本学期IGCSE2 艺术与设计的学生以“艺术运动”为主题，展开了对其中五个文化运动——达达主义，超现实主义，立体主义，抽象主义，以及波普艺术的学习。通过深入学习这五种运动的历史，风格，著名画家等，学生们根据个人意愿被分到了这五个中的的其一。以《自我肖像》为研究核心，文化运动为辅助，学生结合对自身的思考于探索，耗时两个月完成了表达自我的作品，作品集以及此次作品展。

Students of IGCSE2 art and design in this semester, taking "art movement" as the theme, carried out the study of five cultural movements –，Dadaism, Surrealism, Cubism , Abstractism, and Pop art (born around 1950). Through in-depth study of the history, style, and famous painters of the five movements, the students were divided into one of the five according to their own wishes. With "Self Portrait" as the research core and the art movements as the assistance, the students combined their own thinking and exploration, and spent two months to complete their own works, portfolio, and this exhibition.

Inspired by Salvador Dali, the work expresses the grotesque psychology and life attitude of a middle school students. 

At the beginning, it wanted to express a free soul in the form of installation painting, which was imprisoned by social pressure. That version focused on the self-disguise and not freedom in front of people. But later, when preparing materials and introducing the work to others, the artist suddenly felt that this draft lacked something that could represent myself. Compared with self-portrait, it is more like that she suddenly burst out in an extreme emotion without subsequent narcissism. So, after combined with her own grotesque imagination and daily habits, she finally got this picture of. It is more representative of herself, and the skeleton frame with two legs crossed at the end also expresses her leisurely, slovenly, calm, and lazy attitude, as it feels so good to be alive, but life sucks which just corresponds to her manifesto. 

This painting is created on September 22, 2022. The girl that was drawn in this artwork represents Pianpian herself. She put her favorite type of flower, roses on the side. The painter want to show her deep love to roses and thinks they match with the background.

The size of the canvas is about 1.20 meters x 80cm. The painter spent 2 weeks painting this self-portrait and got various inspirations from artists Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso. Their using of diverse geometric shapes gave Pianpian ideas on how to express her opinions and thoughts by using of paint brushes and a combination of colors. She then added big and small pearls, black silk bows, dark red roses and Quartz sand to add more details to this painting.

Pianpian doesn’t have a reason or a story that symbolizes this artwork, She drew this way totally because this is how she believes that represents herself as a human being.

This is a work created in the style of pop art. It is modeled after the work of an artist named Lobo. Through which Celester conveys a message about herself to the viewer. On the surface, this work is similar to Lobo's works in its colors, patterns are mainly bright colors, just like Lobo. The artist wants to show that, many things have been imitated and replaced,possible.including the author. In this work, the size of the ear is relatively large, and the pattern contained above is relatively complex. Showed that the artist is a good listener. Correspondingly, the character has no mouth, because the artist doesn’t want to express herself through speech. If you look closely at this work, you will find that there are dents on the face covered by the color, the dents show a bad mood. The artist wants to express the incongruence between inner emotions and outer emotions, revealing to the audience a kind of people living in a false shell in modern society. 

This art work called “CD” and it was drawn by Cindy Xie from IG2, Inspired by Man Ray’s  photography works “Teardrop” and artistic style. Man Ray is good at photography, so this art work was also shown by using photography, editing and altering to express Surrealism . This art work presents the attitude of a positive and optimistic towards people and things to audience. The hands on her neck in this photo show that, she was forced and stressed  because all of the pressure came from her life. What’s more, the artist used pearl to replaced the teardrops, and put it near the canthus, for imitated Man Ray’s “Teardrop”. Use pearl to attract the attention of audience .
