As a foreign teacher in the middle school department, Derek pays more attention to sharing common feelings with his students in class. Derek said a good teacher should be patient, active, friendly, and a passion to teach and be able to move around the class and express with their bodies on what they are talking about.  Sometimes teaching can be like acting on stage. When you give out energy and you get energy back from the students you give more back out to them and turns out to be a good lesson. However, I have experienced I get negative energy from the students so I go back to basics to the book and slow it down. I then wait a spark to happen and the students get active and the energy has risen again and then off I go. In teaching the teacher never stops thinking and watching and observing on ideas what can be used for the next class. Today I constantly look, listen and think and see if it can be useful in class. Lately, I find students are aware of western festive seasons but don’t know too much in depth. So voila!! A lesson can be on a festive season this helps students to know more and vocabulary words. Every traditional festival I give student different stories that aren’t well known. In experience I discovered I had natural teaching talent for example I have my lesson plan and if something happens I see, a look, a word, and a sentence something clicks into my head and do this and I go off my original lesson plan. Natural teaching is something you cannot teach another teacher. Either you’ve got it or not. Learning never stops.


作为中学部的外教,Derek更注重在课堂上与同学分享共同的感受。Derek认为,一个好老师应该耐心、积极、友好,并且对教学充满热情,能够在课堂上生动地用肢体语言表达谈论的内容,他认为教学就像在舞台上表演,老师学生之间互动得很好,这就是一堂出色的课。曾经遇到非常不积极的学生,Derek会回归到书本的基础知识并放慢教学速度,等到有机会就唤起学生的积极性,课堂就会顺利进行,他觉得在教学中,老师需要不断思考、观察,为下一次课进行调整做准备,例如发现学生们对有些节假日的文化了解不多,就可以开展关于节日的课题,这有助于学生有更深入的了解。每年传统节日,Derek都给学生讲新颖的故事,这更能吸引学生的关注。Derek的课程设置源于生活,从一个眼神,一个单词和一个句子就可以当机调整他教学的方向,这也体现出Derek灵活的教学能力。



In the past students have managed to win competitions and prizes in speeches, mimicking, role play on stage due to constant practice and rehearsals and sometimes I will be in the show. In experience students seem to feel comfortable when a teacher becomes involved in the role play on stage rather than be on the side or in front of the stage observing them. Because the students think they are a part of something with the teacher not doing something for the teacher.

在以往学生节目的彩排或者比赛中,Derek也积极参与其中,成为学生的一份子,融入学生,而不是单纯地指点,这能使学生更为积极,收获更多。

Hi,Marco!


Marco has strong interest in mathematics, he dreamed of being a mathematics teacher from junior high school, and later graduated from the mathematics department of Guangzhou Normal University and became a mathematics teacher. Marco has nearly ten years of mathematics, Mathematical Olympiad teaching experience in mainland, and about 5 year teaching experience to teach Olympic math class in many high school in HK.

由于对数学有浓厚兴趣,Marco从初中就种下了一个数学教师梦,后来在广州师范大学数学系毕业顺利成为一名数学教师。在国内有近十年的数学、奥数教学经验,去各个学校教授奥利匹克数学竞赛班级。



Marco believes that interest is the best teacher.  When students come across new problems, they don`t know what to do in the beginning, or fear to overcome it, but they will have full sense of achievement after solving the problems; After that they feel happy into new learning. It`s important for students to act on their own willingness to study and encouragement from teachers is important too. 


Marco认为,兴趣是最好的老师,学生在遇到新问题时,由原来惘然无措,甚至有惧怕心理,到克服困难后满满成功感,然后意气盎然再投入新的学习征途,不断进步,除内在需求驱动,老师不断鼓励很重要,专业知识的呈献,展示知识领域真善美,不断熏陶下,学生才能健康成长。 


Education is the inheritance of culture, you will be full of happiness when your students exist all over the world. “I appreciate improving my ability together with my students, I will continue to work hard to be a transmitter of knowledge.”Marco said.

教育,是文化的传承,那种桃李满园的幸福感,只有你是他们老师才知道,多年的教育工作,收获是师生共同进步,我会继续努力,活到老学到老为教育事业奉献余生。

Carol is a teacher from Hong Kong. She attended one of the best Band 1 EMI (English as the medium of teaching) secondary schools in Yuen Long District when she was in Hong Kong. In the year that she passed her DSE exams, she received offers from both Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Beijing Normal University (BNU). In the end, she decided to pursue her bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature at BNU. While studying at BNU, Carol scored 7.5 in IELTS and passed all the tests for English majors in China, including the TEM4 and TEM8. Meanwhile, she won the scholarships for Hong Kong, Macau, and Overseas Chinese Students three times and was chosen as the recipient of the Scholarships for Hong Kong Students in Beijing in the last year of her study at BNU. After leaving BNU, Carol went to the Institute of Education at University College London (UCL) and continued her postgraduate study there.


