A warm welcome back to our founding families and welcome to our new families joining us for the very first time.

Lots have happened over the summer in the ECLC precinct, with a new principal’s office and a junior library built. We will soon have a coffee shop in the atrium for our parents to socialize and enjoy.

暑假期间，学校对幼儿园区域进行了“升级改造”，包括新增了校长办公室和幼儿园专属图书馆。同时，学校的咖啡店也即将于中庭广场开放，作为一个绝佳社交和放松的场所供家长和老师进行交流。

Early Years is a special place.  For our EY1 students it will be their very first step to education. There will surely be some crying the first couple of weeks until the little ones settle in.  For any new families, it is important that you talk to your child about going to ISASC.  On the weekend, take a drive to the school to remind your child what the school looks like. Most important, adjust your child’s sleeping schedule for early to bed since you will need to be up early for a good breakfast before heading to school.  During the summer holiday, parents tend to be too relaxed with the sleep schedule and find it difficult to get their children out of bed in the morning at the start of the school year. 

幼儿园时期是一个特别的阶段。对于我们小小班的学生而言，这将是他正式进入学习生涯的第一步。在最初的几周里，孩子们的哭闹是再正常不过的，直至他们渐渐适应校园。对于新入学的学生家庭，请家长务必提前告知孩子与新学校有关的信息，让孩子在心理上做好准备。家长也可以在开学前的周末开车带着孩子来到校园门口并向孩子介绍学校，让他们认识并熟悉学校的样子。当然，最重要的莫过于调整孩子的作息时间，适应早睡的生活规律，因为开学后孩子需要早起洗漱、吃早餐后再回学校，而暑假期间，家长往往对孩子的睡眠作息比较放松，这也会导致部分家长在学期开始时会发现在让孩子早起方面有困难。

On August 25th, we have had our Family Orientation Day. On this day parents met the homeroom teacher.  The teachers had class presentations, discussing classroom expectations, highlights from the curriculum, ways of communications and what to bring on the first day of school. It is a day that parents don’t want to miss.  Hope to see you all in the new semester!

学校于8月25日举行了幼儿园家庭迎新日。这天，新加入爱莎科学城学校的家庭与主班老师会面，了解班级介绍、课堂期望、课程要点、家校沟通以及开学首日需要携带的物资等信息，这对于帮助新生顺利过渡至校园生活具有重要意义。作为校方团队，我们衷心期盼新学期与每一个新家庭书写新的故事。

Early Years Principal

幼儿园校长

Connie joins the founding team at ISA Science City in the position of Early Years Principal. She has been working in the field of early childhood educa- tion for over 30 years. Aside from working in her home county Canada, Connie has worked in international schools in southeast Asia, namely Hong Kong and Singapore. Her last school in Guangzhou is an IB three-pro- gramme World School. She was there for over 14 years as the Early Years Coordinator and was instrumental to the IB accreditation process.

有着30年教育经验的Connie加入爱莎科学城创始团队，担任幼儿 园校长一职。除了在加拿大多伦多工作过，Connie还拥有在东南 亚的国际学校工作的经历。加入爱莎科学城之前，她在广州一所 获得国际文凭课程三个项目(IB PYP, IB MYP, IB DP)官方认证的IB 学校担任了14年的幼儿园领导职务，并在该校的IB资格认证阶段 作出非凡的贡献。

Connie graduated with an honours degree in Bachelor of Applied Science in Child Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. As a certified early childhood educator, she is currently in the College of Early Childhood Educator public registry in Canada. Connie attends IB workshops to upgrade her knowl- edge in the Primary Years Programme. She embraces the concepts of holistic development and child-focused early childhood philosophies; particularly a true advocate in the world-renown Reggio Emelia approach. She is excited to start her new journey as the founding Early Years Principal at ISA Science City and looks forward to parent visits to our Early Childhood Learning Centre (ECLC).

Connie毕业于加拿大安大略省圭尔夫大学，并获得儿童研究应用 科学学士学位，主要研究方向是早期儿童教育。作为一名有资质 的早期教育者，她拥有加拿大早期教育学院公共注册中心认证。为更好地对国际文凭幼小项目(IB PYP)进行深刻研究，Connie还 一直坚持参加IB学习与培训，以提升她对小学阶段教学的理解， 并深入研究和支持全人教育、以儿童为中心的早期儿童哲学理念, 以及提倡世界著名的瑞吉欧教育法。Connie将自己的一生都奉献 给了幼儿教育领域，她很高兴能成为爱莎科学城首任幼儿园校长 开展全新的旅程。
