Dear Students,
What an amazing couple of weeks for sport here at OCAC. From signups to tryouts, the Athletic Department, the Coaches and CCA Office have been impressed with your enthusiasm and interest to be considered for div in the OCAC School Sports Teams.
This season, we had many wonderful, qualified players who participated in the tryouts and unfortunately, student selections had to be made. This was a difficult process for the coaches and took a lot of careful consideration. We appreciate your hard work and dedication, so I would like to encourage you to keep practicing, work on your skills and try again next time. Please do not let this experience discourage you from trying out in the future.
But I wasn’t selected! Doesn’t that mean I’m not good at sport??
NO!
It just means that you didn’t make it at this point in time. There are many examples of world class athletes who didn’t make their school team the first year! Both Michael Jordan and Lionel Messi did not make their school team, and both players refer to this experience as the motivation for the superstar player that they became. Not being selected is not the end of the world, and a resilient attitude can help you in all aspects of your life now and forever. So don’t give up! Don’t lose hope and we look forward to welcoming you back with more tenacity and dedication to the next Sports Team Tryouts at OCAC.
