Books are like old friends with deep emotions, bringing us comfort in both joy and sorrow. Reading good books not only nourishes our inner peace but also enriches our souls. This April, we hold a Reading Month event in ISA Wuhan Library with the theme of "Starting from the Heart, Enjoying Reading". 


书卷多情似故人,晨昏忧乐每相亲。品读佳作,是内心的温润泰然,更是灵魂的丰盈饱满。四月,武汉爱莎图书馆举办了主题为“从心开始,乐享阅读“的读书月活动。 



The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) defines libraries as “combinations of people, places, collections, and services that aid and extend learning and teaching.” 


国际文凭组织(IBO)将图书馆定义为 “图书馆涵盖了人,空间,藏书以及服务,这些资源共同协力帮助和提供学习和教学。” 


In alignment with this definition, the ISA Wuhan Library strives to create a versatile, inviting learner-orientated learning and communication hub with rich and deep collections where a culture of integration, information literacy, and passion for reading is fostered, by providing our students, teachers, and members of the community with the space, resources along with quality academic support as well as thoughtful service needed to extend learning and inspire exploration.

Reading a good book is like lighting a lamp in our hearts. Let's look back at the wonderful moments of the "Reading Month" event together.

The Reading Month in ISA Wuhan International Kindergarten encouraged and greatly promoted reading among our students. It included fun activities like door decoration, shared reading, pajama parties, and comic book presentations. These activities create a literary environment and cultivate a love of reading among our students. Celebrating Reading Month is an enjoyable way to inspire students to become lifelong readers. 


武汉爱莎幼儿园的“阅读月”活动极大地促进了孩子们的阅读。从门框装饰,共享阅读,睡衣派对,到漫画书介绍……这些活动为我们幼儿园的孩子们创造了一个有趣而充实的文学环境,培养了学生们对阅读的热爱。通过举办这次充满欢乐的“阅读月”活动,我们也期望激励学生们向终身阅读者不断迈进!

To celebrate World Book Day and the joys of reading, ISA Wuhan International Primary School designated April as “Around the World in 28 Days,” which took the form of a reading month in which many exciting activities and events were held! Students read daily. Each page would enable them to travel around the world and achieve the goal of traveling worldwide by reading! 


为了庆祝世界读书日,感受阅读的乐趣,武汉爱莎外籍人员子女学校将四月份定为“环游世界28天”,以阅读为主题的读书月活动在校园内展开,许多令人兴奋的活动和事件陆续举行!学生们每天阅读,每一页都在增进他们环游世界的旅程,通过阅读实现全球旅行的目标! 



World Book Day is celebrated on April 23rd. To prepare them for the events held at local libraries and excite children to be life-long readers, events were scheduled DAILY to inspire and motivate students to read as a part of their daily routine. 


我们在4月23日庆祝世界读书日。为了让学生们为当地图书馆举办的活动做好准备,并激发孩子们成为终身阅读者,我们安排了每天的活动,以激励和鼓励学生将阅读作为日常生活的一部分。 


READING  MONTH



Equipping the students with the tools necessary to read, enjoy reading, and love reading is very important to ISAWHIS. Literacy (reading and writing) building is an essential part of education at ISAWHIS, and extensive work is done in virtually all subjects to inspire and develop reading and writing. This reading month gave students a chance to show their literacy skills and development, as well as to continue growing their literacy skills! 


为学生提供阅读所需的工具、享受阅读和热爱阅读非常重要阅读和写作能力的培养是武汉爱莎外籍人员子女学校小学教育不可或缺的一部分,我们在几乎所有的科目中都进行了大量的工作,以激发和发展阅读和写作能力。这个读书月让学生有机会展示他们的读写能力的发展,同时不断提高他们的读写能力!

After these activities, students armed with reading knowledge, skills, and newly exchanged books are ready to continue reading daily and have a lot of fun doing so! Students were proud to receive awards and house points for the best book character costume, best windowpane, best book report, and the most pages read!


在这些活动之后,学生们拥有了阅读知识、技能和新交换的书籍,为坚持每天阅读并享受阅读的乐趣做好了准备!学生们为在最佳书籍角色扮演、最佳窗户装饰、最佳书评最多阅读页数的活动中获得奖励和院舍积分,感到非常自豪!

