Gamma这个单元的主题是 "我们是谁",我们是如何成长和变化的,这几乎是我们进入小学之前在PIEP的最后一个单元,我们回顾和展望我们的成长,探讨我们的身体和心灵是如何变化的。

在“我们是谁”的单元开题前,我们请小朋友去图书馆,从家中找出与“成长”和“变化”相关的书籍,并请他们说一说书上的哪些内容是和探究内容相关的。在本单元的导入阶段,我们邀请家长和小朋友合作,准备了从刚出生到6岁的照片,制作了每位孩子专属的“我的成长日记”。



小朋友们分享了自己的成长日记,观察从0岁到6岁阶段自身的成长和变化。老师和小朋友一起制作了网络图,把他们的讨论和发现记录下来。


“我小的时候没有牙齿,现在有两排整齐的牙齿了。”


“我小时候圆滚滚的,很可爱,现在我的手和脚都变瘦长了,我变帅了。”


“我的头发变长了,身高和体重都增长了。”


“我的能力变化了,以前我很多事情都不会做。现在我会做很多事情了,我会自己穿衣服了,会认很多的字了。”


“我的愿望变了,让我快乐的事物也变了。”


为了进一步验证小朋友的变化和成长,在“整理”阶段,小朋友们从家中带来了许多变化的“证据”。从尿片到裤子,从包屁衣到T恤衫,从奶瓶到饮水杯,从奶嘴到筷子,这些“物证”都证明了他们在变化,在成长。

For English UOI activities, First students explored the infancy stage of life that includes time spent in the mother’s womb. Students pretend to be a pregnant mom , trying to complete everyday activities.



Then students learned the meanings of independent and dependent , and then determined which actions made them independent compared to the infant. Babies need help walking , whereas a child can walk by themselves, babies need to be changed whereas a child can get dressed by themselves. 







在孩子们听完小伙伴分享分享了自己的成长日记之后,Gamma2班的Adela问了一个可爱的问题“为什么爸爸妈妈会生宝宝?”Momo:“那为什么我小时候像个男生,光秃秃的呢?”小朋友们在活动之后学会了思考和延伸我们的探究的主题。



在进入到探究的第二阶段时,小朋友们进入了小学观摩大哥哥大姐姐的上课,还一起去观摩小学的课室、图书馆、餐厅等,小朋友们发现了很多不同:“大哥哥大姐姐上课很有秩序”、“原来小学的卫生间比幼儿园的大这么多”“哇,小学生的餐盘更大一些”“I-EP的哥哥姐姐这么高”,还发现“图书馆和我们的一样安静呢”




从这学期开始,孩子们正式进入了幼小衔接的阶段,因此我们会把探究重点放在幼小衔接,深入探究与小学息息相关的活动。比如我们会一起认识红领巾,了解红领巾的意义,教孩子们正确戴红领巾。



在活动的设置上,孩子们需要了解幼儿园与小学的大不同,从而调整自己的行动方式。对于孩子们来说,了解每日的课程表也是有意义的,学会通过看课程表合理地安排自己的时间及活动,相对地,孩子们也需要根据课程表去整理每日书包装的东西,学会收拾整理书包,提高独立能力。

For Unit 3 Who We Are, the first of the learning objectives was to understand and be able to express how people change from the past to the present in their physical and mental characteristics. This was achieved by describing the changes they saw in growth charts they had made in Chinese class, and presenting the information to the class. This was affective in getting children to understand changes, but even more effective at raising the children’s confidence when speaking in front of others. 



The second objective was to identify the facilities that kindergarten and primary school children use for different activities. This was achieved by a mixture of “scavenger hunting” and interviewing of primary school children. This was affective in opening the children’s curiosity about research and learning from other children to understand the differences in primary school and kindergarten life. 



Third of all, the children were to discover the meaning of responsibility by contrasting activities that they want to do with activities that they need to do. This was achieved by playing games in which we classified activities as wants it needs, and spoke out the sentences clearly. This was effective in solidifying the children’s understanding of responsibility, as well as expanding their ability to make a variety of sentences, even leading to them independently formulating new sentences. 



经过两个多月的关于成长和责任的探究,孩子们围绕探究线索,加上一系列的幼小衔接活动,充分提升孩子的仪式感、责任感和积极性。



在本单元中,孩子们不仅对人类成长变化有了总结性的认知,更让他们在认知、社交、情感、兴趣爱好和生活技能等方面都有了很大的提升和进步。他们已经准备好迎接小学生活的挑战和机遇,并为未来的成长树立了宏远目标。

During this unit we inquired about how we grow up and the different stages a human experience in their life, we followed the lines of inquiry and related every stage to concepts as independence and responsibility.



English content: 


By the end of the unit students should be familiar with:

- Sharing their growth stories using simple past tenses

- Compare with others: Taller, shorter, heavier and lighter… than.

- Name the stages of life and identify them in their family: My family has… infant, child, adult, elder

- Share different ways we can help an infant as he is dependent.

- Share their hobbies and compare them with their grandparents

- Know the concepts of dependent and independent and share - I can do … by myself – I need an adult to … -

- My responsibilities are… sharing the daily duties they are responsible of.

- Learn differences and concepts related to primary school

- Unit vocabulary.

  

Responsibility and independence:


We dedicated the last part of the unit to dig deeper into these concepts completing worksheet about the things we can do by ourselves and tasks were we need help or supervision from adults. Also inquired about what are our duties and how can we become more responsible.
