On Wednesday we had our first Curriculum Night of the school year. It is an opportunity for parents to meet with classroom teachers and specialists to learn about IB curriculum, classroom expectations, Units of Inquiry, ManageBac, and grade-level curriculum.
什么是IB 教学？在日常课堂中会学到那些？IB体系中的学习单元是什么? 孩子在学校中的个人成长与关怀会如何发展？这些问题在本周三的家长信息分享会中得到了答案。本次家长信息分享会也是家长与班主任专业老师见面的机会，以此来了解 IB 教学、课堂期望、 探究单元、ManageBac平台、各年级课程的一些信息。
Curriculum Night is an important part of home-school communications. Dr. Sam Mills and Principal Ms. Addie started off the Early Years session and PYP session with a brief introduction of the overview and purpose of the night in the Early Years MPR and PYP lecture hall respectively. Then it was followed by Mr. Bond, Student Support Specialist, who talked in detail about the school’s care for students’ growth and development, formation of Student Council and supportive activities for students. He also pointed out that we should increase the frequency and depth of home-school communication in this school year.
家长信息分享会是本学期家校沟通的重要一环，其中幼儿部与小学部的分享会从下午五点拉开序幕，山姆博士与艾迪校长分别在幼儿部和小学部报告厅对本次分享会的具体环节安排与分享会的主要目的做了简短的介绍，学生事务专员邦德先生在分享会上详细介绍了学校对学生成长的关怀、学生会组建以及学生支持性活动的设置，邦德先生在最后表示将在本学年未来的时间中进一步加强家校沟通的频次和深度。
Then parents met with Specialist Teachers in different classrooms to learn about their current Unit of Inquiry and how these specialist courses support the core subjects. At Sias IS, specialist courses include EAL, Design/Technology, Chinese, Performing Arts, PE and Visual Arts.
在分享会之后的环节，家长分别到不同教室与专业老师见面，了解学生目前所学习的探究单元课程及所学的这些科目支持的核心科目。在西亚斯外籍人员子女学校，专业科目包括EAL（英文加强课程）、设计/技术课、中文课、音乐课、体育课以及视觉艺术课。
After meeting with Specialist Teachers, parents were guided to their children’s Homeroom class to meet with the Homeroom teacher and teaching assistant. Homeroom teachers explained how IB curriculum is implemented into everyday teaching and learning, shared the classroom expectations of this year and how students have been working together to build their community, as well as trained parents on how to use ManageBac to keep up with student's daily learning.
随后家长们在各年级班主任老师与班级助教的带领下进入孩子所在的班级，在班主任老师的讲解下具体了解IB教学如何在教学中进行实施，分享了本年级的课堂期望以及和孩子们共建集体的点点滴滴，并为家长培训了如何使用ManageBac来了解学生学习日常。
Mr. Arif, MYP Coordinator, gave a detailed presentation on the IB curriculum, MYP framework, Transdisciplinary learning, and the assessment of various subjects. Followed by Specialist Teachers talking about their current Unit of Inquiry, how to participate in the process of creating lines of inquiry in their daily teaching, how to construct knowledge system with students, and how to evaluate relevant content in each stage of their inquiry.
在初中部的分享会上，初中部教学主管阿里夫先生对IB课程的相关信息进行了详细的讲述，讲解了中学项目（MYP）的学习框架，并介绍了不同学科群体如何在学习中融合，对各种学科的评价维度进行讲解。随后各个专业课教师向家长们讲述了学生目前所学的探究单元，分享了在日常教学中如何参与创建探究路径的过程、如何与学生共同构建知识体系、如何评估探究过程中的各个阶段的相关内容。
