爱莎瑶安·魅力女孩’公益交流活动丨Outreach Program for Adolescent Empowerment

On December 29, 2023, students from ISA Liwan School visited Yao'an Ethnic School in Lianzhou City, Qingyuan, to engage in an "Adolescent Girls" public lecture and an English & Art Course. This activity is an extension of the charity performance by students of Yao'an Ethnic School's intangible cultural heritage class, funded by the Guangdong Soong Ching Ling Foundation's Yuanfang Charity Fund, that took place on December 16, 2023, as part of the ISA Charity Fund support program. This trip aims to extend the discussion on women's safety to include mountainous areas, enabling girls in rural areas to understand the changes in their bodies and minds during adolescence and become confident young women. Eighth-grade students WANG and ZHU will continue to conduct online English & Art classes for Yao'an Ethnic School, incorporating interesting English songs to facilitate contemporary language learning.

2023年12月29日，荔湾爱莎学校的三位同学前往清远连州市瑶安民族学校开展《青春期女孩》公益讲座和英语艺术兴趣班课程。本次活动是基于2023年12月16日广东省宋庆龄基金会、远方博爱基金资助瑶安民族学校非遗传承班学生参加”爱莎慈善周“的义演活动的延伸公益活动，瑶安民族学校的帮扶项目也是爱莎公益基金资助计划的项目之一，此次出行旨在将女性健康及身心安全话题普及到山区，让山区的女孩了解自己青春期身体和心理的变化，做一个自信的女生。八年级的王同学和朱同学将会持续性瑶安民族学校展开线上的英语艺术兴趣班，也会通过有趣的英语歌曲学习当今的国际语言。

PART #1

Adolescent Girls Public Lecture

青春期女孩公益讲座

Knowing how to take good care of themselves is crucial for adolescent girls. However, disseminating physiological knowledge to some female students is challenging, especially during academic courses at schools and in remote areas like Yao'an School. Therefore, volunteers decided to plan a public lecture to empower adolescent girls to thrive with confidence.

青春期的女孩是娇嫩的花，好好爱护自己是最基本的条件。但一些女生的生理知识普及是很难在学校的学术课程中出现的，更何况在偏远地区的瑶安学校。所以志愿者们做出了这样的一个决定———策划一次公益讲座，让青春期的女孩子们更有底气地健康成长。

The volunteers first defined the age group of the audience: fourth to sixth grade. Girls in this age group have already entered puberty or are close to that point, making it the most crucial age for receiving relevant knowledge. The volunteers meticulously prepared popular science content about the menstrual cycle, including its normal duration, causes, and associated precautions.

志愿者们先是拟定了听众的年龄段：四至六年级。这一年龄段的女生已经或准备开始发育，正处于最需要普及相关知识的年龄段。志愿者们非常细致地制作了有关生理期的科普，其中包括正常周期、产生原因和注意事项等。

At the same time, the volunteers believed that adolescent girls, due to hormone secretion, tend to develop low self-esteem. Therefore, they included a segment about building self-confidence, encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and not be influenced by others.

同时，志愿者们发现青春期的女孩因为荷尔蒙的分泌容易导致自卑，所以也加入了关于如何自信做自己的环节，鼓励大家都能相信自己，不被他人影响。

According to statistical data, the volunteers found that there is a high percentage of left-behind children in Yao'an School. To ensure the personal safety of the girls, they presented a speech on "preventing harassment" and incorporated a Q&A session afterwards. This allowed the girls to become more familiar with the lecture content and consider specific situations by answering questions.

据数据统计，志愿者们发现瑶安学校的留守儿童占比极高，为了保护女孩子们的人身安全，他们设计了“自我保护”的演讲主题，并在之后设计了提问环节。这样可以让女孩们在回答问题的过程中，对讲座内容更加熟悉并能够在特定情境下做出反应。

Feedback from the participating girls was overwhelmingly positive. They were full of smiles, gaining necessary knowledge, overcoming their inner insecurities, and learning ways to protect themselves.

参与这次演讲的女孩们都给予了非常正向的反馈。大家洋溢着笑容，不仅受到必要的科普、战胜心中的自卑、也学会了保护自己的方式。

PART #2

English & Art Courses

英语兴趣艺术课程

In addition to lectures, the volunteers also prepared unique English & Art courses for the students of Yao'an Ethnic School. By combining music with English, this course became more interesting and greatly enhanced the students' interest and ability related to English learning.

