ACAMIS 篮球赛

Our HS Boys & Girls flew to Beijing last week to compete in the ACAMIS Orange Division Basketball Tournament. The girls finished in 3rd place while the boys came in 4th. Both teams competed to the best of their abilities and learned a lot about themselves through the 7-game, 3-day tournament. Congrats on a great season!

我们的高中男女子篮球队上周飞往北京参加ACAMIS橙色赛区篮球锦标赛。女子队荣获第三名，男子队获第四名。两支球队都在3天7场赛事中全力以赴充分探索自我潜力。我们为本赛季喝彩！

ParentEDU: Introduction to High School

We had a good turnout of parents for our ParentEDU: Introduction to High School. Moving from middle school to high school is an important rite of passage, and we put a lot of effort into preparing students. Having parent support in the process is a key factor in a smooth transition. Thanks for coming out and asking some great questions.

有许多家长参加我们今天的家长讲座《高中课程介绍》。初中升学高中是一个重要过程，我们花了很多精力让学生们做好充足准备。父母的大力支持将是这一过程平稳过渡的关键因素。感谢您的光临并提出了宝贵的意见。

Grade 10 parents and students met with Diploma Programme teachers and students Monday night to learn more information about courses and course selection in Grade 11. Students had a chance to speak to current Grade 11 and 12 students and teachers to better understand the challenges and the opportunities the Diploma Programme presents. Students and Parents also had a chance to speak to University and Careers counselor Lena Khader about post-secondary pathways.

周一晚上，10年级同学和家长有机会与DP文凭课程的师生见面，了解11年级课程及选课的资讯。他们有机会与11和12年级的师生交流，深入了解DP文凭课程的机遇和挑战。他们还有机会与升学及职业咨询顾问 Lena Khader 老师探讨高中毕业后的教育路径。

G10 Mathematics - Polynomial Functions
十年级数学课 - 多项式函数

Grade 10 mathematics classes are currently discussing Polynomial functions. Their teacher, Ms. Judine, is using real-life applications of the functions in a murder mystery game. Students need to solve 5 cases taking place in Dubai, involving finding the maximum height of the fireworks from the Burj Khalifah, solving artefacts in the Jumeirah Archeological sites, etc. With these cases, students find connections between mathematics and physics, and how mathematics is applicable in the world. Deep learning in an engaging delivery!

十年级的数学课目前正在学习多项式函数，他们的Judine老师正在一款悬疑游戏中使用这些函数的现实应用程序。学生需要解决发生在迪拜的5个案例，破解哈利法塔烟花的最大高度以及找到朱美拉考古遗址的文物等。学生们通过这些案例发现数学和物理之间的联系，学习到数学是如何应用于现实生活的。这真是在引人入胜的实践中进行深度学习！

ACAMIS Student Leadership Conference
ACAMIS 学生领导力峰会

We are happy to see our young student leaders exhibit their brilliance and responsibility together with a diverse group of international students from Shenzhen, Dongguan and Macau at the ACAMIS Student Leadership Conference. It was a fantastic opportunity for these young student leaders to collaborate and share great ideas and make friends. They also learned better self-care and positive thinking while contributing to student organizations.

In the ACAMIS Student Leadership Conference, we engaged in many interactive activities that let us meet many new people. The most memorable activity was sharing our leadership experiences and exchanging ideas with others— we heard great ideas that had already taken form as clubs and initiatives in other schools. It was empowering to hear insights from Mr. Rogers and see the commonality that we have in our experiences as student leaders.

很高兴看到我们年轻的学生领袖与深圳、东莞和澳门众多国际学校学生相聚在ACAMIS学生领导力峰会，展现他们的才华与责任感。对于这些年轻的学生领袖来说，这是一个合作，交流分享优秀思想和结识朋友的绝佳机会。他们还从活动中学习到如何更好地自我关怀和积极思考，同时为学生组织的发展做出贡献。

我们在 ACAMIS 学生领导力峰会上参与了许多互动活动，结识了新朋友。最令人难忘的是大家一起分享交流领导力经验 —— 我们听取了很多其他学校已付诸实施成为俱乐部或计划的优秀想法。听取了Mr. Rogers富有洞见的观点，并看到我们作为学生领袖的经历所具有的共性，这非常令人振奋。

Shenzhen International Orchestra

(SIYO) Concert
深圳国际青年交响乐队 (SIYO) 首演崭露头角

We are thrilled to celebrate the resounding success of the Shenzhen International Youth Orchestra's debut concert, which took centre stage at the Theatre of the Bay campus last Saturday. The concert was a magnificent showcase of talent, passion, and dedication from the exceptionally talented young musicians. Heartfelt gratitude goes to Shekou International School for their unwavering support. A special note of appreciation is extended to Ms. Jennifer Tsang, whose assistance has been pivotal in shaping the orchestra's journey.

Next week, the orchestra will be performing another concert at the theatre of ISNS. Everyone, including external guests, is welcome. Audiences MUST scan sign-up in the QR code below to attend this concert. We hope to see you there!

2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake

Recovery Charity
为2024日本地震募捐

Hello Geckos, I am Nanako from grade 9 and I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support last week. We organized a charity event in response to the devastating earthquake that struck the Noto Peninsula in Japan on January 1st, 2024.

During the week of January 19th to 26th, we, along with other Japanese families in SIS, came together to collect donations for the earthquake victims. Through the sale of snacks and drinks, we were able to raise a total of 16,861.66 yuan, exceeding three times our original goal of 5,000 yuan.

We are really impressed by the kind hearts and hopeful wishes shown by numerous individuals who contributed to our donation. We will donate the entire amount to the Japanese Red Cross Society's "Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund." It is our hope that this contribution will provide needed assistance to those affected by the earthquake.

壁虎同学们，我是九年级的 Nanako，我想对大家上周的大力支持表示衷心感谢。我们为响应2024年1月1日袭击日本能登半岛的毁灭性地震组织了一次慈善活动。

在1月19日至26日这一周，我们与SIS其他日本家庭一起为地震灾民募捐。通过出售零食饮料，我们总筹集了16861.66元，超过了原定目标5000元的三倍。

无数为我们捐款的人所表现出的善良之心和充满希望的祝愿给我们留下了深刻的印象。我们将把全部善款捐给日本红十字会的“能登半岛地震救灾基金”。我们希望本次募捐将为受地震影响的人们提供必要援助。

We are pleased to announce that SIS will be hosting the Wind, Brass, and Percussion Workshop at the Net Valley campus in collaboration with QSI and BASIS on March 23rd. We have gratefully invited three external professional musicians/instructors, Ms. Jing Guo, Mr. Charles Ng, and Mr. Samuel Chan, as well as the band directors Mr. Jonathan Stegall from QSI and Mr. Alexander Normansell from BASIS, to conduct this workshop.
