AIC开学啦 | 2022-2023学年Student Orientation!

8月秋近,广州南沙的天气时而骄阳炙烤,时而暴雨倾盆,但是AIC的同学们对返校的热情丝毫未减。冗长的暑假结束, AIC各个年级的同学们回归充实的校园生活, 2022-2023学年已正式开启。


The new and returning AIC students arrived on campus this week with full enthusiasm, ready to meet their friends and teachers, and start the 2022-2023 academic year.




8月10日, AIC的行政部和后勤部的员工与各年级班主任一切准备就绪, 用亲切的笑容迎接每一位返校的同学, 注册流程、注意事项准备有序, 各个岗位的老师用高度的工作责任心, 良好的精神风貌完成了注册日的安排工作。


On 10th August, AIC teachers and staff were ready to welcome all our returning students. The registration process and precautions were well prepared by the administration department with a high sense of responsibility and a good spirit.


在8月11日, 期待已久的学生入学培训正如火如荼的开展, 在新学年 , AIC不仅迎来了可爱的新同学, 还有一批优秀的师资团队加入我们的大家庭, 他们的加入为AIC带来了持续发展的源源动力与活力。


On 11th August, the student orientation was in full swing. In the new academic year, AIC not only welcomed lovely new students, but also a group of excellent teachers to join our family. The excitement and life on campus has been visible this week, after a long summer. Welcome back, everyone.



为了让新、旧学生们更快地回归与适应AIC的校园生活, 我们开展了系列Student Orientation活动。Orientation以各科组的老师介绍翻开了新学年的篇章,  让我们的同学认识了各科老师后。本学年, 我们恢复了AIC以往的传统, 导师分组, 有别于传统的班主任制度, AIC对于学生的管理实行导师制, 导师小组按学院划分。IGCSE和IBDP项目有四个导师小组,每个小组代表一个学院。导师与学生合作,建立积极的关系,并在AIC的整个旅程中为他们提供支持。帮助学生解决学习和生活中的各种问题, 不同年级间的学生互相沟通与学习, 导师制的制度旨在帮助不同年级的学生间开阔视野, 培养责任、沟通、协作等意识与能力。


In order to bring our community together, AIC launched a series of orientation activities. Orientation at AIC starts with a welcome speech by the Head of School, followed by the introduction of teachers and staff. In this academic year, we have restored the previous traditions of AIC, including the AIC Mentor System for the management of students. Mentor groups are divided by Houses. The IGCSE and IBDP programs have four mentor groups, one representing each of the Houses.  The mentors work with the students in building positive relationships and in supporting them throughout their journey at AIC. The students from different grades in the mentor groups communicate with each other in order to solve problems and support each other in meeting their goals. An important goal of the mentor system is to help students broaden their horizons, cultivate responsibility, improve communication, cooperation and self-awareness.


紧接着是团建活动(以导师组为单位), 活动内容包括:「破冰活动」、「装饰大赛」、「篮球比赛」、「排球比赛」与「环球英语走透透」等, 最后以导师小组汇报和反思作为一天的总结。IB教育强调人的全面发展,即智力、身体和情感的均衡发展对于自己及他人的身心健康非常重要。


The House and Mentor Group introduction (the team building activity) included“ Icebreakers” “Mentor Door decoration contest”, “Basketball Tournament”, “Volleyball Tournament” and “Photo Scavenger Hunt”. At the end of the day each mentor group reflected on their experiences as the summary of the day. IB education emphasizes the all-round development of students, that is, the balanced development of intelligence, body and emotion is very important to the physical and mental health of oneself and others.

通过orientation的活动, 不仅考验了学生们的注意力、发散思维能力,又增进团队合作和凝聚力。同学们既要清楚规则,又不能墨守成规。这需要导师与同学们先设定战略目标,再布置分配战术。在团队合作中, 每位同学的优势与能力各不同,如何制定方案、分工、协调, 考验的不仅是领袖智慧,还有团队协作。


Through the student orientation activities, the students' attention and divergent thinking abilities are tested, and the team cooperation and cohesion is enhanced. Students also learn how to communicate clearly and effectively with their team as they plan and put together strategies to win the various competitions they participate in. Students also learn how to formulate plans, divide labor, coordinate, and show good leadership and teamwork skills.

8月12日, 2022-2023学年的第一次早集会在AIC剧院举行。首场早集会由AIC执行校长Bob Darwish主持, 第一个环节是让AIC的新面孔互相介绍自己, 熟悉的面孔互相问好。紧接着Bob提出了2022-2023学年的3个重要目标:

  • 始终以做得更好为目标。

  • 关心他人。

  • 在学习和兴趣之间找到平衡点。

如何实现这些目标。Bob鼓励同学们在新学期, 在AIC的全英教学下, 如果想成为一名优秀的学生,英语是至关重要的。他激励同学们设定目标,并为完成的每一步感到自豪。


On 12th August, the first Assembly of the 2022-2023 academic year was held in the  AIC Theater. Bob Darwish, Head of  School, hosted the first  session in which he welcomed the new and returning students. Students were given some time to get to know a new student, someone they did not knot, and to chat to someone they know. He then spoke about three important goals for the academic year 2022-2023:


  • Always aim to do better.

  • Care for others.

  • Find balance between studies and interests.

Bob also gave some ideas about how to achieve each of the goals. He encouraged students to practice speaking English because English language is critical if they are to become extraordinary students. He also encouraged students to further improve their mother tongue languages when they are not in the academic building. Additionally, he asked students to set goals and be proud of every step they take in achieving those goals.



为了更好提高学习效率, 架起教与学的沟通桥梁, AIC在本学年更新了学习pad的设备, 我们为每一位学生提供一台全新的学习iPad作为教学辅助、师生间的学术沟通、与可控官的搜索引擎功能提供学生更丰富他们在学业上的知识探索。


In order to better improve learning efficiency and build a bridge between teaching and learning, AIC has updated the learning pad equipment in this academic year. We provide each student with a brand-new learning iPad as a teaching aid, academic communication between teachers and students, and search engine function with controllable officials to provide students with more rich knowledge exploration in their studies.




为期3天的student orientation, 同学、老师之间能互相熟悉,更好的融入未来的学习, 校园生活。“开学的第一课”, 在导师与学生们的欢声笑语中圆满落幕, 同学之间, 师生之间, 更是加起了感情沟通的桥梁, 愿AICer未来可期, 青春当为奋斗拼搏。


The three-day student orientation enables students and teachers to become familiar with each other and better integrate into future learning and school life."The first lesson of the beginning of school" came to a successful conclusion in the laughter of the mentor and the students. The bridge of emotional communication is built between the students and the teachers. May the future of AICers be bright and full of nice surprises.
