Professor Zheng’s Visit 港中大(深圳)前海国际事务研究院院长

On July 11th, Mr. Zheng Yongnian, Director of the Institute of Qianhai International Cooperation Legal Studies and Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and other leaders visited ISA Science City International School (Hereinafter referred as ISASC). Directors of ISA International Education Group and Chairman of ISA International Education Group (Hereinafter referred to as ISAIEG), Mr. Paul Bawden, Head of ISA Science City School, Mr. Tom Kline, ISA Academy Head of School, and Ms. Beth Jones, Director of Marketing and Communication, accompanied the visit.

7月11日,香港中文大学(深圳)教授、前海国际事务研究院院长郑永年等一行莅临广州科学城爱莎外籍人员子女学校(以下简称爱莎科学城学校)调研指导,爱莎国际教育集团董事、爱莎科学城学校校长Paul Bawden先生、爱莎国际学苑校长Tom Kline先生以及爱莎国际教育集团市场传讯总监Beth Jones女士等陪同考察。


Professor Zheng is a world-renowned expert on China and has been focusing on and exploring the modernisation of education and the road to a strong education nation for many years, with both an international perspective and a Chinese perspective. According to Professor Zheng, the "educationally strong country" that China seeks today is not simply to achieve a strong country through education, but to become the strongest and best in the international education field. To achieve this level of educational strength, it is necessary to promote the modernisation of education, the focus of which is the modernisation of people. Professor Zheng pointed out that the key to advancing human modernisation at a high level and nurturing and attracting talent is to remain open.

郑永年教授是世界著名的中国问题研究专家,多年来也一直关注和探索教育现代化和教育强国之路,兼具国际视野和中国视角。郑教授认为,当今我们所追求的“教育强国”并不是简单地通过教育去实现强国,而是成为国际教育领域的强者、佼佼者。要实现这一层面的教育强国,则必须推进教育现代化,而教育现代化的重心是人的现代化。郑教授指出,高水平推进人的现代化、培育吸引人才的关键在于保持开放。


Professor Zheng and his team toured the campus facilities of ISASC, including the auditorium, library, sports field, Olympic standard swimming pool, indoor sports hall and school buildings of all sub-schools, and had a discussion with the Boards of ISAIEG and school leaders.

郑教授一行参观了爱莎科学城学校的戏剧演艺厅、图书馆、足球场、国际赛事级的游泳馆、室内体育馆及各学部教学楼等校园设施,并与校董、校领导进行了座谈交流。


Professor Zheng highly recognised ISA's philosophy of education in sync with the world and its high standards and commitment to nurturing people. He encouraged ISA to nurture talents who will promote the integration of China and the world. The Qianhai Institute of International Affairs at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), founded by Professor Zheng, is based on the philosophy of "studying the world, exploring the way forward, understanding the principles of heaven, and governing the world", and the vision of "creating an international education ecosystem of multiculturalism. This vision of "creating an international education ecosystem with multicultural integration" is in line with ISA's mission to develop students into "rule changers and makers" who are culturally competent and future-proof.

郑教授高度认可爱莎与世界同步的教育理念以及在育人方面的高标准、高投入。郑教授鼓励爱莎,要培养促进中国与世界融合的人才。郑教授领衔创立的香港中文大学(深圳)前海国际事务研究院,以“研究世界、探索前路、体认天理、经世治平”为理念,与爱莎基于IB课程框架融合多国课程标准,重视母语和文化融合,秉承“打造多国文化融合的国际教育生态系统”愿景,旨在将学生培养成具备文化融合能力,能适应未来并推动未来发展的“规则更新者和制定者”的使命相互呼应。

In order to better meet the development needs of the times, promote the two-way enhancement of students' international perspective and local identity, and cultivate students' awareness of the community of human destiny, the Guangzhou Education Bureau specifically issued the Guidance Opinions on Further Promoting International Understanding Education in Guangzhou Primary and Secondary Schools in 2022. Under the guidance of the Opinions, ISAIEG hopes to strengthen communication with the Qianhai Institute of International Affairs of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), deepen cooperation in education for international understanding and the cultivation of global competence of talents, take advantages of both sides in terms of platforms and resources, further cooperate in international cooperation, international exchange, mutual learning and exchange of teacher and student, and promote the opening and the collaboration will promote openness and innovation in educational concepts and social practices in the Greater Bay Area.

为更好地顺应时代的发展需求,推进学生国际视野与本土认同的双向提升,培养学生人类命运共同体意识,广州市教育局2022年专门印发了《关于深入推进广州市中小学国际理解教育的指导意见》。爱莎国际教育集团希望在《意见》的指导下与香港中文大学(深圳)前海国际事务研究院加强沟通,在国际理解教育及人才全球胜任力培养等方面深化合作,发挥双方在平台及资源方面的优势,在国际合作、国际交流、师生互访互鉴互学等方面进一步合作,推动湾区教育理念和社会实践的开放与创新。

Zheng Yongnian

郑永年

香港中文大学(深圳)教授

前海国际事务研究院院长

Professor Zheng graduated from Peking University (BA in International Relations, 1981-1985 & MA in Political Science, 1985-1988) and Princeton University (MA & PhD in Political Science, 1990-1995), Professor Zheng served as the former Director of the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore (2008-2019), and the former Research Director and Professor of the China Policy Institute, University of Nottingham (2005-2008). In July 2008, he succeeded Prof. Dali Yang and has since served as director of the East Asian Institute, a Singaporean think tank under a statute of the National University of Singapore. He once worked as the researcher in Social Science Research Council and John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in the United States. Professor Zheng is the Co-editor of the Series on Contemporary China (World Scientific Publishing) and Editor of China Policy Series (Routledge). He was also the founding editor of China: An International Journal.

任罗特里奇出版社(Routledge)《中国政策丛书》(China Policy Series)主编和世界科技书局(World Scientific)《当代中国研究丛书》(Series on Contemporary China)共同主编。获中国北京大学法学学士(1985)、法学硕士(1988)、美国普林斯顿大学政治学硕士(1992)、博士(1995)。历任中国北京大学政治与行政管理系讲师;英国诺丁汉大学中国政策研究所教授和研究主任;新加坡国立大学东亚研究所资深研究员、所长。曾任美国社会科学研究会 (Social Science Research Council)和美国麦克阿瑟基金会(John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation)研究基金研究员。

His research topics mainly focus on international relations, foreign policy, Sino-US relations, China's internal transformation and its external relations. In recent years, he has published and edited about 100 books, including 10 monographs in English. He has published dozens of academic papers in international academic journals.

主要从事国际关系、外交政策、中美关系、中国内部转型及其外部关系研究。近年来,先后出版和主编著作近百部,其中英文专著10部。在国际学术刊物上发表学术论文数十篇。
