This week has seen a fantastic celebration of reading at Net Valley. It has been amazing to see so many students browsing our new books, guessing their teacher’s favourite reads and finding something new in the book swap. While every week is a good week to celebrate the joy of reading, we would like to thank everyone who has participated in making this year’s Book Week special and stay tuned to see find out the winners of the bookmark competition. 

网谷校区本周迎来了一场精彩的阅读欢庆活动。看到这么多学生浏览我们的新书，猜测老师最喜欢的书，还能在图书交换中发现新惊喜，这让我们非常开心。虽然每周都是欢庆阅读喜悦的好时机，但我们要感谢所有参与活动并让今年的图书周变得尤为特别的大家，请持续关注书签比赛的获奖者。 

We're thrilled to share the highlights from this Wednesday's special event, where our Grade 5 students from The Bay campus embarked on the second of three visits to Net Valley to support their transition to Middle School. The theme for the day was "Learning  Net Valley." 

To provide our Grade 5's with a firsthand experience of learning at NV, small groups of students visited Middle School subject classes. Each G5 student had a personalized copy of their timetable attached to their pink lanyard to help them navigate the campus. They did an exceptional job finding the correct classrooms!!  

The day ended with the students meeting their buddy mentor group and playing icebreaker games. We look forward to the next visit “Leaping to Net Valley” where students will continue to prepare for their big leap to Middle School. 

我们很高兴能分享周三特别活动的亮点，太子湾校区五年级的同学们开始了他们初中升学过渡三次网谷之旅中的第二次。当天主题是体验在网谷校园学习。 

为了让我们五年级同学获得在网谷校区学习的切身经验，学生小组深入初中科目课堂体验学习。 

每位五年级同学都在自己粉色学生吊牌附上了能帮助他们在校园导航的个性化版课程表。他们都非常出色地完成了找到教室的任务！

当天活动结束时，同学们与同伴导师小组相聚一起玩破冰游戏。我们期待着他们下次主题为”飞跃到网谷”的到访，继续为初中升学做准备。 

As some of you may already know, one of our Middle School students and SIS Strings Ensemble members, John K (G8) was selected to perform in the AMIS* MS and HS Honors Orchestra Festival in Jeju, Korea. Both the Middle School and High School Honors Orchestras performed in concert on Saturday, February 24. On a related note, 11 members of this year's SIS Strings Ensemble will travel to Guangzhou on March 8-10 to participate in the Southeast Asia (SEA) Honors Strings Festival. We are excited to share more information about this exciting event in the near future, along with other updates from SIS Strings this semester.

This is our 6th year operating as a service club at SIS. Our team of around 30 students work in fundraising, social media, and education teams to combat the issue of stray animals. The Animal Rescue Club organizes frequent shelter visits to the local animal shelter in Xili - Karuna Rescue, where we help clean, feed, and groom their animals. Our club also holds frequent fundraisers to raise funds for the shelter to help pay rent and vet bills, make sure to look out for our upcoming fundraisers!! We aim to also target the root of the issue of staying animals in Shenzhen city, which is the irresponsible buying and care of pets. We hope to do this by implementing educational themes and activities into the local community.

Grade 11 (DP1) students began their Extended Essay journey in earnest with the Extended Essay Kick-off Event on Saturday, February 24th. After a bracing lunch of pizza, students met with the librarian, Mr. Alastair Fairman, about setting up a research log to guide them on this process. After that, they worked with Extended Essay Coordinator Peter Kimball to understand how to choose a topic area and write effective research questions. The Extended Essay is a 4000-word research project that takes place over nine months and is part of the Core of the Diploma Programme.  

2月24日星期六11年级（DP1）的同学开启了他们的扩展论文学习旅程。美味披萨午餐后，同学们与图书管理员 Alastair Fairman 老师面对面讨论如何设立一个可以指导自己完成此过程的研究日志。他们随后向扩展论文协调员 Peter Kimball 老师学习如何选择主题领域并撰写有效的研究问题。扩展论文是一个历时9个月的四千字的研究项目，是DP文凭课程核心的一部分。
