Our EY4 kids in ISA Science City began the school year with the engaging transdisciplinary theme titled “Who We Are.” This unit of inquiry invites students to explore the intricate dynamics of human relationships by examining the central idea of how “People’s actions affect their relationships with others.” Through a variety of activities and discussions, students explored the impact of their choices, emotions, and behaviours, fostering a deeper understanding of empathy and social interactions.

爱莎科学城EY4年级孩子们以引人入胜的跨学科主题“我们是谁”开启了新学年的学习。这一探究单元引导学生通过探究“人们的行为如何影响他们与他人的关系”这一核心理念,来探索人际关系的复杂动态。通过各种活动和讨论,学生们探讨了他们的选择、情绪和行为所产生的影响,从而加深了对同理心和社会交往的理解。

How Emotions Affect Us and Others

情绪如何影响自己与他人




Students explored how emotions like happiness, sadness, anger, and excitement influence their behavior and affect those around them. Through discussions, role-playing, and picture books, students identified triggers for different feelings and learned to support peers experiencing various emotions. To further build emotional awareness, they created a "feelings chart" and practiced self-regulation strategies, such as deep breathing, talking to someone, or engaging in calming activities.

孩子们通过讨论、角色扮演和绘本,探索了快乐、悲伤、愤怒和兴奋等情绪如何影响他们的行为以及对他人的影响。学生们识别了触发情绪的因素,并学习如何支持情绪不同的同伴。他们还创建了“情绪图表”,并练习了深呼吸、与他人交流等自我调节的方法,帮助提升情绪觉察能力。

Throughout the unit, students participated in team-building exercises that emphasised cooperation, communication, and kindness. Activities included puzzle-building, partner games, and providing constructive feedback. These exercises underscored the importance of teamwork, teaching students to offer specific suggestions, ask guiding questions, and be considerate in their interactions. Students also shared experiences of forming new friendships and learned strategies for initiating conversations and including others.

Our Choices and Actions Influence 

Relationships Around Us

Students examined how their actions affect relationships through storytelling, discussions, and a "Choices Matter" workshop. They reflected on how positive behaviors, such as kindness and apology, strengthen friendships and create a supportive community. As part of this reflection, they participated in a "Grateful Walk" around the school, expressing appreciation for various community members who contribute to their daily lives.

学生们通过故事、讨论和“选择的重要性”工作坊,探讨了他们的行为如何影响人际关系。他们反思了诸如友善和道歉等积极行为是如何加强友谊并营造一个支持性的社区的。作为反思的一部分,他们参与了校园内的“感恩之旅”,向为他们的日常生活做出贡献的各社区成员表达感激之情。


End-Of-Unit Burger Making Celebration

The unit concluded with a hands-on celebration that connected classroom learning with real-world skills. Students visited the school kitchen to observe food preparation and safety practices. Parents joined in the culminating event, where students demonstrated teamwork by preparing and assembling burgers with guidance. This communal meal allowed students to showcase their cooking skills, deepen relationships, and celebrate the power of collaboration.

本单元以一场将课堂学习与实际技能相结合的动手庆祝活动结束。学生们参观了学校厨房,学习食品的准备及食品安全。家长们也一同参与,孩子们在老师指导下展示了如何进行团队合作,并一起参与制作了汉堡。这次集体用餐活动不仅让学生们展示了小小烹饪技能,还加深了彼此的友谊,彰显了合作的力量。

Through "Who We Are," students gained a deeper understanding of their identity, emotions, and the importance of relationships. The unit fostered a sense of community and empathy, laying the groundwork for future inquiries.

通过“我们是谁”这一主题,学生们对自己的身份、情绪以及人际关系的重要性有了更深的理解。本单元培养了学生的社区意识和同理心,为未来探究奠定了基础。