除了讲座，志愿者们还为瑶安民族学校的学生们精心准备了别开生面的英语兴趣艺术课程。通过巧妙地将音乐与英语相结合，使得这门课程更加富有趣味性，大大提升了同学们在英语学习方面的兴趣和能力。

The first English & Art course started by practising introducing themselves and learning the famous song called "Do Re Mi". The volunteers first introduced the words to the song and used the associative memory method of homophonic lyrics to help everyone to understand the new words. They then combined the words with the melody, aiming to improve the students’ skills and deepen their memory in a pleasant atmosphere.

英语艺术兴趣班第一课从练习如何进行自我介绍和学习著名的音乐启蒙歌《Do Re Mi》开始。志愿者们先是介绍了歌曲里面的单词，运用歌词谐音的联想记忆法，帮助大家理解生词。然后将单词与旋律相结合，在轻松愉快的氛围中，自然而然地提升了英语口语能力，加深了记忆。

The first class ended with enjoyment and happiness. From being shy at the beginning to being able bravely to read and sing loudly by the end, the volunteers were delighted to see the changes and became more determined to continue to offering these courses to the students there.

短短的一节课在欢声笑语中悠然结束。20位起初还有些羞涩的同学，在课程结束时已经能够大胆地站在讲台上做自我介绍，甚至能够大声朗读，放声歌唱。这一切，都让在场所有人深切感受到了公益与爱的力量。

In the coming term, our volunteers will also bring a series of English & Art courses to Yao'an students through a combination of online and offline classes. These courses will include English vocabulary, daily communication terms, English song learning, etc., to stimulate the students' enthusiasm for learning English. The volunteers also look forward to establishing deep friendships with the students and sharing the joy of learning together.

后续我们的志愿者还会通过线上线下课结合的方式，为瑶安的同学们带来一系列的英语兴趣艺术课程。这些课程将包括英文单词、日常交流用语以及英语歌曲学习等内容，激发同学们对英语学习的热情，充分享受到学习英语的乐趣。同时，志愿者们也期待着能够通过这些课程，与同学们建立起深厚的友谊，共同分享学习的快乐。

Volunteer Said 志愿者感言

This was the first time that I had participated in such an activity. I felt nervous before it started, fearing that I would be unable to deliver the lecture well. However, as I looked at the sincere, earnest eyes of the girls in the audience, I unexpectedly relaxed and completed the entire lecture with genuine feelings. After it ended, I bade farewell to the girls. I was moved by their enthusiasm and innocence, feeling that I had done something very meaningful. I felt honoured to help them.

我是第一次参加这样的活动。在开始前我还很紧张，害怕自己没办法讲好这样的演讲。但是在开始后，我看着台下女孩们真挚且认真的眼神，竟然放松下来，以真情实感讲完了整个演讲。结束后，我和女孩们道别。我被她们的热情和纯真所感动，觉得我实在是做了一件很有意义的事情，很荣幸我能帮助到她们。

Through the "ISA Yao'an. Charming Girls" event, the volunteers have got to know many lovely children and realized that different groups in the community have varying needs. ISA integrates charity into international education, assisting various vulnerable groups through multiple projects, allowing the students to cultivate a sense of social responsibility through engaging in charitable activities, and contributing to the improvement and development of communities. One of ISA's core educational goals is to instil in students a sense of mission related to public welfare, contributing their love to make the world a better place. ISA Liwan encourages students not only to focus on academic achievements but also to understand their community, using their knowledge and abilities to enhance the environment and help more people.

通过“爱莎瑶安.魅力女孩“活动，志愿者们结识了许多可爱的孩子，了解到社区中不同的群体有不同的需求。爱莎集团将慈善公益融入国际教育，通过多个项目支持社会上的各个群体，让学生在公益活动中培养社会责任感，为社区的改善与发展作出贡献。作为爱莎教育核心的培养目标之一：建立学生对公益的使命感，奉献自己的爱心让世界变得更加美好。爱莎荔湾鼓励学生在关注学术成绩的同时了解自己所处的社区，并尽自己所能用知识和能力改善环境，帮助更多的人。
