During the event, Mr Shawn Felton gave a detailed introduction to the admissions criteria and process of Ivy League Universities and highly selective universities in the United States, which includes a wide range of considerations such as curricular/academic rigour, GPA, SAT/ACT scores, and so on. He emphasised that academic rigour is key to measuring a student's ability and potential, while a resume with meaningful engagement and involvement is equally indispensable.
At the same time, he further emphasised the importance of personal statements, letters of recommendation and interviews in the admissions process. He pointed out that these materials not only demonstrate students' academic abilities and achievements, but also reflect their personalities, interests and values. He encouraged students to write authentically and thoughtfully, showing their own stories and uniqueness.
