A requirement for becoming an IB World School is that all schools must ensure that their teachers and administrators participate in IB-certified professional development.

During the workshop, teachers will engage in a collaborative environment in which they can explore the framework of the PYP, gain insights into the transdisciplinary nature of the PYP programme, unpack concept-driven curriculum, and learn how to implement inquiry as a means of teaching.

在研讨会上,教师们将在一个合作的环境中探索PYP(国际文凭小学项目)的框架,深入了解PYP课程的超学科性质,解读概念驱动的课程,并学习如何将探究作为一种教学手段。



Here are some highlights of our sessions:

  • Through the IB Learner Profiles we model ourselves as learners and describe what we are and what we represent to the ISASC community.

  • As a group of learners, we establish Essential Agreements.

  • We explore what it means to be Internationally Minded in our Science City community.

  • The PYP explores transdisciplinary topics from both a local and global perspective. As teachers, we can examine the detailed documentation of the IB to understand the purpose and the way that the six transdisciplinary themes work in our setting.

  • PYP Essential Elements are examined with much curiosity and as inquirers to learn more from each other.

  • Many a-ha moments are expected as the PYP framework is unpacked, and the ‘Programme of Inquiry’ is mapped.

  • It’s all about learners constructing meaning through discussions, brainstorming, and collaboration. I am so lucky to be able to work with a group of educators who are so passionate about their work.

Teachers sharing their thoughts and ideas is incredibly powerful. By engaging in active learning, we develop both critically and creatively, which provides students with a richer learning experience.

Ms Annie Chew is from a beautiful town called Kuching in Sarawak, EastMalaysia. She has a Masters Degree in Education Curriculum andInstructional Design. She had the privilege of serving as the PYPCoordinator for two IB world schools over the past 15 years. There, sheserved in multiple leadership roles and worked with team members toachieve great success during the schools' IB PYP accreditation process. Herexperiences in the IB PYP have allowed her to work with students, teachers,and parents, particularly in equipping and empowering resilient learnerswith meaningful and authentic learning experiences, preparing them tosucceed in facing the unknown world.

Ms Annie values people and relationships. As the PYP Coordinator, sheworks collaboratively with teachers and the pedagogical leadership team todeveloping a coherent and concept-driven curriculum. Ms Annie is a certifiedIB PYP workshop leader, school site visitor member and team leader, andschool consultant of International Baccalaureate Educators (IBEN).
