最新一期的AIC Talks「齐物达观」知识讲坛系列, 由AIC的数学老师Thurston Lim C.K老师担任主讲嘉宾, Thurston老师来自新加坡, 他曾任教于新加坡教育部学校、北京私立学校、广州国际学校以及其他教育机构，时间跨度近20年。有着教学经验丰富的Thurston依然保持着年轻的外表与标准的体态, 本期Talk就让我们揭开他锁住年龄的秘诀!

In the latest AIC talks of knowledge forum series, AIC's mathematics teacher Thurston Lim C.K., from Singapore, served as the keynote speaker. Thurston has been in China since 2013. He has been a teacher for Ministry of Education Singapore schools, Beijing private & Guangzhou international schools as well as other educational organizations spanning a total of almost 20 years. With his rich teaching experience, Thurston still maintains a young appearance and a good shape of body. In this issue of talk, let's uncover the secrets of locking his age!

Thurston是新加坡人，自2013年以来一直生活在中国。他曾任教于新加坡教育部学校、北京私立学校、广州国际学校以及其他教育机构，时间跨度近20年。Thurston专攻新加坡数学、IGCSE、IB和美国核心课程。他精通中英文两种语言。他吸取了西方、新加坡和中国教学方法的精髓，并打算利用它们来最大限度地支持AIC的学生。Thurston于英国巴斯大学获得国际教育硕士学位，于英国莱斯特大学获得机械工程学位，并在新加坡南洋理工大学获得教育硕士文凭，新加坡理工大学获得机电一体化工程文凭。他还获得了英语教学和各种IB培训的证书，以更新自己学科领域的知识和教学方法。Thurston是个终身学习者。目前，他还在攻读工商管理硕士学位。他为人随和，喜欢烹饪，因为他相信通过分享有创意的食物，可以结交新朋友，并通过与当地社区的亲密接触了解中国文化。虽然他并没有特别喜欢的运动，但他是一个敢于冒险的人。到目前为止，他尝试过蹦极、全程马拉松、钓鱼、与鲸鲨一起潜水、在海里游泳、划独木舟、海上探险（穿越沼泽）、骑自行车、在Kota Kinabalu（马来西亚最高的山）爬山和跆拳道。Thurston 非常享受他的生活，并敢于尝试新事物，不断走出自己的舒适区。

A Singaporean, Thurston Lim has been in China since 2013. He has been a teacher for Ministry of Education Singapore schools, Beijing private & Guangzhou international schools as well as other educational organizations spanning a total of almost 20 years. Thurston specializes in Singapore mathematics, IGCSE, IB and the American Common Core. He is a strong bilingual in the Chinese & English languages. He has equipped himself with the essence of Western, Singapore and Chinese teaching pedagogies and aims to use them to support his students at AIC to the fullest. Thurston graduated from the University of Bath (U.K.) with an MA degree in International Education, University of Leicester (U.K.) with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nanyang Technology University of Singapore with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering. He has also earned himself certifications in English Language Teaching and various IB trainings to remain knowledgeable in his subject area and up to date with the latest pedagogy. Thurston is a life-learner. Currently, he is also pursuing his master’s degree in business administration (MBA). On a personal level, Thurston is easy going and he loves to cook for he believes that through the sharing of creative food, he could make new friends and get to know the culture of China through intimate ways with the local community. While he does not have a specific sport that he follows, he is a risk-taker. So far, he has tried bungy jumping, a full marathon completion, fishing trips, diving with whale sharks, swimming in the sea, canoeing, sea expedition (walking through swamps), cycling long distances, mountain climbing at Kota Kinabalu (highest mountain in Malaysia) and Tae Kwondo. Thurston enjoys his life and he believes in trying out new things, getting out of his comfort zone consistently to experience new things. He is excited about joining AIC in Nansha.

本次AIC talks由来自DP1 的 Sally Li 和Peter Sun两位表演经验丰富的同学担任主持, 由Abby Ding 同学担任翻译, 在Diana Li同学演唱的一首“ 世界上的另一个我 ”拉开帷幕。

This AIC talks was hosted by the two experienced performers from DP1, Sally Li and Peter Sun, translated by Abby Ding. The talks started off with a song "You ≈ me" sung by Diana Li.

什么他居然教二十年的书吗，thurston多少岁啊他不会打了羊胎素吧 ?

Did he really teach for twenty years? How old is Thurston? Is he taking placenta? He doesn’t look like his age at all!

我不知道thurston有没有打羊胎素，但让我们欢迎他来分享他永葆青春的秘密

I don't know if Thurston has taken placenta or not, but let’s welcome Thurston and have him give us a speech about his age lock secret !

演讲的开始Thurston老师为我们展示了他的同学, 与年纪相仿的兄弟姐妹照片, 从照片中看出, 他的同学大多都已经是中年人的体态, 随着年龄的增长, 有的同学从年轻帅小伙, 变成了油腻大叔, 连Thurston老师当年的漂亮班花, 也风韵不在了。再回头看我们的Thurston老师, 不细数我们还真猜不出他的年龄。所以他是从小就有一个好的保养习惯吗?其实不然。

At the beginning of the speech, Thurston showed us photos of his classmates, brothers and sisters of similar age. From the photos we can see that most of his classmates are middle-aged. With the growth of age, some of his friends have turned from young and handsome boys into greasy uncles. Even the campus belle of Thurston in those years is no longer charming. Looking back at our teacher Thurston, we really can't guess his age without saying. So, did he have a good maintenance habit since childhood? It may not be that case.

Thurston老师年轻的时候是一位速食爱好者, 包括我们年轻人所熟知的麦当劳、肯德基、方便面等等。这个饮食习惯, 导致了他19岁时被诊断为痛风, 25岁左右因免疫力低下被诊断为湿疹,30岁左右被诊断为多发性肾结石。然而这些种种的身体病痛原因, 导致Thurston开始了他的对饮食转变之旅。

Thurston was a fast-food lover when he was young, including McDonald's, KFC, instant noodles and so on. This eating habit led him to be diagnosed with gout at the age of 19, eczema at the age of 25 due to low immunity, and multiple kidney stones at the age of 30. These various causes of physical pain led Thurston to start his journey of dietary change.

除了自身的疾病原因, Thurston父亲的一场疾病, 经历急救、治疗的过程, “是什么把他带到了这种状态.....他什么时候应该像我叔叔阿姨一样享受退休生活？”这让Thurston老师深刻的意识到, 饮食习惯, 饮食健康的重要性!

“生老不一定得病死......

叫‘生老死”

In addition to his own disease causes, Thurston's father has gone through a process of first aid and treatment from his illness.

“What led him to this state.... when he should be enjoying his retirement life just like my uncle and aunty?”

This led to Thurston deeply realizing the importance of eating habits and eating healthy!

保持年轻的外表固然重要, 但是拥有健康的身体, 才是Thurston老师为我们做演讲的最终目的!

Keeping a young appearance is important, but having a healthy body is the aim of Thurston's speech for us!

You will prevent a lot of future health issues!
