On 23rd March, ISA Tianhe primary celebrated the World Maths Day to encourage students to take a break from the day-to-day maths lesson. World Maths Day is one of the world’s largest global educational events. Since its founding in 2007 by 3P Learning, the popularity of World Maths Day has multiplied fast. It aims to connect the global learning community and foster friendships between children of different cultures as they learn to excel in mathematics together.

3月23日,爱莎天河学校全体小学学生共同庆祝了 “世界数学日” ,尽享数学学习的乐趣。“世界数学日”是全球最大的教育赛事之一。自2007年由3P Learning创立以来,“世界数学日” 备受欢迎。它旨在打造一个全球性学习社区,为来自不同国家和文化的孩子提供一个相互交流和切磋数学的机会。




During the day, a variety of activities were offered to students. Some students are encouraged to compete against each other in a range of 60-second online games held by the 3P Learning. Others did a lot of small competitions within their classes and fun games designed by themselves or by the teachers. These activities are designed to help students develop their mental maths abilities of students, factorising algebraic expressions, and other relatively complex skills.

“世界数学日”当天,学生们参与了多种多样的活动。学生们可以参加由3P Learning举办的一系列线上60秒游戏,与来自不同国家的孩子同台竞技。课堂上,老师为学生们设置了丰富有趣的比赛。同时老师也鼓励学生设计属于自己的数学游戏。通过这些活动,学生们不仅可以发展他们的心算能力,还可以加深对数学概念的理解和练习其他相对复杂的数学技能。

爱莎天河数学课

Mathematics is often seen as difficult subject and regularly students put up barriers if they feel they are not confident. At ISA Tianhe, differentiated teaching and group learning are offered to students to help them achieve in maths and build up their confidence. Differentiated teaching can be accomplished in many ways such as the resources we use to support students to specific guided questions to unlock their understanding. Having students working in groups, gives children the opportunity to support each other and allows the individual children show their understanding by teaching their peers.

数学通常被视为一门难学的学科,时常让学生感到不自信,从而将数学拒之门外。在爱莎天河学校,我们为学生提供分层教学和小组式学习,可以从很大程度上帮助学生学好数学,树立自信心。分层教学可以使教学资源最大化,可以有针对性地向学生提出引导性问题,让学生在解答问题的同时解开疑惑和加深理解。小组式学习则可以让学生进行团队合作,相互支持,在与组员交流和帮助组员时表达自己对所学数学知识的理解。


At ISA Tianhe, we are fortune to have the support of specialist bilingual math teachers who are utilized in a way that support the children’s learning by providing the language support that may be needed as well as an in-depth understanding of the processes needed for fluency in math. The specialist bilingual teachers also provide extension group support, which really challenges the children’s mathematical understanding and allows them to apply this understanding to challenging problems.
