My favourite book in this competition is The Island Bookshop. This book made me feel the charm of books. I was very nervous at the beginning of the competition, afraid that I would miss the mark. But as time went on, I became excited and my whole being was immersed in the enthusiastic atmosphere of the competition. My heart was still pounding when I stood on the stage at the end of the competition to receive my award. I felt proud to have had the opportunity to take part in this competition and achieve the honour.

在这次的比赛书目中，我最喜欢的是《岛上书店》，这本书让我感受到了书籍的魅力。比赛开始时心里很紧张，害怕自己会失误，但随着时间的推移，越到后面情绪越激动，整个人都沉浸在比赛的热烈氛围之中，直到比赛结束站在舞台上领奖的时候，仍然热血沸腾。为有机会参加这次比赛并取得荣誉而感到自豪。

This process of reading books quietly and taking reading notes has not only broadened my breadth of reading, but also increased my interest in reading. In particular, with the book Three Bodies, I watched the TV series before reading the book, and the contrast gave me a full sense of the unique charm of the text. The process of taking part in the competition was very intense, but the atmosphere was something special. I enjoyed the challenge. I benefited from this event by enriching my after-school life and gaining experience in competitions.

安静阅读书籍、做阅读笔记的这个过程，不仅拓宽了我的阅读广度，也提高了我对阅读的兴趣。特别是《三体》这本书，我先看电视剧后阅读纸质书，对比之下，让我充分感受到了文字独有的魅力。参加比赛时的过程非常紧张，但是这种气氛是一次很特别的经历，我很喜欢这样的挑战。这次的活动丰富了我的课余生活和比赛经验，令我受益良多。

I read a number of books in preparation for the competition, my favourites being Xu San Guan's Story of the Sold Blood and The Lychees of Chang An. I usually spent most of my free time after school reading these books and it took me a month and a half in total from the time I started to thoroughly understand all the details and meanings behind the books. Our whole team worked hard to prepare for the competition and the end result proved that the work was worthwhile. We were the school with the highest percentage of correct answers in the first round of the competition and came second in the second round. Through this competition, I found that reading really does open one's eyes to a different side of the world and is a great opportunity to enrich one's knowledge base equally as it is a way to relax.

为准备这次比赛我阅读了多本书，其中最喜爱的是《许三观卖血记》和《长安的荔枝》。平常多数的课后空闲时间我都用来阅读这些书目，从开始阅读到彻底了解书籍的所有细节和背后含义我总共花了一个半月的时间。我们整个队伍的队员们都在努力备赛，最终结果证明功夫不负有心人，比赛第一轮我们成为正确率最高的学校，第二轮取得了第二名的成绩。通过这次比赛，我发现读书真的让人看到了世界的另一面，是丰富自己知识储备的好机会同样也是让人放松下来的方法。

This was my first time attending BOB and it was a new experience for me and a valuable learning opportunity. It encouraged me to read on my own after school and pick up books that I normally rarely choose. There were six books in the competition and one of my favourites was The Island Bookshop. With its colourful content and slightly suspenseful plot, it has been a great reading experience for me.

After months of reading and preparation by two CLL teachers, Miss Tina and Mr Ma, our combined team of G10 and G9 won the silver medal in the high school category. For me, not only did we win the award, but we also gained knowledge in the process and prepared ourselves for the upcoming DP stage.

这是我第一次参加BOB，对我来说这是一次全新的体验，也是一次珍贵的学习机会，它鼓励我课后自主阅读，拾起平常鲜少选择的书籍。比赛书目有六本，其中我最喜爱的是《岛上书店》，它拥有丰富的内容色彩和略带悬疑的剧情，成为了我很棒的一次阅读经历。

经过数月的阅读，以及两位CLL的老师：Miss.Tina与Mr.Ma的赛前准备下，我们G10和G9联合起来的团队在高中组荣获了银奖。对我来说，我们不仅获得了奖项，也在这个过程中累积了知识，为即将到来的DP阶段做好了准备。

Through this BOB competition, I deeply felt the importance of teamwork. From the preparations for the competition to the process of the competition, the teachers and students contributed a lot and gained a lot. All six of us in the team were very important and each of us did our best to complete the two rounds together. The process showed me that unity is strength.

通过这次BOB比赛，我深切感受到了团队合作的重要性。从前期的比赛准备到比赛过程中，老师和同学都付出了很多，也收获颇丰。在团队中我们六个人缺一不可，每个人都尽到了自己最大的努力，一起完成两场比赛，过程中让我体会到了团结就是力量这句话的份量。

My favourite book in this reading list is The Island Bookshop, which tells the story of the main character who is devastated by the loss of his wife and loses hope in life, but is healed and redeemed by a young girl he happens to adopt. One of the main character's words in the book has always struck me: the most important word in the world is 'love', and it is love that makes all people what they are.

We came second in the reading competition. The first round was multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank, and we were able to work together to take first place; the second round was a quiz, and although we answered every question, we were not fast enough to finish first. I was very lucky to be able to participate in this competition with my buddies and it was a great experience.