Wenhua PYP students introduced World Book Day in the form of a dialogue, which led to the question "Why do we need to read?" The children also expressed their views: "Because we need knowledge." "I want to be happy." "Reading makes us know a lot of things we don't know yet. ......" The discussion among the students was wonderful. Although there is no single standard answer, everyone has found the meaning of reading. 


文华PYP的学生们以对话的形式介绍了世界读书日,从而引发“我们为什么要读书?”的思考,学生们也表达了自己的观点:“因为我们需要知识。”“我想获得幸福。”“读书让我们知道了自己还不知道的事情还有很多……”同学们的讨论精彩纷呈。虽然没有唯一标准的答案,但是大家纷纷找到了读书的意义。 




In addition, Wenhua PYP students were also exposed to several different forms of poetry in the ‘Reading Month’ activities.  For example English poetry - wandering lines, modern Chinese poetry, and Ancient Chinese poetry. As students delved deeper into reading, the children generated more and more reflections. How did poetry come to be? How are wandering lines similar to and different from our modern Chinese poetry? 


此外,文华PYP的学生们还在读书月活动中接触了几种不同诗歌形式,如:英文诗—徘句,中文现代诗、中国古代诗歌等。“诗歌是怎么来的呢?我们学习了俳句,它和我们的中国的现代诗又有什么相同和不同呢?现代诗这种文体会随着时代而消亡吗?我们能为古诗的传承做些什么呢?……” 


Will the modern poetry genre die out with the times? What can we do to pass on ancient poetry? Perhaps children are on their way to finding answers, but these curiosities about the world keep encouraging them to explore. 


随着阅读的深入,学生产生了越来越多的学习思考,也许他们正在寻找答案的路上,但是这些对世界的好奇却一直鼓励着他们探究和钻研。

In this Reading Month, the students in the secondary school have risen to the challenge of reading as many pages as possible each day to support the school’s aim of ‘traveling around the world’ in 28 days. Each student also prepared a presentation to tell others about the book they have been reading. The teachers were impressed with the range of books the student have chosen.  


在这个读书月,外籍中学部的学生们在努力挑战每天尽可能多地阅读,以完成“在28天内环游世界”的目标。每个学生还准备了个人演讲,介绍他们正在阅读的书,所选择的书籍范围令老师们感到印象深刻。



We have also incorporated House competition activities into Reading Month. Students have completed ‘Guess the book from the emoji’, and they have deciphered the book title from the picture of things associated with the book. Each Grade has also created a literary-themed windowpane in their classroom. This week, there will be a comic strip writing competition.


外籍中学部还将院舍比赛活动纳入了阅读月。学生们完成了“从表情符号猜书名”的任务,他们从与书相关的图片中完成了书名解密。每个年级的学生们还在各自的教室里创造了不同文学主题的窗户装饰。此外,学生们还举办了漫画故事写作比赛。

外籍学生撰写的读后感



The reading month culminated with a costume parade, where students dressed as characters from their favourite books. The students dressed up as their favorite characters from books and bring a wonderful performance to the audience.


随着“角色时装秀”活动的到来,外籍中学部的阅读活动迎来了高潮,学生们纷纷模仿他们书中最喜欢的角色进行了换装表演,为观众们带来了一场精彩绝伦的视觉盛宴。

The theme of Wenhua MYP Reading Month is "Discovering History and Society From Literature". The reading method adopted in this reading activity is based on the comparative reading of Chinese and foreign novels with intertextuality. The students in each class were divided into two groups. One group chose modern and contemporary novels that reflected the context of China's social history, and the other group chose foreign-translated literary works that reflected Western social life. 


文华MYP读书月的主题是“从文学中发现历史与社会”,此次阅读活动采用的读书方法是基于互文性的中外小说比较阅读。各班级同学共分为两个组,一组同学选择了反应中国社会历史语境的现当代小说,另一组同学选择了反应西方社会生活的外国翻译文学作品。 



During the reading process, the two groups of students need to independently complete the PPT production and post-reading feedback writing and request oral sharing in the classroom or library. During the sharing process, the two groups of classmates can also ask questions, criticize each other and express different opinions. 


在阅读的过程中,两组同学们需要各自独立完成PPT制作和读后感撰写,并要求在课堂或图书馆进行口头分享。在分享的过程中,两组同学之间还可以互相提问、批评并发表不同意见。

After sharing, the teacher will lead students to review and reflect on the process of reading and thinking. Through this comparative literature reading activity, the students became familiar with the intertextuality literary inquiry ideas emphasized in the IB course.  


