发挥小组或团队成员的作用;能欣赏人与人、人与环境之间相互依存的关系。

此次研学目的:

  • 锻炼身体,拓宽视野,发展户外探索能力,提高学生领导力和团队意识。

  • 在真实情境中进行PBL跨学科学习,培养学生专注力、执行力、团队合作能力及PBL跨学科知识的运用能力。


研学宗旨:

  • 研思砥志,专心致志,深思钻研;

  • 躬体力行,亲身体验,努力实行;

  • 行动探索,寻找未知,探究世界;

  • 实践求知,尝试体验,检验真知。

在研学活动开展前后,师生们已经启动课堂内的探究,进行研讨、互动,解读研学中所涉及到的相关资源,打开孩子的视野,头脑风暴,搜集整理研学前后的资料。一天的户外研学为孩子们提供机会,在现实情景中,解决疑问,寻求真知,提升领导力和团队意识。

Science is the technique of understanding the physical world, while art is a means of exploring cognitive boundaries. Science seeks truth, and art seeks beauty. The former is serious, the latter is free. Both belong to human spiritual civilization, representing humanity's exploration of the profound and pursuit of the ultimate. When they meet at the summit, they create greatness and surprises.



On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, grades 1-5 of Meihua Foreign Language School conducted outdoor experiential learning.This learning initiative is based on the English language subject, focusing on the interdisciplinary Project-Based Learning (PBL) themes currently being implemented within grades 1-5. It extends to the outdoors, exploring the architectural art, cultural history, natural environment, and flora and fauna of various countries in Shenzhen's Window of the World Park from both scientific and artistic perspectives.Teachers and students, based on different age characteristics, will delve into exploration across five aspects:

  • Representative animals and characteristics of different countries.

  • Representative architecture and artistic features of different countries.

  • Distribution of rainforests and volcanoes in different countries and regions.

  • Cultural history and representative figures of different countries.

  • The diversity of countries and cultures on Earth and their interconnectedness.



Project-based learning emphasizes "concept-driven teaching" and "interest-driven teaching."Students will understand the three important concepts of "characteristics, reasons, and connections," while exploring different subject dimensions such as "animals, plants, environment, geology, classification, information" as entry points into their subjects.


Students will develop the following skills: organizational skills, mindset regulation, time management, and other self-management skills; listening, interpretation, and other communication skills; drawing, investigation, and other practical operational skills. Interdisciplinary exploration in four areas – science, art, language, and physical education – will be conducted through PBL:

  • Science: 

Ability to recognize representative animals and characteristics of different countries. Ability to explore the distribution of rainforests and volcanoes in different countries and regions. Mastery of relevant scientific knowledge and its application to subject theory in the classroom. 

  • Art: 

Ability to appreciate representative architecture and artistic features of different countries. Understanding of the cultural history and representative figures of different countries. Ability to conceptualize and create art with an understanding of the world and a sense of self.

  • Language: 

Ability to interpret video materials and texts related to the Window of the World outdoor exploration in both Chinese and English. Use of written and oral language to express viewpoints clearly in both Chinese and English, interpreting the diversity of countries and cultures on Earth and their interconnectedness.

  • Physical Education: 

Students will be able to master basic outdoor exploration methods. They will strive to achieve personal goals. They can actively collaborate through practical actions, leveraging the roles of group or team members. They will appreciate the interdependence between individuals and between individuals and the environment.



Objectives of this Outdoor Experiential Learning: 

  • To exercise the body, broaden perspectives, develop outdoor exploration abilities, and enhance student leadership and teamwork awareness.

  • To conduct interdisciplinary learning through PBL in real-life situations, cultivating students' focus, execution, teamwork, and the application of interdisciplinary PBL knowledge.


Philosophy of Outdoor Experiential Learning: 

  • Reflective thinking, concentration, and deep exploration.

  • Hands-on experience, personal involvement, and diligent practice.

  •  Action exploration, seeking the unknown, and investigating the world.

  • Practical knowledge acquisition, experiential learning, and testing true understanding.



Before and after the commencement of outdoor experiential learning activities, teachers and students have initiated inquiries within the classroom, engaged in discussions and interactions, interpreted relevant resources involved in the experiential learning, broadened the children's perspectives, brainstormed ideas, and collected and organized data related to the experiential learning. A day of outdoor experiential learning will provide children with the opportunity to solve questions, seek true knowledge, and enhance leadership and teamwork awareness in real-life situations.