在这次阅读书目中，我最喜欢的书是《岛上书店》，它讲述主人公失去妻子后悲痛欲绝，对生活失去希望，但被偶然收养的小女孩治愈和救赎的故事。主人公在书中说的一句话一直打动着我：世界上最重要的词是“爱”，是爱成就了所有人。

这次阅读比赛我们拿了亚军。第一轮是选择题和填空题，我们不负众望，共同努力下拿下第一名；第二轮是抢答题，尽管我们会答每一道题，但由于手速不够快，与第一名擦肩而过。我非常幸运能和小伙伴们一起参加这个比赛，这是一次难能可贵的经历。

Not long ago, my classmates and I participated in a reading competition at AISG, which was very rewarding. Although we did not place well in this competition, we were all very excited to say what we could think of and to think about the questions we didn't know.

I was a bit nervous before the competition, but when I saw how hard my teammates were working, it all went away. I also saw how hard others had worked on their reading and I think that's something we should learn from. We will definitely keep up the good work and try to get a place next year and go to the next level!

前不久我和的同学们参加了在广州美国人学校举办的阅读比赛，收获颇丰。虽然大家在这次的比赛没有取得好名次，可是在赛场上，大家都摩拳擦掌，把自己想到的答案说出来，不会的问题也绞尽脑汁的思考。

在比赛前我本来有点紧张，但是看到认真努力的队友，这个紧张也便烟消云散了。我也看到了别人读书的努力，书页都翻黄翻卷了，我觉得这点值得我们学习。我们一定会再接再厉，争取明年可以拿到名次，更上层楼！

I have gained a lot from this Chinese Battle of the Books. I think reading is a very interesting thing to do. In preparation for the competition, I also learnt some new skills, such as how to summarise the key points of a book and how to understand literature from different aspects.

Reading is also meaningful because it gives us a broader vision of the world.

这次中文阅读擂台赛，让我收获了颇多。我觉得读书是一件很有意思的事情。在比赛准备过程中，我也学习到了一些新的技能，比如，如何总结书中的重点内容、如何从不同的方面的了解文学作品。

读书的意义还在于给了我们更广阔的视觉去看待这个世界。

Through this competition, I saw the efforts and strengths of students from other schools, which gave me more motivation. In the process of reading, I discovered the joy of reading. I also gained a deep impression that writing a book is not an easy task for an author, it takes a lot of time and effort to complete it. Special mention must be made of the book "King of Trees - King of Chess - King of Children", a saga of ordinary life that really captures the heart.

通过这次的比赛，我看到了别的学校同学的努力与实力，这给了我更多的动力。在读书要过程中，我发现了读书的乐趣。我还深刻地感受到作者写书不是一件简单的事，需要耗费大量的时间和精力去完成，要把握好情节的发展，什么时候发生，什么时候结束，都必须要有巧妙的手法来实现转换，还要添加丰富的细节，这样“书”才会变得有趣生动。特别要提下《树王·棋王·孩子王》这本书，这种平凡生活里的传奇故事，实在有着抓心的力量。

I have gained a lot from this competition, increasing my reading and comprehension, especially a better understanding of Lu Xun's "Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk". In preparing for this competition, I also discovered that reading books is a wonderful thing.

During the competition, I felt that our squad had weaknesses and strengths. I feel that if we had paid more attention to detail and been familiar with the questions we would have been able to do the best we could. But we worked well together as a team during the competition and hopefully next time we can get top three.

在这次比赛我收获很大，增加了我的阅读量和理解力，尤其是对鲁迅的《朝花夕拾》有了更好的理解。在准备这个比赛的过程中，我还发现看书是一件很美好的事情。

在比赛的时候，我觉得我们小队有缺点也有优点。我觉得如果我们能够更加注重细节，并且熟悉问题，我们一定能够做得最好；但是我们在比赛时我们团队合作默契，希望下一次我们可以拿到前三。

I was particularly honoured to represent my school in the Chinese Battle of the Books for the junior school group and I gained a lot from this competition. Firstly, my biggest gain was that I was able to communicate and discuss with each other and students from different grades, which improved my communication skills. Secondly, in the process of reading, I learnt some new reading skills, such as looking for central sentences or central ideas, so that I could read faster and remember the plot of the book well. Although I did not make it to the top three in this competition, I saw the strength of many good teams and wanted to learn more from them, their hard work and their tacit team spirit.

我特别荣幸能代表学校初中组中文擂台赛比赛，这次比赛我收获了很多。首先我最大的收获就是可以和不同年级的同学相互交流和探讨，提升了我的沟通技能。其次，在读书的过程中，我也学会了一些新的阅读技巧，比如寻找中心句或者中心观点，这样既可以加快阅读速度，又可以很好得记住书中的情节。虽然这次比赛没有成功进入前三，但是看到了很多优秀的队伍的实力，想要多多向他们学习，学习他们的努力刻苦，学习他们默契的团队精神。