分享结束后,老师会带领同学对阅读和思考的过程进行复盘和反思。通过这次比较文学阅读活动,同学们熟悉了IB课程所强调的互文性的文学探究思路。 


It also trained their critical thinking and oral expression skills. More importantly, these literary works contain the cultural transformation of Eastern and Western societies from tradition to modernity, and then to postmodernism. Therefore, in the sharing and resonance of students' views full of "polyphony" and "multi-voice", their global perspective and reflective ability towards individuals, identities, and communities have also been further improved. 


同时这一过程也训练了同学们的批判性思维口头表达能力。更重要的是,这些文学作品背后蕴涵了东西方社会从传统到现代再到后现代社会的文化转型,因此在同学们充满“复调”和“多声部”的观点分享和共鸣中,他们的全球性视野和对个体、身份与社区的反思能力也得到了进一步提高。

In April, all the teachers and students of the CNC Department held a series of reading activities "Teachers and students share the joy of reading" in the library. At the beginning of the activity, Director Zhou Hongyue made a speech,  "Diligence is the road to the book mountain, happiness is the boundless ship of the sea of learning", reading is a kind of enjoyment, we should love reading, read more books, read good books,  let "happy" reading become our life habit, let books accompany our growth.  


四月,CNC学部全体师生在图书馆举行了“师生共享读书乐”的系列读书活动。活动伊始,周主任发表致辞,“书山有路勤为径,学海无涯乐作舟”,读书是一种享受,我们应该爱读书,多读书,读好书,会读书,让“悦”读成为我们的一种生活习惯,让书香陪伴我们的成长。



This activity has not only improved the students' literary taste and humanistic quality, but also created a strong reading atmosphere for teachers and students, and enriched the school's cultural heritage, letting teachers and students enjoy the happiness of reading together! 


这次活动既提升了学生的文学品味和人文素养,也创设了师生浓郁的读书氛围,并且还丰富了学校的人文底蕴,让师生一起享受读书的快乐! 


In the reading activity, Director Zhou Hongyue led the whole group of teachers and students to read "the old man and the sea", and shouted out "People can be eliminated, but cannot be defeated" fighter spirit, teacher Wang and students brought "guns, germs, and steel: the fate of human society", teacher Li and students brought "four seasons in the book" let us feel a natural beauty. 


在读书活动中,周主任带领全组师生诵读《老人与海》,喊出“人可以被消灭,但不能被打败”的斗士精神,王老师和同学们带来了《枪炮、病菌与钢铁:人类社会的命运》,李老师和同学们带来的《书中四季》让我们感受到自然美景。

Mozart's Sonata in G Major performed by students Fan and Zhou made us intoxicated.  There is also "The Three-Body Problem" brought by Mr. Zuo and his classmates, "Charlotte's Web" shared by Principal Wang, Mr. Wang, and his classmates, "Beauty or Tiger" shared by Mr. Song and his classmates, and "Far Away Sunflower Field" shared by Principal Wang and his classmates. The programmes were truly an audio-visual enjoyment for the students and teachers present.


樊同学和周同学合奏的《莫扎特G大调奏鸣曲》让我们沉醉其中。还有左老师和同学们带来的《三体》、王校长、王老师和同学们分享的《夏洛的网》,宋老师和同学们分享的《美女还是老虎》、以及汪校长和同学们分享的《遥远的向日葵地》给在座师生带来了一场绝妙的视听盛宴。

In order to broaden students' reading horizons and continuously improve their literary, under the organization of Senior Chinese Teacher Mr. Feng, ISA Wuhan Wenhua High School students were organized to carry out a special reading activity in the library every week, carry out a series of reading activities as planned, and write reading notes, which were excellent. 


为了扩大同学们的阅读视野,不断提升同学们的文学素养,在语文特级教师丰特的组织下,武汉爱莎文华高中每周都会组织学生到图书馆开展一次专题阅读活动,按计划进行系列阅读,并撰写读书笔记,部分优秀阅读笔记也在教室墙上进行了贴墙展示。

The "Reading Month" event helped students better understand the importance of reading, thus inspiring them to be more actively engaged in reading and enjoying the pleasure of reading. As a result, they will benefit greatly in their future learning and life. 


本次“读书月”活动让学生更好地认识到阅读的重要性,激励学生们更加积极地投入到阅读中,享受阅读的乐趣,以支持他们在未来的学习和生活中不断受益。
