VPA’s first Open Day in 2023 was completed today. More than 100 groups of parents and children joined us to learn about how we integrate IB with national curriculum with Dr. Koong.
We integrate IBPYP with the national curriculum in a variety of aspects, including philosophy, objectives, curriculum framework, learning scenarios, skills, content, interdisciplinary teaching and teaching methods, to cultivate future elites with both international and patriotic views.
We use the 6 transdisciplinary themes and the 6 subjects from IB with the national framework and materials to create our own curriculum that fits two pathways.
IB's teaching methods are also the most important in our teaching, we care more about learning skills and abilities than knowledge. We want our children to have agency, to have voice, choice, and ownership.
In her speech, Dr. Koong explained detailed information about how we cultivate the ability of independent inquiry in our children and take learning beyond books to all aspects of life.
We also pay attention to children's emotional and psychological growth, and guide them to solve problems and express emotions.
Besides the speeches, we also prepared a great tour that went around the whole campus and delicious desserts.
