During the long history of ancient Chinese society, “qin, chess, calligraphy and painting" were traditionally regarded as the paths of the literati to cultivate their moral character. The Guqin, with its clear, harmonious, light and elegant musical character, was the first among music, chess, calligraphy and painting, as it implied the literati's proud and unconventional attitude towards the world.

自古以来，“琴、棋、书、画”历来被视为文人雅士修身养性的必由之径。古琴因其清、和、淡、雅的音乐品格寄寓了文人风凌傲骨、超凡脱俗的处世心态，在音乐、棋术、书法、绘画中居于首位。

让古琴唤醒你的耳朵，带你感受不一样的音乐世界。本次古琴音乐会上，张萌老师演出的多首古曲横跨了两千年的风雨跌宕，她的讲座与精彩演绎引人入胜。

"The more national, the more global." Ms. Zhang Meng guided the analysis while immersing herself in the performance. She said that music has no national boundaries and that musical exchange is an important element of cultural exchange between the East and the West. When she once performed in Europe, she met a Swedish guzheng enthusiast who was learning Chinese because of her love for the instrument.

“越是民族的，越是世界的。”张萌老师一边沉浸演奏一边导赏解析。她说，音乐是没有国界的，音乐交流是中西文化交流的重要内容。她曾经在欧洲演出时，遇到一个瑞典古琴发烧友，因为喜欢古琴而学习中文。

We value the culture of Jing Chu. This concert will be the first of a series of events to explore the culture of ISA Wuhan .The theme of the concert is "When Boya met Ziqi", which is an in-depth interpretation of the heritage of the Chu culture of high mountains and flowing water. The programme is a celebration of the spirit of traditional culture. In the coming school year, ISA Wuhan will continue to explore the culture of Chu and incorporate its essence into our daily teaching and research work.
