Astronomy:
A Rising Star in Research
Harry is deeply passionate about astronomy and fascinated by the vast universe. At SIS, he has been inspired to enrich his scientific knowledge and apply theories to solve practical problems.
During his summer break last year, Harry secured a prestigious internship at the University of Hong Kong, where he worked alongside esteemed astronomy experts. This collaboration led to the co-publication of a research paper in Astronomy and Astrophysics, establishing Harry as a rising star in the scientific field.
Music Hall:
A Passionate Creator
Harry's artistic talents are equally impressive. Raised in a family of musicians, Harry has a deep-rooted passion for music. He founded the Shenzhen International Youth Orchestra (SIYO) at SIS during the pandemic. SIYO provides a platform for young musicians to learn, exchange ideas and perform classical music at a high level. Under Harry's guidance and leadership, SIYO has grown to over 30 members, becoming a significant presence in Shenzhen's international school music scene.
Charity and Leadership:
Making a Difference
Understanding his role as a global citizen, Harry directed SIYO to a noble mission: to use music to support children in need. All SIYO concert proceeds are donated to the Huong La Orphanage in Vietnam, providing tangible support and hope for many young people. His charitable efforts have earned widespread praise and a $2000 grant from ACAMIS for SIS's Service-Learning Project.
Harry's leadership extends beyond music and charity. He actively organises clubs and events at SIS, including Model United Nations, Science Club and Maths Club, enriching the school culture and a vibrant array of opportunities for his peers.
Harry attributes his success to the broad platform of diverse opportunities SIS provides, allowing him to explore and grow his passions. His journey is an inspiring testament to the impact one student can make, both within the school and beyond. Harry will be entering his final year at SIS, and we wish him much success.
Best wishes,