来自香港的 Carol 老师,中学毕业于香港元朗区 Band 1 头英文中学。她通过 DSE 文凭试获得香港浸会大学及北京师范大学的学士学位课程录取。最后,她选择到 QS 内地高校排行第 8 的北京师范大学学习,主修英语语言及文学。本科期间,她一次性通过专四、专八及雅思 7.5 分 。在校期间,她连续三年获得港澳及华侨学生奖学金并在毕业年夺得第一届京港奖学金。本科毕业后,她选择到英国继续升学并以优异成绩毕业于伦敦大学学院教育学院。

Carol’s strong educational background, coupled with her rich teaching experience, would enable her to help her students excel at DSE. She is a certified CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) teacher with around 3 years of experience in teaching DSE English. She has previously taught in Shimen International Curriculum Center and has been the writing teacher for Form 6 students there since 2018. She has also been teaching English to Form 4 and Form 5 students there during the past two years. Her students got outstanding performance in DSE this year. All of them passed their DSE writing exams with Level 3 or above, and on top of that, a number of them scored Level 4 or above in the exam.


除了高学历,Carol 还拥有丰富的英语教学经验。她拥有剑桥大学颁发的英语语言教师证书和近 3 年在内地教授 DSE 英语全科的经验。在石门中学国际课程中心期间,她负责教授高一及高二 DSE 英语全科,并连续两年担任高三 DSE 英语写作的老师。在本年度的 DSE 考试中,她所有的学生均在写作卷中取得 3 级以上,及格率达到 100%。历届学生中也有不少考获 Level 4 及以上成绩的。

Carol is particularly interested in teaching Writing. She scored 5** in her DSE English Writing exam and has been working on her self-made handouts for DSE writing since she was in secondary school. To bridge the gap between learning and the exam, these handouts will be distributed to her students during lessons. These additional notes can help students improve their exam-taking skills, and indeed some of the content in her handouts resemble the exam questions (Q1. a speech introducing the annual school fair, Q4. an application letter for the position of Assistant Coach)in the writing exam this year. 


Carol 对写作教学尤其感兴趣,中学起她便开始自制公开试写作笔记,在 DSE 中她更夺得 5** 的佳绩。多年的备试经验和教学经历也让她熟悉考试套路。在平日的课堂里,除了教授教科书上的内容,她也会给学生派发自制的应试讲义,以此提高学生的应试能力。她每一年都会细心研读考题,关注出题趋势,并更新自己的讲义。今年,她的写作讲义就与部分写作考题高度相似(题1 宣传学校嘉年华的演讲词和题 4 Learning English through Sports Communication 体育教练申请信等 )。在今年高三 Learning English through Pop Culture 的单元中,Carol 重点教过活动介绍的玩法。在单元结束之时,她更要求学生以小组合作形式就学校团体招生宣传进行海报设计及演示汇报。 


The transition from a DSE student to a DSE teacher has helped Carol develop a more in-depth understanding of the assessment framework and the students’ needs. Her goal as a DSE English teacher is to help her students excel at DSE. She also wishes her student could learn English with joy and could apply what they have learned to their future study and career.

作为前 DSE 考生和现职 DSE 老师,Carol 深明文凭试要求和考生所需。她希望自己能以“师姐”的身份帮助学生在 DSE 中取得好成绩。同时,她希望学生能在愉快的气氛中学习,并能将所学的知识和技能应用到日后的学习和工作中。

Hi,Thomas!


Thomas has been teaching in Hong Kong for more than 20 years, who is familiar with the Hong Kong Diploma for Secondary Education. His motto is "Never give up", which runs through his whole teaching.


在香港任教二十多年,熟悉香港文凭考试模式的刘老师,他的座右铭是“Never give up ”,这也贯穿在整体教学当中。

As an excellent math and physics teacher, he tends to cultivate student`s keen thinking. In 2021 HKDSE 7 students got level 5 stars, 2 students got full marks. In daily life Thomas teaches students to have critical and divergent thinking, do not afraid of questioning the question or limiting to knowledge on textbooks, try to solve a problem in multiple ways. This can help cultivate students' ability to think independently and prepare for further study in college.

作为一名优秀的数理科教师,Thomas致力于培养出思维敏锐的学生,在这届HKDSE考试中有7名学生考取5星,2名学生考取5星星(满分),Thomas在日常教学中主要培养学生要有批判性思维、发散性思维。他教导学生要敢于对问题提出质问,不局限于书本上的知识,在日常中训练中进行一题多解,这也培养了学生独立思考的能力,为以后的深度研学做铺垫。
