How’s the curriculum of IBDP at ISA Wuhan?

爱莎武汉的IB体系课程是如何设置的?

IB为国际文凭组织International Baccalaureate的首字母缩写,是联合国教科文组织非盈利教育基金在上世纪60年代为各国外交官子女设立的超越国家边界的教育体系,经过半个多世纪的实践,已成为全球公认最成熟的国际化全人教育课程。其中IB PYP为小学项目、MYP为中学项目、DP为大学预科项目。


爱莎武汉整体采用IB的框架,且采用“倒推式”课程设置思路,按照“培养目标→理想职业→所需的知识能力素质→课程与教学内容”的次序进行课程设置,在落实全人教育的同时,帮助学生寻求最适配的方式走到世界上。


在IBDP六大学科组与三大核心课程之外,学校提供超过40门丰富的艺体类拓展课程,包括马术、击剑、游泳、高尔夫等。学校配备1v1专业升学指导服务,帮助学生定制最适配自己兴趣与特长的成长方案与升学路径。

IB is an acronym for International Baccalaureate, an education system established by the UNESCO Non-Profit Education Fund in the 1960s for the children of diplomats in various countries that transcends national boundaries. The IB PYP is the primary school programme, MYP is the secondary school programme and DP is the pre-university programme.


ISA Wuhan adopts the IB framework and adopts a "reverse" approach to curriculum development, following the sequence of "training objectives → desired career → required knowledge, abilities, and qualities → curriculum and teaching content", helping students to find the most appropriate way to explore the world while implementing a whole-person education.


In addition to the six IBDP subject groups and three core curricular, the school offers over 40 CCA, including equestrian, fencing, swimming, and golf. The school also provides a one-to-one guidance service to help students find their own university pathways and strengths.

What’s the difference among IB, A Level and AP?

Of all the international curriculum systems, only the IB programme offers a full school-age curriculum for Primary Year Programme (IBPYP), Middle Year Programme (IBMYP) and Diploma Programme (IBDP), with AL and AP only covering the high school level. The three mainstream international programmes have their own characteristics in terms of curriculum structure, examination methods and progression to higher education. The IBDP programme offers a mix of arts and science subjects to better support students in developing their overall abilities; the AP (Advanced Placement) programme is a university-level pre-requisite course offered at high school level; and the A Level programme is the UK's General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCE) Advanced Level programme. It is also a university entrance exam course for UK students, somewhat similar to the GCE.

Adapted Language Teaching


All IB schools have a strong focus on language learning, with a strong emphasis on the development of the native language as well as the acquisition of another language. The school has a weekly English curriculum (eg. 5 lessons) based on grade level and each classroom is taught in a tiered format, with teachers designing different teaching styles within each class according to the child's language ability, to achieve adaptability of studying.

Each student is assigned to a classroom teacher, a language teacher, a subject teacher, a DP coordinator, and a university counselor to help them explore their potential.

The IB curriculum is the gold standard of the international curriculum. To accommodate the use of the curriculum in different countries, the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) does not have a fixed version of teaching textbooks for the curriculum, and teachers in different IB schools need to create their own IBDP materials and textbooks to meet the requirements and standards of the DP curriculum, while taking into account their own regional culture and drawing on quality teaching resources from around the world.
