Letter from the Head of School

I hope you all enjoy sharing the memories of what has been a very challenging but very fruitful year for our young school. It is amazing what a school in just its third year has been able to achieve and what great foundations have been laid for future success. 

学年结束，相信大家都很乐于沉浸在这一学年带给大家的充满机遇与挑战、收获且快乐的回忆中。要知道，作为一所“年轻”的学校，爱莎科学城在创校三年的时间内便取得如此之多的成就，并为未来的百年名校之梦奠定了良好的基础，确实值得称赞。

Congratulations to our very first Graduating Class who despite their small size have acquired university placements across a wide range of disciplines including Science, Business, Music and Art. Each of the graduates has been able to reach the first step on their life journey and pursue their passion through their time at ISA and can now follow this further into their tertiary study. In years to come we will continue to hear a wide range of success stories among our ISA students. 

首先，我们应该把掌声与祝福献给第一届毕业生，尽管他们人数不多，但却获得了来自世界各地大学的广泛录取，专业涉及科学、商业、音乐及艺术等。他们即将踏上人生新旅程的第一步，延续在爱莎求学时期的热情与动力，进入高等学府学习。我们期盼在不久的将来，将听到来自越来越多毕业生收获成就的励志故事。

The first two years of ISA Science City laid a strong foundation under the difficult circumstances of the worldwide pandemic. Even this year has seen a return to online learning for a few weeks but then once the impact of Covid reduced in early 2023, we could start to plan with confidence and the second half of the year saw a large increase in community events. 

爱莎科学城学校诞生于新冠疫情初始年，经历了疫情与创校的双重考验，仍在创校的第一和第二学年为后续学校的发展奠定了坚实基础。即使到了我们刚刚结束的第三学年，上学期仍然因为疫情不得不暂停线下教学，启动“网课”，但随着疫情政策的开放，学校在下学期紧锣密鼓、积极地筹备了一系列丰富的校园活动。

As we come to the end of ISA Science City’s third year, let’s look back at all the things we added or accomplished this year. 

现在，让我们一起来回顾一下这一学年发生的值得纪念的一系列事件吧：

• Our first full year as a fully authorised IB school offering all three IB programmes.

  今年是学校正式成为国际文凭世界学校，向学生提供PYP、MYP和DP全流程IB项目的第一年。

• A comprehensive Learning support program which helps support all students and their needs.

  成立了学生支持服务团队，提供全面的学习支持计划，满足每一个学生的个性化需求。

• A varied Enrichment program to provide challenge and motivation to our top-level students.

  提供更为丰富的强化课程，更好地为学术、体育、艺术等领域拔尖的学生提供培优支持。

• An Onsite Psychologist and team of Counsellors to provide professional services to students and their families.

  经验丰富的心理学家入驻校园，与升学支持团队一起为学生及家庭提供专业帮助。

• Biannual Standardised testing for all students to measure our progress in a more data-informed way.

  对所有学生进行一年两次的标准化测试，以一种更有数据依据的方式来衡量学生的进步。

• An increase in our college counselling range of services helping students aim for the college of their dreams.

  提供更多、更广泛的大学升学咨询渠道，帮助准毕业生更“精准”地选择心仪大学。

• A Student Council was formed for the first time giving an increased voice for students and more opportunities for student leadership.

  首次成立了学生会，为学生发声以及领导力培养提供了更多机会。

• A more wide-reaching and inclusive Parent Support Group across all divs of the school.

  家委会在校园各方面建设的作用日益增强，已成为推动家校发展功不可没的因素。

• A huge increase in Parent College events highlighting our programs and services including our first parent-student-teacher forum.

  向在校家长定期、频繁提供富有教育意义的家长课堂讲座，重分享学校的课程项目与各项服务，包括学校首次家长-学生-教师三方论坛。

• Great participation rates in our first PYP and MYP Parent Ambassador programs

  家长们踊跃参与的首次PYP和MYP家长大使项目。

• A huge increase in face-to-face parent-teacher interaction

  家长与教师面对面交流的频次大幅增加。

• Increased involvement and success in the local sports competitions across many sports including victories over many well-established schools.

  在广州诸多体育赛事频繁亮相且力争上游，战胜了许多老牌国际学校。

• A large increase in student involvement in both team and individual sport

  学生在团队和个人运动方面的参与度大幅提高。

• Increased promotion of our House program leading to more activities across the four pillars

  对四大学院制度进行了更多推广，基于学校四大支柱开展了更丰富的活动。

• Increased cooperation between the school and the ISA Academy providing a greater range of options for our students.

  学校与爱莎国际学苑之间的合作进一步深化，为我们的学生提供了更多样化的选择。

It has been an eventful year with many highlights and we pledge that in 2023/24 we will build on these and look to make further improvements in all areas. 

这一学年我们经历了很多变化与发展，有许多亮点值得我们为之骄傲。在即将到来的2023/24学年，我们将进一步夯实基础，在所有领域寻求更上一层楼，请大家拭目以待！
