As Pelé mentions, this success has been no accident. At the beginning of the season, we had a core group of girls who were passionate and ready to play. However, we didn't even have enough players to put out a starting line-up of 7. Thanks to the recruitment efforts of these girls and our PHE department, we eventually snowballed into a squad of 16, who have all remained with us throughout the whole season. The majority of these girls had next to no football experience. What they did have was passion, hard work and dedication.

Rather than talk about season events in detail, I would like to take this opportunity to explain the great strengths that each individual brings to our team.

This season, Lilia has grown in both confidence and ability. Keeping a clean sheet in the majority of matches, she has only conceded a couple of goals all season. Every aspect of her goalkeeping performances have improved.

Joy is the unsung hero of this team. She has played every single minute of every single match at the heart of our defence. A formidable defender who no striker likes to play against. She always remains calm, even under the greatest of pressure.

Another player who has made excellent progress and development this season. Kather uses her balance and strength to win the ball back in key positions. Having a stronger left-foot, she gives our team great balance in defence.

Starry is an extremely reliable player who can play anywhere in defence. She will never make mistakes and possesses a long throw that can quickly turn defence into attack. Starry is a player to call on in high-stakes situations when composure is essential.

Olivia is always first to ask to come onto the pitch if not starting, which shows her will and fearlessness to prove herself. A season highlight would be her integral role in keeping a second half clean sheet against AISG, our toughest opponents of the season.

Isabella leaves nothing out on the pitch, she gives everything for the team and will run until she can't run anymore. Her attacking movement has developed greatly, easily dragging defenders out of position.

Annie gives nothing but 100% at all times. Equally adept at attacking and defending, she will never fail to chase back and defend, move wide to support our defenders, or make attacking runs to support our strikers.

Shirley has also made great progress technically, she can dribble past opponents with ease and create goal scoring opportunities.

Linda is our most technical and creative player, she can unlock a defence with her passing range and plays through-balls between defenders. Her ability from corners is unmatched, creating chaos in the opposition ranks by producing consistently excellent deliveries.

Sarah can strike the ball with impeccable technique, whether it be a first time hit, volley or curled shot. As found out by one of our unfortunate opponents who took one of the hardest shots I've ever seen square in the face.

This group of girls have been a pleasure to coach and be around. Whether at training, on long bus journeys, getting soaked in the rain or boiled in the sun, at tactics meetings or tournaments, they have remained fun and dedicated. Hopefully, we get to do it all again together next year.
