很多2020年秋季学入学的申请者担心由于新冠肺炎在全球的持续性影响而无法在秋季学期按时入学。因此他们想要知道能否在保留今年入学资格的前提下延迟一个学年入学，以及是否已经有学校发布了相关政策。对此，又应该要准备些什么？

我们通过邮件咨询了U.S. NEWS排名前五十的综合大学以及U.S.NEWS 排名前三十的文理学院，在此整理了一些有价值的信息供有需要的申请者参考：

U.S.NEWS 综合大学

1、普林斯顿大学

Princeton University：The University has always allowed any admitted student who wishes to defer enrollment to do so, including international students. Students who wish to take time off from their studies may request to defer their enrollment for one year (and sometimes for an additional year). If a student pursues this gap year, he or she may not enroll full time in a degree program at another institution during the deferral period or take courses for academic credit. In recent years the activities of students taking a year off have included work, community service, travel, military service, arts training and religious studies. We recommend students request a deferral only after they are admitted and before May 10.

Stanford University ：Any student admitted to Stanford may request a deferral for a year by selecting the “Defer” option  after accepting our offer of admission. Normally, the request will be granted when the student  indicates careful thought about how to spend the year productively and the request is made prior to June 15 of the year for which the student has been admitted. It is required that the student does not enroll in any full time program in another institution.

University of Chicago ：We do not anticipate any issues with registering for classes in the fall but if it comes to that we will inform all students what our plan is and be very accommodating to all situations. Taking a gap year or a quarter off is always an option that you can take advantage of  if you would like.

University of Pennsylvania：Admitted students who accept their spot at Penn can request a gap year through their Penn Applicant Portal once they have matriculated. All gap year requests are reviewed by the Dean of Admissions.

5、埃默里大学

Emory University  ：Some students opt for a gap year between high school and college. Students use this time to volunteer, travel, or work. We advise students considering the gap year option to apply to Emory University during their senior year of high

school. If accepted, the student would need to submit his/her enrollment deposit by the deadline. Students have until 6/1 to request a deferral of his/her admission for a gap year.

1.They must first submit their enrollment deposit via their portal.

2. They then must submit their first year agreement via their portal.

3. They must fill out the form in their portal under GAP YEAR REQUEST (there is one form for each college).

4.The deadline for such requests is June 1, 2020.

Please note that students may not enroll full-time at another college or university during their deferral period. We will accept only two courses taken for college credit during the gap year.

Admission deferrals for gap years are granted for one year only. Students whose gap years are approved would enter Emory University as a first-year student the subsequent fall semester.

New York University： We allow students to defer for one year , but not one semester; thus, you can defer for Fall 2021. First year applicants who have been offered admission to NYU may request to defer their enrollment by following the specific steps outlined on our website, which also lists all requirements and information surrounding the deferred enrollment program.Students may defer for almost any reason, but they may not attend other institutions or apply to attend other colleges/universities during their time away from NYU.

Rochester：The global pandemic has affected many of us very closely. Of course, we understand that, as a result, you may have to take a gap semester or year. If you are interested in securing your spot at the University, we would require completion of the enrollment form and submission of the deposit—this will allow us to maintain your offer of admission and move it to the Spring or Fall of 2021.

Deferred enrollment requests are not valid for beyond one year from the time the student was initially admitted.Students must submit a completed Deferred Enrollment Request form by May 1.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaigh：If you would like to delay your admission, submit the Request for Delay of Admission form by logging into your myIllini account. This form should be submitted as soon as you know that a delay of admission will be needed. The request form should be submitted no later than 1 month prior to the beginning of the term in which you have been admitted. Exceptions to this timeline are only made in emergency situations.

Pomona College ：We'll continue to accept gap year requests as we always have. Students indicate in their enrollment response form that they would like to take a gap year, and submit a plan to our dean by May 8. We then allow them to enroll in the Fall 2021 entry term.

Carleton College ：If you were admitted to the Class of 2024, you would be able to request to take a gap year and enter Fall of 2021.

Hamilton College ：Admitted students who would like to defer their start to Hamilton for a semester or year may write a proposal to the Dean of Admission for review.

Wesleyan University：Upon approval, Wesleyan will grant deferred admission for one year. In order to obtain approval, applicants must submit a plan for their “gap year.” Deferred enrollment requests must be submitted in writing (letter or email) and approved prior to June 1. Students granted a deferral cannot submit further admission applications to other institutions or enroll full-time in any other institution of higher education. Once the student’s request for deferment is received and approved, a formal letter acknowledging their deferred status will be sent. An essay, briefly describing deferral activities and reaffirming intention to enroll at Wesleyan is required by February 1 of the deferral year.

Kenyon College：students are welcome to defer their admission to Kenyon for one year. In order to be considered for the gap year request, you must pay the enrollment deposit fee and submit a written request to defer your enrollment to the Dean of Admissions through the provided link. Please keep in mind that during a gap year, you may not enroll in a full-time degree program at another college. However, you may take college classes on a part-time basis, but the Admission Office will review your grades and performance during the gap year.
